Well, I'm at least glad that he didn't become a Red Templar. He died fighting.
Just imagine the idea of him beign in Samson's place ![]()

Gross, no.

STAHP
The fact that even if you do CotJ Barris can also still die and he dies stopping Envy is more then Fiona ever did for her people.
I don't dislike Fiona like some. But she is a pretty weak leader. She didn't know what the hell she was doing. So she just handed her people off to a Tevinter Magister....really ?
So, if Barris was ever a romance option. You think he would be Straight, Gay, or Bi ?

You opened the floodgates lol
Hey, it's worth discussing ! ![]()
If you did CotJ you would know why he returned. Barris led all the sane templars left and was planning to leave with them, that is why him and all the others where to be purged, not captured and fed more lyruim. Him and others had become a threat.
That was his explicit goal when leaving Val Royeaux, and not something he took up after he arrived at Therinfall Redoubt? Its interesting he thought he could pull that off if so. In that case, I would have preferred he'd sent a note or something to the inquistion asking our help explicitly for that reason. One you get to see and read before making a choice about who to ally with. The templar intro nearly voids them of decent morality and sense IMO and that would've helped me not so completely reject the idea of recruiting them in my first playthrough, and maybe even spurred me to recruit them on a later run. As is, his first impression stuck. I've gotten what I wanted out of this point of analysis now, so I'll let it rest.

I think he should be gay. If only for the fact that it would break the straight white knight stereotype.

I'd like to think he's "married to the job", so to speak.

Seconded, I'd love for him to be gay. If only because I'm selfish and want him to like men only. ![]()
Plus we'd finally get our knightly gay option.

Depends on whether or not the Chantry has policies towards this sort of thing-- if they do and he isn't straight, we'd only hear about it elliptically or in very private moments.
Then again, Leliana is pretty open with her bisexuality... but she's also the Left Hand, so she probably has high-level Black Ops clearance swag, so she can get away with not being judged like a 'normal' Chantry employee.

I don't think the Chantry frowns upon it. I think it would of been mentioned by now if they did.
Barris dies fighting and killing Envy, so why are you having this conversation?
Rather, would have been pleased had he survived.
Or maybe, instead him and his order can help me protect the sensible, intelligent, loyalist mages who joined us rather than the dumb, brain dead d-bags who sold themselves into slavery, which somehow is their...rebellious act against oppression?
Yeah....
If I wanted the Venatori to take over the mage rebellion, perhaps. As it stands, no.

Wouldn't you be willing to try the Templar side once? Just once?
If only to get another perspective of the templars.
If it makes you feel beter, Sera dissapproves if you side with them.
So if you need a reason to bug her....
For those who romanced Dorian. If Barris was a gay romance option would you choose him over Dorian? ![]()

Why do you think I come into threads like this? To figure out this perspective without having to play it.
As Iron Bull says, you have to poke them a little bit.

Reading threads will never give you the same experience.
I kept reading how bad the cutscene was where Sera dumps the inquisitor. When I actually saw the scene for myself, it was completely different.
He's one of the good ones I'll give him that. He reminds me of Thrask or maybe like Maurevar Carver if he allows mages to leave their Circles, I would have liked him as a friend if he was the latter. It's a strange feeling to like a person but be so adverse to their politics.
He actually seemed like a very nice guy - also, hot. Kind of wish I could've gotten him to join Team Mage. Ah well, I guess there has to be a limit on hot templars/ex-templars - the combination of Cullen and Ser Barris in the same room for an extended period of time would probably have caused a tower in Skyhold to spontaneously combust.

You're right. I kept reading how bad not helping the Templars turned out to be, and they were wrong too. It was a lot, lot worse.

Well, playing the actual quest would make me want to slice open my arms to let the evil out, so I'll avoid it for the time being.
