No, no I didn't play that game. And to be honest, It still wouldn't have any sway for me on his character because all that happened after the fact. And if you chose the mages over the templars he probably simply went with it or acted far too late to actually do something.
So, you've never failed to do something you later regretted? You've never revisited a situation and thought "I should have said something?"
Human beings don't always get it right the first time, we're not gods, we screw it up. Should we be forever condemned based on one wrong choice? Ser Barris didn't cross his superior in public. Maybe he was confused and uncertain about the right thing to do. (And the "hitting an old woman" things. This is Thedas where women routinely take up sword and shield and do their best to cut your stomach open. I get the feeling that there's little deference in this culture based on sex. So let's take out the "woman" thing, huh?)
Here's another thing to consider before you permanently consign Ser Barris to the flames of whatever hell exists in Thedas. Sometimes an act of violence can be so out of place and out of character, it shocks you into inaction -- yes, even a Templar could experience that. Maybe Ser Barris just needed more time to process this horribly shocking event in his head. A lot of "what-ifs," neh?
