Yes, the same Cole who talks about how Rainier likes to imagine what Josephine would look and feel like under her dress while staring at her from a distance. There is nothing stalker-like about that at all.

So, you've never looked at someone and wondered what squeezing their bum would be like? Sure, it's creepy if you tell them (that's the sort of thing you share once you're actually in a relationship) but if having sexual thoughts about someone makes you creepy or a stalker, make sure you get in early for my creepy stalker party because seven billion people are attending.

Blackwall is apparently stalking Josephine in exactly the same way that I stalk the entire cast of The Avengers, simultaneously.

Hanako brings her own perspective to that, which is informed by her sexuality.  It's probably why she sees this as abnormal behavior.

That being said, I don't think there is anything unusual, abnormal, or "stalker-ish" about imagining what your 'crush' looks and feels like without clothes on.  And, in this particular case, I don't think that there is anything that suggests that Josephine isn't into him back.  In fact, quite the opposite, really.

No, I have never done anything like that actually.

If players do not romance Blackwall nor Josephine then both Blackwall and Josephine will become a couple....

Got to love Varric's romance banters.

And seriously, Blackwall? Don't wanna toy with the Inquisitor, but toying with Josie is fine?

Here is Sylvia's response on why she and Sheryl did it. I combined all the tweets into a paragraph for easier reading.

I can't recall who first suggested it but I remember thinking it would be fun for them to have a courtly romance With this elaborate Orlesian code of conduct for a romantic liaison that could never actually come to pass. It was also a chance for us to suggest relationships between the followers and the specialists, which helps make the cast feel more interconnected than otherwise. It's not an uncommon relationship in Orlais, so both Josephine and Blackwall are familiar with the concept of "idealized romance" and treat it as half-game, half-performance, even if some the other followers don't get it. Anyhow that was a little rambling but I hope it answers the question!

What I'm learning from this thread is: Nearly every human being alive is a stalker or a pervert according to some. And that no explanation no matter how true it is will change that because they say so. There's no real point me repeating what others have but it's pretty obvious there's nothing wrong with Blackwall's feelings towards Josephine, especially considering it's encouraged.

Especially if the recipient of Blackwall's feelings shares the same form of feelings back. God, some people really need to get over themselves.

Listened to the video, doesn't sound like they're a couple.

I don't remember Josie ever saying that she was with Blackwall.. she said that she liked him, but thought it would never go past "receiving flowers and stolen glances" or something of that nature.  I haven't watched the videos though

Make me vomit? No.

Make me unable to enjoy the romance arc? Yes.

It kind of works. Isn't Josephine supposed to be really naive when it comes to love? Well, not counting his plot twist, Blackwall is a knight straight out of a fairy tale. I can see Josephine going for that.

Josephine was really naive. But she isn't a little girl anymore.

Blackwall isn't a knight out of a fairy tale. He's a murderer guilty of serious war crimes who is being sent to join the Grey Wardens once Cory is killed.

There is absolutely no chemistry between the two, and personality wise they are incompatible.

This was just more handwaving and extremely poor storytelling from Bioware. The story in DA:I continues to be a huge disappointment.

Now Josephine and Cullen, that makes a ton of sense, especially considering the fact that they spend so much cooped up together in that War Room constantly flirting and exchanging glances and playing footsie. But Blackwall and Josephine makes absolutely no sense at all.

And just the thought of Blackwall flirting with anyone is just nauseating. He's a hideous bear.

Lol at the mentality of some posters here.

The accusations that Blackwall get basically amount to the real world accusation of :- "He's a creep !" That is the argument typically used by women who just hate some guy but cannot actually pinpoint why, it is the argument of "I am insecure but that's okay !".

As for Blackwall fantasizing about Josephine, I find it odd that people here speak as if no one else has not fantasized about anyone else and how they would look without clothes and what have you. Remember, Cole gets in your head and tells the whole wide world what you are thinking because he is a spirit. Sentient creatures who are not spirits have the ability of imagining and fantasizing and choosing not to act on it. Iron Bull fantasizes about Cassandra's and her armor, this is seen in some banter. No one is against that. Iron Bull fantasizes about having non consensual sex with Dorian in some of the party banter but no one has any issues with that. Talk about hypocrisy.

As for the notion that Blackwall and Josephine makes absolutely no sense at all, the same can be said for a Qunari Inquisitor romancing non Qunaris or Dalish Inquisitors who were brought up in isolation romancing non Dalish and non Elves or nonreligious Inquisitors ending up romancing Cassandra. You can even apply that to other Dragon Age games as well. Why would a Dwarf Noble or a Dalish Hunter romance an elven assassin who tried to kill them or a religious bard or a Witch of the Wilds ? Where is the compatibility there ? Where is the supposed chemistry there ? Or even Cullen and Amell in DAO, people love to fantasize about this right ? Where is the compatibility between the two exactly ?

What is that saying ? The heart wants what the heart wants, even that which is worst or best for it. We get sexually attracted to those what we find sexually appealing and have fantasies about them. This is perfectly normal. It just so happens that different people have different standards for sexual attraction. For instance, I value intellectual compatibility and fitness as the criteria that defines how sexually attracted I am to someone. Not pleasant demeanor or cuteness or what have you, which someone else might value.

As for the notion of being unable to enjoy the romance arc, do people assume that these characters live in a vacuum world where no one else might be attracted to the same people that their playable characters are attracted to ? That is like saying you expect people in real life to be this pure untouched or unexposed creature, which is just weird.

 Sigh...

Now Josephine and Cullen, that makes a ton of sense

I actually agree with this.

Their interaction during the game of Wicked Grace was cute and there was definitely chemistry there. Then I ran into a moment where a messenger from Josephine is asking when Cullen's Birthday is. In true Cullen fashion he grumpily asks why it matters and dismisses him. They're way closer in age and proximity as colleagues.

But it's easy to see why TPTB didn't go with it.

1)It would actually be a relationship and that would probably ****** people off that their LI isn't exclusive.

2)No point in them having a relationship when Josephine will end up engaged to Otranto either way.
