What I'm learning from this thread is: Nearly every human being alive is a stalker or a pervert according to some. And that no explanation no matter how true it is will change that because they say so. There's no real point me repeating what others have but it's pretty obvious there's nothing wrong with Blackwall's feelings towards Josephine, especially considering it's encouraged.

Some Asexuals and Demisexuals basically do believe that. They lack the understanding that the way they feel and the way their brains are wired isn't shared by everyone, and that people who do feel attraction (outside of a strong romantic bond in the case of demis) are "weak" or "perverted" or whatever other excuse they can come up with to assert their subjective perspective is somehow "right" and that other people should change to match that.

The reverse is, of course, true (verisexuals expecting asexuals to "get over it") far more often. But, you'd think a group who suffers from so much misunderstanding from the mainstream would make an effort match understanding with understanding.

Kallen, you obviously have very strong views on this, judging from your posts here as well as in the Blackwall thread.  No one can invalidate your personal experience.  That said, I don't think anyone's try to do that.  People can and are entitled to argue that, based on the evidence we see in-game, Josephine didn't perceive Blackwall's actions as stalker-y.  Even if you personally feel that there is a parallel between your life and the game story, that doesn't mean that people are making any claims about your life when they comment about the game, just the story insofar as it concerns Josephine and Blackwall.

I know. It's just the defense of Rainier rings too similarly to said event, so it appears as if they are.

I didn't mean that. I let the memory of a bad experience cloud my judgement for a moment because people were defending a character that reminded me of said bad experience.

I never saw Dorian and the Bull hook up, how does one accomplish this?

You get locked into a relationship with someone else, then they should eventually have a piece of banter about it while you are running around. After that banter occurs, you can talk to them about it.

At least that's what I was told on how you experience it.

Re: Blackwell and Josie -- Here's a short primer on troubador songs and traditional chivalric romance tropes for you.  It's Dante and Beatrice, it's Petrarch and Laura, it's most of the bards in a troubador song.  The male ones, anyhow.  A female troubador called Casteloza has a much more realistic and bitter view of the situation, which aligns with my IRL views, but would make for a much more depressing story.

The unworthy (male) suitor catches a glimpse of Absolute Feminine Perfection and is instantly devoted -- mind, body and soul -- to the lady.  Whether he has ever spoken to her, or even heard her speak, or not -- whether, indeed, he knows anything about her.

She is unattainable;

  • she's married to someone else,
  • or she's his employer,
  • or he only caught a glimpse of her that one time,
  • or she's the bloody Queen, and he's a mud-stained hick.

Often, all of the above.  But his love is so grand and awesome and pure, and aren't you all impressed?  Chivalric love ennobles him, and the fact that it's unrequited (or, at least, chaste) makes it even more impressive.  The lady is flattered and feted; her reputation and worthiness become widely known, and the devotion of the lover in the face of certain disappointment makes him a very fine chap indeed.  Apparently.

"I did but see her passing by

And yet I love her, till I die ... "

Found another video showing Blackwall and Josephine relationship.

Looks like those two been passing love letters to each other if neither of them are romanced among other things they been secretly passing to each other.

Yes, the same Cole who talks about how Rainier likes to imagine what Josephine would look and feel like under her dress while staring at her from a distance. There is nothing stalker-like about that at all.

Are you this uptight in real life too? You must be a riot at parties.

Take them out a lot together and they'll flirt like mad. Eventually you'll get an option to ask about either one of them about the other. They'll confirm that they are sleeping together.

If you see someone you are attracted to, do you imagine what they feel like naked?

Boy, all the time....

Is abit surprising that josephine would be interested in Blackwall, he has less charisma then a wet turd, even if they get together i doubt it survives after his last personal quest happens, then again Josephine is dimwitted when it comes to relationships & didn't realise when my female elf was blatantly flirting with her so maybe not

I'm honestly not sure whether Kallen is an angry puritan or an angry feminist.

BlackwallxJosie is actually pretty cute. Too bad that I am now in doubt about pursuing Josie in my playthrough.

Oh, these days it doesn't need to exclude the other. Sex-negative feminism is the new norm it seems. Too bad because the sex-positive feminists are the best ones.

Neither. Just a person who is upset due to a video game bringing up unpleasant memories which clouded my judgement when replying.

I don't see the reasons for personally attacking anyone. If you are trying to be clever, you failed.

It's okay. I'm used to it. And in this case, I most likely deserve it.

Well, it's refreshing to see somebody admit when they made a mistake.

For my part, I apologize for my previous post. I was out of line.

Returning to the main topic, I still think that Blackwall and Josephine are a cute couple.

Well, I applaud you for admiting such. That takes some courage and I understand sometimes our personal issues can cloud our views on something.

In this case, I think Bioware meant for it to be a Princess being courted by a white knight type thing. Nothing torrid or dirty. Not every action or reaction due to sexual attraction is a naughty or an unwanted thing. I hope one day you feel confidant and healed enough to see it that way.

No, you didn't deserve to be personally attacked.  I don't agree with your stance in this thread at all, but you did nothing to deserve that.

That being said, he apologized, so it's not really an issue anymore.  It makes me happy when cooler heads prevail, especially on a message board.  Wiping away a single, proud tear today, BSN.

This is ridiculous. What exactly is there to fault? Sexual attraction is far beyond anyone's ability to control; the only thing that matters is how you react to these feelings. Unless you're totally devoid of any sexuality, you yourself have these same kinds of thoughts, and there's nothing you can do about them, all you can do is show discretion in what you say and how you behave. If anyone's at fault, it would be the Inquisitor for allowing Cole to stick around, despite his rather invasive ability to sift through people's inner thoughts and then blab them to everyone.

The way we think is not the way we sit and write a journal. These thoughts manifest themselves spontaneously in our minds and we can't erase them.

Yeah this. IF anything was creepy it was him watching her and making her uncomfortable. But since apparently Josie's fine with it I'm now whatever to this.

That said he's getting the noose. Josie's too good for his trifling ass.

Yeah, it seems so. I hadn't heard Josephine's dialogue on the matter so I was left with people telling me what she says.
