Than he/she should probably get out of a thread about a Templar.

She'll never leave this thread, she'll just come here to tell us all how she doesn't like Templars.  lol!!

What did Fiona do anyways? Made bad deals, screwed over her mages and then stays in SKyhold reading books.

What did Ser(now Knight Commander) Barris do? He fought at Redoubt to save the order and possibly can die, if he survives he continues leading his fellow brothers and sistsers in protecting mages, killing demons and being a badass.

I think it's pretty clear who is worthy here.

If I'm not mistaken, the mages started the war. Barris never fought a mage the entire war. Hell, he almost got killed protecting a falsely accused blood abomination.

How many mages would of the done the same for a decent templar ?

I'd have to first confirm whether they exist.

You are mistaken. The mages left the Chantry, the one organization that would have had a legitimate cause to declare war on them. They did not. The templars then left the Chantry and attacked the mages of their own accord despite having no cause. The templars are history's garbage.

You people do it to every bloody Fiona thread. I thought you were fine with it.

Yeah, I think it's best we just ignore XIl at this point. He/she is just being hostile. And this is a place for discussion of a character. Not a Templar-mage thread.

Barris is awesome

BW needs to implement ignore button features for their fourms.  Unless they already do and I just don't know about them lol.

I still like that he also shows up at the wilds in the fight, he sadly wears his helmet though but you can tell it's him because of his voice.

I've been... annoyed by the fact that so many on this side keep attacking anyone who tries to say anything good about Fiona or the mage rebellion.

Nope, never did it in a Fiona thread

Nice generalization though ;)

I knew it was him! I heard the voice as I was running by. i actually stopped and went back to see if I could see "Barris" above the head but didn't. :crying:

But I knew it had to be him.

Did mages even help fight in the wilds? I don't recall hearing Fiona out there.

They address this in game.  The Templars did have cause.  Their agreement with the Chantry was that the original Inquisition would lay down arms and become the Templar order so long as the Chantry maintained control of the mages.  The moment the mages voted to separate, with the assistance of the Divine no less, they ended the peace agreement.

maybe because there is nothing good to say about a slaver who sells her own followers to Tevinter

or starts a war she can't win

or because she's pathetic in every way shape and form

We have mages fighting in the woods, but definitely no Fiona.

People normally don't like incompetent leaders that sell their men into slavery. What a shock.

This thread is not for people on a 'side'. It's for people who like Ser Barris. I don't support the templars as a whole. But I like Barris so I made a thread about him.

You're not even talking about Barris, you just want to argue about mages and templars. Please take it elsewhere.

They do, but Fiona does not shown up, like I said fiona NEVER leaves Skyhold, Barris on the other hand is always on the field helping mages, killing demons and normally protecting people from Corys army. That is why he earned his promotion, he worked his ass off instead of reading books and making stupid choices.

Kinda my stance aswell. I'm a fan of Ser Barris but not the Templar Order itself. He's awesome enough for me to appreciate his values and just not really think about the other stuff

I support the mage rebellion and Fiona, but that doesn't mean ALL templars are evil overlords. Ser Barris is a AWESOME character. One that gives me hope that mages and templars can work together one day

DAI onwards, good Templars are way easier to find than sensible Mages, it isn't even funny.

Nope, the mages without question begin the whole war. They ratified that barely majority vote(lovely how they decided that the fact half of their people wanted nothing to do with their madness mattered little outside their own selfish needs) in Val Royeaux, the seat of the white chantry itself. This is was a blatant act of war, and the mages are more than intelligent enough to know what would happen.

They basically waved a red flag at the Templars and dared them to charge.

Anyway, I am going to kill Dragons at the Hissing Waste, so bon voyage for now.

Warmongering? Weird, considering the mages fired the first shot.

They didn't. Lambert attacked and started killing mages before there was a vote on seceding from the chantry. Then when a First Enchanter tried to surrender without a fight, and was killed, the other mages defended themselves...and it was after the attack that they officially voted on seceding from the Chantry entirely.

Given how the Inquisition aligned Templars act, plus the actions of Barris himself, I think it's safe to say that once you cut out those willing to go the Red Lyrium route, what you're left with is an Order willing and eager to reform itself into the organization many of us hoped it could be.  One where the Templars and Mages are partners with the joint goal of giving mages a place they can perfect their arts in peace while at the same time protecting everyone, mage and normal alike, from the dangers inherent in magic.
