Am I the only one that was seriously disappointed by the LI choices in this DA? As a heterosexual male, I play a heterosexual male character on my first playthorugh almost always. I was totally put off by the fact that you have to choose between Cassandra, the hard-exterior typical "brute" female character and Josephine, the rich upper-class snob, if you are trying to pursue a heterosexual male LI. Literally nothing in the middle to choose from. It seems other sexual orientations are more fleshed out in terms of their options, which is awesome for the LGBT community, but kinda left me feeling a bit out in the cold. I plan on playing through a couple more times, but still I was surprised by the lack of choices.
It feels like Harding should have been that 3rd option for people who found Cassandra and Josephine not to their liking. It is RIDICULOUS that they left the flirt options in the game for her and you can't have it amount to anything. I purposely stopped engaging the other characters in hopes it would change that outcome but it had the same result.
I don't understand the decision to leave her in with all the flirt options intact yet not allow the romance to happen. It stinks of last minute gameplay changes and I'd love to understand why it was removed if that is truly what happened. If they are going to release her as a party member and LI in a DLC then that is fine, but why leave the prompts for her to say they will talk after the war and then have nothing come of it in the first place? They should have left it out entirely.
Stopped reading when you diminished Cass and Josie...

How do you feel about Cullen?
I felt about the same as I did for Harding until inquisition "Yeah he's hot, but who cares?" (A lot of people it turns out haha)
Essentially Harding is the same as Origins/DA2 Cullen, maybe they will develop her into a deeper character in the next 2 sequels. ![]()

I love how when people whine about Cassandra, they always do so in a manner that makes it clear they've never even talked to her.
If the first few times I talk to someone that is a LI in a game and they don't click right then, then they aren't for me. Also, women with short hair are an immediate "nope" for me, so I was already not going to go with Cassandra regardless of her dialogue tree. Just personal preference, so nothing wrong there. Why do I need to "actually talk to her"?

Stopped reading.
Yep. Just you. You are definitely the only one.......
Well apparently lots of people were fine with Cass and Josie as choices for the heterosexual love interest. Lots of responses saying "stopped reading when you diminished Cass and Josie", as if I'm not allowed to dislike those characters. Just seeing if anyone else had the same reaction as me. From the responses so far it seems most found Cass or Josie to their liking.

You judge characters romantically after one conversation... are we playing the same game??

I said "first few times". Few usually implies "3". I went down that path with Josie and Cass, wasn't interested. Thought Harding was the 3rd option. Was pissed when it wasn't. What is so hard to understand?

I do understand you, I just disapprove. Especially the whole 'short hair' thing, a tad shallow. I apologise for my last comment, I should have said you judge them after no conversations...

I would most definitely buy a DLC that allows this.

Not that I don't like her as well, but if she was voiced by anyone not named Ali Hillis, would anyone be as smitten? I don't really see too much clamoring for someone like Dagna, and she's more familiar as a character.

Her voice acting was excellent. I agree that it fit perfectly.

I'm pretty sure they would have been. There was a Scout Harding thread where people were already showing positive reception of this character before they even knew what she sounded like. Just the same, Ali Hillis has a good voice, but a lot of voice actresses do. I'm pretty sure BioWare could cast just about anyone with a pleasant voice and the forum would pretty much be the same on it.

I would go for a Dagna romance in a heartbeat...

Yeah, Dagna has that "Honest Nerd" thing going.. good natured but socially awkward due to dedication and focus on a subject.
So yeah.. Dagna and Harding should both be options..

Funny, Liara sounds so different.
There's this thing called "acting" where you don't recognize voice actors until they're pointed out to you because they're rather very good?
It helps that Ali Hillis isn't as overused a voice actress as Jennifer Hale is, y'know?

Sigrun, Dagna, and Harding... that would be quite the team up.
You got the fighter (sigrun), the sneaky scout (harding), and the magical expert (dagna) bringing all kinds of crazy crafts to the table.
They seem kind of similar, being all cheery, although Sigrun was kinda dark and suicidal under the cheeriness for a while.
The three should have their own little comic strip at some point...

Nah, I find stupid that people are willing to pay more for addition of character which is already in game but was not inteded as one of the sidekicks. I also believe that given to fact that Harding is voiced by Ali Hills which is v-a for Liara, is making this character somehow superior to others even if there is barely anything about Harding at all.
And last thing about it, is that I found Gaider´s reason of no dwarf romance realy hilarious given to fact that you are able to romance female elf of which the romance scene might looks like the same thing that Gaiders said is wrong.

I kinda just like her personality, she seems reasonable, caring and. . . normal. Don't get me wrong, Cassandra is great but she's very . . fierce, Vivienne isn't the easiest character to relate to and that's being kind, Sera could be described as fun by some, but she's more of an annoying little sister. It'd be nice to have a down to earth companion. The guys got Varrick for their buddy companion, Harding would totally fit for that role for females.

I think a big part of what makes Harding so popular is she's the only real rank-and-file soldier you can talk to regularly. It lets you feel like you're an Inquisitor of the people, always remembering where you came from. You're the Big Deal of the story, but you get to form this "unexpected" bond with Small Fry. It makes you think you're making your character more human.
EDIT: Sutherland plays a similar role, but you don't get as much interaction with him.
