Am I the only one that was seriously disappointed by the LI choices in this DA? As a heterosexual male, I play a heterosexual male character on my first playthorugh almost always. I was totally put off by the fact that you have to choose between Cassandra, the hard-exterior typical "brute" female character and Josephine, the rich upper-class snob, if you are trying to pursue a heterosexual male LI. Literally nothing in the middle to choose from. It seems other sexual orientations are more fleshed out in terms of their options, which is awesome for the LGBT community, but kinda left me feeling a bit out in the cold. I plan on playing through a couple more times, but still I was surprised by the lack of choices.

It feels like Harding should have been that 3rd option for people who found Cassandra and Josephine not to their liking. It is RIDICULOUS that they left the flirt options in the game for her and you can't have it amount to anything. I purposely stopped engaging the other characters in hopes it would change that outcome but it had the same result.

I don't understand the decision to leave her in with all the flirt options intact yet not allow the romance to happen. It stinks of last minute gameplay changes and I'd love to understand why it was removed if that is truly what happened. If they are going to release her as a party member and LI in a DLC then that is fine, but why leave the prompts for her to say they will talk after the war and then have nothing come of it in the first place? They should have left it out entirely.

You're not . . as a female who prefers female company, I can see where you're coming from. We got the polite and nice Josephine or Sera, the lady-child. Even if Cassandra was bisexual I wouldn't be interested either, she is too masculine. People can scream about male gamers being whiny bitches about the romances, but they really are surprisingly limited. You either have to like overly nice and polite to the point of boring or brutish and masculine, there's no in-between. This is probably due to the companions having their defining characteristic being overemphasized (Blackwall excluded). DA:O companions had a subtlety about them that made all of them likable and relatable on some level.

Edit: Who is Sutherland? I feel like I should know his name, but I can't place him.

I think a big part of what makes Harding so popular is she's the only real rank-and-file soldier you can talk to regularly. It lets you feel like you're an Inquisitor of the people, always remembering where you came from. You're the Big Deal of the story, but you get to form this "unexpected" bond with Small Fry. It makes you think you're making your character more human.

EDIT: Sutherland plays a similar role, but you don't get as much interaction with him.

Great point. Outside of that one scene with Iron Bull about meeting your soldiers, you seldom get the chance to actually properly interact with your underlings that aren't party members, which helps keep yourself grounded.

Shocking...but interesting. Well posted.

Every time I see her I think...>HALFLING<

Even Bianca looks like most the other Dwarfs in the game.  There kinda fuggly.    My first play through I don't do any romances and rush through.  Do have a human male Mage right now that is going to flirt with her and Dorian.  I'll prob have my Dwarven Shield flirt with her too.  Other wise she looks more like a kid sister when I talk to her.

PLEASE BIOWARE.

NO, just NO. This should not be a DLC. This falls under the "Patches" that will give us content that they ran out of time to complete.

I didn't dislike either character, but I honestly would have preferred more variety with the love interests than choosing between two Andrastian human women.

I'm really surprised that there hasn't been a dwarven love interest so far, particularly given the positive fan response to Sigurn and Varric.

If there's enough of a positive response, perhaps DLC might change this, similar to how Cullen's fate was changed because there was enough of a positive response to bring him back as a character, and finally an adviser and potential love interest?

again why would you care if she was a romanicable option or not? Keyword is option, if you don't like it, don't do it. Hell the author even suggested a DLC - you don't even have to buy it

Being able to continue a Scout Harding would be one of the first things I'd want from a continued story DLC. Cassandra and Josephine were fine, but neither really appealed to me as a romance option.

That...*sigh*

That is not what he said.  -_-

This particular misquote makes me tired.

At first I was going to say the same but, re-reading the original comment, he did says sex scenes in Origins made him uncomfortable because dwarven girl had a "petite" build/childish feel when he "had" to explain himself on his poorly-received jokes. Which I can agree with ; but tbf DAO sex scenes were various levels of creepy for anyone.

I support a Harding romance.  She's sweet, brave, caring, and a little bit deadly.  Awesome all the way.

BTW, didn't Gaider leave Dragon Age behind to work on a different Bioware project?  A new writer might have more enthusiasm for such a concept.  After all, we already HAVE dwarf romances, just not dwarf romance partners...

And Josie and Solas romances were conservative compared to Sera and Bull.  Yet they seem to be rather popular.  Plus, they KINDA already opened the door with having a Dwarf Inquisitor romances with the above two and Blackwall, right?

I don't know, for a Qunari, Cassandra seems rather fitting actually.

I wouldn't mind if BW added her as a LI at some point - good for those who are interested - but what about us straight girls? Where's our dwarf LI? Hmm? Where's Varric (Bianca is married and can jump over the battlements for all I care) or some other dwarf? A dwarf LI was something that many had hoped for and to me it wouldn't be fair if female dwarf LI was added but not a male one. I really wanted to romance a male dwarf with my elf lady. I wouldn't care a bit if they added ten new LI just for guys because it's not about that, it's about race option that would be missing from straigh female players. It would be a really crappy thing from BW to add only a female dwarf LI.

Good point.  AAAANNNNNDDD...we know they could code one in.  After all, Extended Cut, right?  It might take a little while, but we know they have the technology, they CAN rebuild it.  :P

Is there any romance specific dialogue with harding in Jaws of Hakkon, considering she gets more conversations in it?

While I'm not opposed to a dwarf LI, I'm very much opposed to a Scout Harding LI, but that's largely because I don't like LIs who are, in pretty much every aspect of their character, mundane. Or really party members. I just think she's so boring, her somewhat Alistair-like adorkable personality aside.

I'm on the fence for a Harding LI. I think she's cool, but I don't think I could see her as anything but a friend.

I think that if they added romance with her in DLC, it would make sense, considering you can flirt with her already.

It would be weird if she returned in DA4 as a companion and a romance option for new PC though. So many heartbroken Inquisitors. :P

With how much Varric was asked as a LI, I was very sad and surprised he isn't in DAI. (really, and I was so disappointed by Bianca... like, worst dwarf ever.)

But, Cullen has became a LI after three entire games, so...still hope somewhere?  :crying: sigh...

I like both Dagna and Harding. I would roll an Inquisitor just for them in a moment, if I knew something came out of it. (no matter gender or race. I prefer ethero romance, but if the character is good, I can step out of my preferences)
