So I have played through most of the game as a Dwarf rogue and human warrior. Just started a human mage. And I have to say it just feels better. It is like the only backround where you have a horse in the race. You were a rebal mage. Not just some random shuck that happend to be at the conclave.

depends on your character. the background for my human rogue gave her a horse in the mage-templar war, sure she wasn't a mage, but do the mundane thoughts not count?

 

My dalish mage though also fits in well, but that is due to solas + elven stuff

Depends on what kind of story you want to tell really.

 

Early-game human mage makes the most of the context

Mid-game to end-game it's more... elves make more sense actually.

Not really a rebel. Ostwick sent the player to stop the fighting. The Inquisitor actually brings that fact up a lot.

I thought the elf mage was the way to go for inquisition considering...everything lol. My elf rogue was clueless about anything elven which really annoyed me. But with my elf mage I got the arcane and history knowledge perks and my elf mage knows ALOT she understands more elven stuff and I love how her and Solas slip a little elven language into their elfy conversations elf mage with history/arcane knowledge Solas falls head over heels lol

As far as I can tell, that is the combination that has the closest connection to the story.

I felt that mage felt best for DA 2 for the same reasons.  However, I can't bring myself to play as another human/elf mage after being forced to play as one with Hawke.  It's one of the reasons why I want this mage/templar nonsense to end already so that we can move onto things that might directly affect my dwarf and qunari PCs a bit more.

Subjective though isn't it? I've enjoyed my time as a dwarf equally as a human, despite it seeming less important. (I mean in comparison, it still gets brought up a lot)

Elven Mage is the best for the storyline as a whole followed by Human Mage....

 

Now if they could fix the retarded looking Male Elf body I would play Male Elven Mage...

And I don't get the Dalish Elf has best story-line bit, cause considering outside he who will not be named, the game spends its entire length shitting on everything the Dalish believe to be their history.

They got their entire history wrong, marks were slave markings, their gods aren't real (or at least not what they believe them to be), real immortal elves consider them shemlen as well (ha ha) and most hilarious of all, the Fall of the Dales was caused by the elves themselves as the butchering of humans in cold blood at Red Crossing began the damn war.

 

So yeah, don't see it.

Err... that's kinda one of more reasons to play elf, no? Humans probably wouldn't care about elven lore anyways so it's kinda feels like side story to them. No real involvement.

Precisely that is why Elven Mage is the best. DAI is a game that will allow Elven Inquisitors to grow as a character.
