This is translated message from the group that did it:

After 15 days of work, the 64bit version of Denuvo has been cracked, this hints at Fifa 15,DA:I, and lord of the fallen being ready for release in the near future. To be honest, this DRM was pretty powerful, and made me worried, because fifa 15 and DA:I weren't preforming very well(in terms of market sales?). Fifa 15 sold 5000 copies, DA:I about 3000 copies, compared to international sales of a few million, it's a drop in the bucket, a lot of ORIGINAL HEROES(basically fags that buy original) bitched about how we're destroying the market, but now we can see it, if there is no crack, would people buy? I think, judging from our country's cultural and buying patterns, uncrackable games are damaging to the PC gaming scene in china, it doesn't increase the amount of legit/original games purchased, and many PC gamers would rather not play the game(abandon it). Habits/tastes have to be slowly built, market environment has to be slowly cultivated, the government's attitude has to slowly change, you can't change everything in one fell swoop.

Actually, our actions throughout the years, isn't it just to enable PC gamers to enjoy video games? To be able to increase or maintain the amount of PC gamers, we're very open to increased marketing of video games, but to be able to breach the many layers of government bureaucracy and to create a price point more suited to the spending power of chinese citizen, if only games would do that in china, they could sell millions, then it would reason that the effect of our cracks in china would not be that impactful.

Skills are only a form of (natural) ability, we possess skills, so it is natural to want to use them for good.

So, can we now check how the game operates with and without it? How really demanding is the denuvo process?

We can chekc the trend how the game is selling, was the start really good due to no crack available? Will the sales drop significantly because of the crack? (Or because more and more portals who put some effort in beating the game state that its "single player MMO"?)

Any thoughts? I find it extremely interesting.

Probably the stupidest defence of piracy I've read.

And I've read a lot.

Most of the time DRM makes far less difference than some people think in sales numbers. I buy games digitally because it is convenient, safe and these days you can also find bargains easily. I wish stuff like Denuvo died, because it is just another thing that can cause more bugs for me. I end up paying more for a game (DRM devs have to be paid) and get a worse product (more bugs / more resources used).

There is no proof that they've cracked it, other than YT video. There is no working crack online, even tho they announced that they cracked it a week ago.

Wouldn't be the first phishing expedition based on a false crack.

Shrug.

Oh look, another one of these threads.

It's been a week and there still isn't a crack for any game that uses Denuvo. It's all BS as far as I am concerned until they actually prove that they did crack Denuvo.

Haven't heard of Denuvo so I'd like to know some details exactly how it affects game performance.

Its said it will take about 2 to 3 weeks till the release of the games. But the process is dismantled, now the implementation.

DAI allegedly sold 1,2mln across platforms... is it good nowdays? Or below expectations?

BTW In UK DAI dropped to the bottom of the first 20 in best selling games. Prices dropping to around 45$. Any idea how it compares to previous DA games?

crytek said games are pirated 9 times for every one sale. That logic didn't hold up very well with the denuvo secured fifa though... it barely sold more copies than last years.

If you ignore the idiotic and arrogant way the message is delivered, the main takeaway is that you can't really display piracy numbers and claim those as a loss in sales. A concept some devs liked to throw around a lot a few years back. The majority of those people wouldn't buy your games anyway, let alone at launch. But I guess that's neither here nor there as far as the focus of this topic goes.

There is currently no finished cracks for any of the games using Denuvo. I'm interested in seeing how they will perform when the cracks are eventually out. If it turns out that Denuvo has a considerable impact on performance, let's just say, I will be less than pleased. It would just be yet another example of the paying customers getting shafted in order to delay piracy, which in the end accomplishes bugger all.

Isn't is useless without cracked Keep? Unless you want to play by default, ie don't have a pride? :)

exactly, if people can't pirate then they're going to wait for sales. I myself would be willing to wait as long as it takes for free giveaways or humble bundle package deals which for this game will only be likely to happen some time late next year if we're lucky, but it's going to happen some time.

So piracy boosts sales?

Jennifer-Lawrence-Nod-Yes.gif

I think there was a study about sales in movies over the past decade or so and they rose with raising priracy numbers. So at least one could argue that while it may not actually boost sales, it does not hurt sales.

Some companies at least realized that the age-old idea of "one more copy means one less original sold" doesn't hold true. Companies who simply ditched any kind of copy protection (CD Project Red with The Witcher 2) or refused to go after illegal downloads (HBO with their Game of Thrones series, also acknowledging their lacking distribution of the series outside of the USA) did not suffer at all. They sold well, they made a ton of money and got the positive feedback from the community as a big bonus.

Because while piracy probably doesn't boost sales, good relations to your customers certainly does. I'm sure of it.

I don't see CDPR on the street yet lol.
I am yet to see any company posting the supposed sales boost since release of product using Denuvo.

Piracy indirectly boosts sale. There will be less 'deprived' ones who take it out by giving a zero on metacritic which helps the game look good for a prospective buyer checking the website
