I've been at Skyhold a good while and have been romancing Cullen all along and got a kiss after a chess game. None of his personal quests come up. According to every guide I've seen, he's supposed to have three. Happier Times, Perserverance and Before the Dawn.

I did get a short conversation about his addiction and said I supported his decision.

If it makes a difference, I recruited Templars instead of Mages.

I went back to Emerald Graves and do see references to Samson, but still nothing comes up.

Any help on this would be appreciated. I've got at least one personal quest up for most of the other companions.

The guide doesn't have anything useful but when I got his quests I think they might have been triggered by other quests. IIRC they are red lyrium related as well as related to Samson and what is going on with the templars. I never even got as far as emerald graves to get his quests. Yes there are three. They are related to the templars and red lyrium IIRC. One thing he talked about IIRC was caravans and stopping them. I don't even remember the specifics because I only did one full play through about a week ago and there were so many quests for companions as well as templar related that I don't remember details. Check to see what you have in your quest log. If you don't have any under inner circle (I think they do show up there for the advisors) then I suspect it might be related to Cassandra because hers involves templars and seekers. Maybe do some of hers and anything at all related to them in general or that comes up on the missions in the war room. A lot of them are actually triggered by missions and people make the mistake of thinking talking to the companion will do but what I've noted was that a quest might trigger a mission or a companion quest or even another mission that triggers it. They seem to be rooted to some extent for some of the companions and advisors in missions and other quests - like one thing leads to the next.

Ok. I'll keep trying. I found letters in Emerald Graves relating to red lyrium and Samson. I thought that would trigger something. I'll just keep plugging away. Thanks. :)

Don't worry about not getting it as soon as you think you should. For some reason, I remember being well into the game before it came up and I think it was after the lyrium discussion. I don't even think I did all of his but still got the full romance. By that time I had done so much of the trivial crap of the game that I was burned out and wanted to just finish it. Not doing all that stuff anymore XD. But it's not something that comes up right away IIRC. And I think part of the conversation where he talks about caravans brings up cassandra or someone. Damned if I remember specifics. But I think it was her for some reason. Just clear quests as you normally would (not the absurd trivial stuff but companion related, anything that seems related to templars, seekers or red lyrium) and you should get it. Check the missions in the war room too. Clear them as it might be connected. If you need to clear them faster just leave the room and move your clock (computer, ps or xbox) ahead by a day then go back in.

Before the Dawn is only available if you choose the Mages instead of the Templars.

Happier Times is romance related and happens sometime after the first kiss.

You've already seen the lead up to Perseverance with the conversation about his addiction. It might be though, I'm not sure anymore, that Happier Times and Perserverance are only triggered after certain main quests.

Thanks, you two. I'm still working at it. I'm sure it will pop up again. I'm thinking of going all the way back to redo my choice and go with the mages just for that quest. I'll see.

From what I've read, you get Leliana quests from choosing templars and Cullen quests from choosing mages. The wiki calls them nemesis quests, so bascially whoever is your opponent, the opposite adviser gives quests against them.

Does Happier Times happen before or after the sex scene?  I ... think... I did that quest but I do not show it in the completed quest list.  I did do Perserverance and as I sided with the templars I will not get the Before the Dawn quest.  So I'm wondering whether I am bugged.  In the main quest I've just come back from the Temple of Mithal

Well, whatever happens, if you want to finish the romance, don't finish the main quest first, because that locks out all romance/companion quests.

When is the sex scene supposed to play?  After a certain part of the main quest?  I haven't gotten it to trigger, and I'm worried I borked it somehow.

I Had done the Celene quest and it happened some time after that for me. I don't remember exactly at what point it did trigger. It seemed to take forever, though. I doubt you broke it. Cullen is just a tease and likes to drag it out.

Some of those quests and scenes are story gated. If I remember correctly, once you finish either Abyss or Wicked Hearts you get Perseverance. And I think it was after leaving Skyhold (for any destination) and returning (not necessarily completing any quests) that I got Happier Times. After completing both Abyss and Wicked Hearts you can get the love scene. Before the Dawn only happens if you recruit the mages.
