On Emprise du Lion today I was collecting all the shards.

 

And there is one that shows up due east of Drakon's Rise Camp. On the map, the area is completely blacked out even after you explore it, which is kind of odd to start off with. Then you come upon a one of those smaller towers and you get a "Discovered Drakon Tower" message.  By the tower there is one of those Elven orbs things that you turn on to help keep the rifts closed.

 

By the actual tower there is a big old piece of red lyrium coming out of the ground.

 

(Now this is when it gets weird)

 

Right next to the lyrium there is a "person" who is actually hard to describe.

 

It has the body of a smaller, obvious female Dwarf (small for even a dwarf tho) and it has a very feminine female voice. But its head is about three times too large and it is the head of a very dark skinned man with full beard and moustache and Elven ears. Yes, it is so very odd!  You can't interact with it but it keeps staring at the lyrium and saying "Weird" or "I hate this stuff".

 

Any ideas?

That is weird, maybe some easter egg kinda thing?  I'm usually so bored with the monotony of shards at that point, I'd probably never see it.  Can you post a map?

I play on a Play Station and can't get a screen capture and no one has a map of that area on line yet.

 

But if you are looking at the Empires du Lion map.... and you select "Drakon Rise Camp" if you go directly due East from there... you will see a "dark" area on the map. If you just head due east into the darkness you will run into the tower. On the PS the icon that is supposed to show where you are will never actually move into the darkness although your actual physical location will be well  east of where it shows you to be.

 

I will check tomorrow to see if any maps have been posted online that I can use.  If you use the Ocularum on the other side of the bridge (the side where the three dragons are) it will show a shard placement right in the tower in question as well. Thats how I found it.

It's a glitch. There are supposed to be a team of Dwarven Lyrium Miners who're there to remove the Red Lyrium, but they spawn randomly by different Red Lyrium deposits and a glitch causes the male and female dwarf to spawn in the same spot. You end up with the male dwarf's head hovering weirdly over the female dwarf's hood.

Gets creepier when it blinks. It's a glitch, wrong facecode put to the body.

You do know that the collected shards are used to open 3 dungeon rooms in Forbidden Oasis, that each yield massive boosts to fire, ice and spirit abilities and defenses, as well as loot right? Might be monotonous to collect but they do yield some very nice rewards when used to open those crypts.
