I'll probably buy the game early next year. I'm curious to know if there are any large scale dungeons (as in "traditional" dungeon crawls) in DAI.

Honestly, I can't answer this as I'm not too sure if I'm familiar with 'traditional dungeon crawls', but as nobody else has answered yet, I'll say what I can, as it may help answer your question.
There are a lot of caves in DAI, but most of these are quite small, i.e. down a tunnel, into a room, do something (sometimes quite complex, sometimes really easy), etc. though there are a few with a bit more depth than that. Theres one in particular where I spent about half hour - I've heard others say they've spent up to 3 hours there.
I'll put this next bit in a spoiler tag - it's not very spoilerish but some may think otherwise:
Main quests, I'll put this in spoiler tags, but again, I'll try and make it as spoiler free as possible:
Hopefully this helps - like I say, I don't fully understand 'traditional dungeon crawl' so I can't give a yes or no answer. One potential definition I came up with was Wolfenstein 3D. If by dungeon crawl you mean this, then no. If you mean the sewers in TES: Oblivion, or DAO's temple in the brescillian forest, then there's a better chance some of the environments in DAI will qualify, though it's by no means saturated with such locations.
If anyone can adapt on any of this or give you a more suitable response, then brilliant but while there are no other replies, this may give you some insight.
When I say dungeon crawl, I basically mean one or more large levels of a dungeon/cavern system that really test out a party's strengths and abilities while clearing out the complex room by room.
Expansive dungeons? Maybe. But expansive dungeons-like-regions? Yes.

This. I've run quite a few dungeons so far. I don't think I've found them all. But I found them to be the perfect length between not too short and not a slog fest where I wanted to gtfo (I'm looking at you deep roads in DA:O!). My advice is to make sure you're the correct level or go in slightly under level on hard difficulty or higher for the maximum test.
Obviously if you enter a huge dungeon at level 18 and the enemies are level 12 you're gonna have a boring time.
How might you know what "level" the dungeon is at (relative to your party)? It would be great to seek out those dungeons when the party is at the "right" level.
There's a big, separate map expansive dungeon-maze.
There's a large Carta/Darkspawn dungeon location.
Several main story dungeones.
There was a large tunnel/undeground location in one of the side quests as well.
