What he said about a betrayed Bull was creepy though. He felt nothing... wow Bull... I think he was re-educated.

He felt uncomfortable at one point in the library where Spirit Cole said he felt he belonged, then told us Solas was close. I was hoping Human Cole would be over his fear of the Fade, but something really scares him and it might not be because he's Human. It seems that whatever happened to it makes his human side's skin crawl in the main game too. I just want the kid happy. Hopefully he will be with Maryden.

Well that makes sense. He's human now and no longer has any need to be in the fade outside that mission anyway so no harm done. Plus I'm pretty sure the fade isn't pleasant for humans in general. There's a reason most of them want out as soon as possible :P

Shame we can't react that way too. We just seem to take everything thrown at us. Even Sera speaks out about her fears. Us? We just keep going without a complaint. If only irl we could be that way lol

BW protags almost always do that :( it's really silly too especially when something super traumatic just happened like your parents just all got slaughtered a few minutes ago in front of you and your only options are be stone faced it's like "are you serious right now?"

Exactly. In fact I think only a few times my Inquisitor can talk of their feelings. One is with Cullen, one is after the Ball and I think Cole implies we are going through a lot and he hopes he's helping. That's it. In Trespasser my dumped Lavellan at least had the option to talk of her feelings for Solas in a more emotional way.

If he become human then he'll die more or less. He should've chose to be Elvhen, instead

Yeah it's pretty sad. *huggles Cole*

I don't understand where this impression of Cole (or any self-aware spirit in general) being or a robot, or incapable of "real" emotion, or unable to form "real" bonds comes from.

Comes mainly from his scene as a human. There, he has been a spirit before, a hybrid spirit/human, and now a full human, so he can compare all the three and his comparisons about his learning ability, bonding, empathy and everything else make it clear that those are very limited as a spirit.

Still, not enough reason for me to force him to become a human. As you said, that is not necessarily a bad thing, nor is what he wants himself.

Eventually he's going to be confronted with a decision that when he undertakes it, will lead him to become a demon. It's happened before, it will happen again. The world is full of impossible ideals that are in conflict with each other, and that warps a spirit's identity. It happens to the best of them.

Humans, on the other hand, can make those hard decisions and walk away without losing everything that they are. I let Cole be a human so he could never become what he fears. What he asked you to do for him.

Obviously not every death Cole causes will warp him. But there will be those that will. I will protect him from that.

Ask yourself what happened to Justice. Do you really want to risk that happening to Cole? When there is an alternative?

This sounds a lot like the reasoning behind the Rite of Tranquility.

And most of those scenarios involve no more than the same canned response from the NPC no matter what we say, not an actual supportive conversation. It's ... really grating. Mother Giselle is the only character I remember who actually seemed to talk to me instead of at me, though of course she has her "bolster the Inquisistor's faith and morale" agenda which I suppose makes these talks not work so well when your Inquisitior is not Andrastian.

I really appreciated being able to complain about Haven's cold and accommodations to Josephine as a Trevelyan and have her agree.

Having tried both, I prefer Human.  Cole as a spirit is someone I find seriously creepy and frankly not very likeable.  Not only that but Cole as a spirit seems very limited....and for  spirit that's a good thing since as often as not when spirits change they change in a bad way, i.e. become demons and we've already seen Cole on the precipice of that more than once.

So I think going human is better for Cole and better for everyone around Cole.

...Aaand that's why I don't make Cole human... :D

On a more serious note: Cole came to the world accidentally, not because he was particularly interested in it or wanted to live in it. He is a spirit of Compassion, he just wanted to help, and as a result got stuck in a foreign dimension - so alien and scary to him that it almost turned him into a demon. To me, making him human seems like destroying who he really is. In DA2 we saw that mixing human and spirit is destructive to both, and I would not want such fate for Cole.

What Cole himself wants? He wants to help people, not to be like people (no matter what Varric thinks - since when he is an expert in spirit matters?!). As a spirit, Cole can help better and more effectively and he is still himself, he is free and can return back to the Fade where he belongs.

I played both ways and finally picked human. If you pick human, he is more like a sweet kid.

Didn't get far enough in the game but would probably go human.
