It is if you make a mostly different World State.

I find it almost useless to play two times in the same World State, but I guess that's just me (unless of course you'd want to test out different types of Inquisitors within one specific World State).

I'm currently playing my second full playthrough (one that I plan to complete). Its World State is about 85% different than my first one, and "darker" too, compared to my canon playthrough's World State. In my first playthrough my Warden was still alive, Morrigan didn't have a child (and didn't romance the Warden), Redcliff had been helped (in Origins), Connor was alive, all party members of previous games recruited, alive and well, etc.

In my second playthrough the Warden is dead (killed the archdemon), Morrigan has a child, Zevran died, Merril's clan was killed, Varric wasn't friend with Hawke, Alistair became a drunky, Redcliff was not protected, Connor died, Grimoire was not given to Morrigan, Urn of Sacred Ashes was poisoned, Leliana left (in Origins)... etc. Additionally, my Inquisitor in that second playthrough is 'harsher', always going for the red fist icon dialog choices when available (the 'harsh / rude / direct' choices).

I think that I could managed a third playthrough with another World State and another type of Inquisitor, not sure yet, I'll see how the second playthrough ends up.

But yeah, bottom line is that I think it's worth playing at least two times, definitely, the content is there for that.

I am just starting my second playthru. I was a mage the first time and this time I am a warrior. I don't care as much for the combat as I am in the middle of just this fog of fighting and I can't tell who or what I am doing other then slashing Cassandra's head off, I would imagine. I think I like the fight style of being back some so  maybe play as an archer this time instead. There are things you can change to make it interesting. Hell, I am playing it again in hopes that I will understand it in the end lol

For anyone who's tried out different world states:  are there significant differences for some settings, or just a collection of minor tweaks?

I'm thinking about trying a "grimdark" replay, and I created a world state that was more or less the worst options with frequent resolution through murder.  I also created a "mage hero" world state where both heroes were mages who always either did the right thing, or sided with the mages in grey areas.  But it will be disappointing if I put hours into either world and find pretty much everything to be the same.

I've started my second playthrough with a mostly different World State (as I explained in my post above). And, so far (still need to get past Haven) most of the changes were either text-based (codex entries) and a few of them were talked about/spoken of. I won't "spoil" which differences I noticed, I'd leave that for you to discover, but don't expect too many significant differences (there are some, but so far anyway it's really nothing mind-blowing). I guess that one example I can give is the NPC at Haven next to the Requisition table just outside the fort. In that second playthrough she speaks about Loghain and what happened to him; her dialog changed according to what I applied in the Keep (in comparison to my first playthrough's World State, in which Loghain was executed by Alistair).

You don't spend an entire game building up the Inquisition so you can battle Corypheus. You spend an entire game building up the Inquisition so you can invade Orlais, Ferelden, Tevinter and the Free Marches.

You hit the nail on the head for me. The combat design is my most disliked thing in DAI, and every time I think of having to slog through hours of it again, I lose my nerve to start a new character. *sigh*

I kind of feel the same way, still trying it on nightmare as a mage though, first playthrough was hard. Honestly it doesn't feel that much more difficult, it's just a few more trips back to camp than when I played it on hard.

Hell yeah. This is chess, not checkers, people.

Sure, try doing different types of playthroughs. I'm on my fourth and it hasn't gotten tiresome so far . . though I am using a cheat engine so I don't need to pick herbs and collect minerals. The first playthrough I did was rushed for the main story, but the others that have followed it have been different classes and personalities. Leaving certain areas untouched left said area's content fresh for future playthroughs. Experiment.

But ya, side missions literally have no affect on the end of the game. It's more for exploration and lore.

I'm on my second playthrough and potentially planning more. I may take a break and play some Far Cry 4 but I'm sure that if/when we see some worthwhile DLC I'll pick it up again in a heartbeat.

I always though that romances had a big enough impact on the game to add replay value, but I'm a sucker for romance so hey.

Altough... while I always tell myself "I will try ALL the romances!" to this day I have yet to finish a playthrough where I romanced somebody else :')

Too much grinding and empty quests for me to be interested in a replay.

On my second and enjoying it as much as the first. I accidentally missed quite a bit of companion things on my first playthrough, so I'm excited for those, and the new world state brings a fair amount of interesting things (Chracters switch, different hawke, etc).

I think it's worth it if you thoroughly enjoyed your first run.

is any rpg really? Though i have heard things are different if you choose different races. maybe not as definable, but mildly. I know the ball gives you 10 extra points at the start if you're human at least.

If you import different world states and do completely different things in each playthrough, then yes it is. I'm on my 4th playthrough right now and it's just as good as the first. Have a 5th planned in the future as well. When ME3 came out I played 2 playthroughs before it got repetitive. With DAI, your world state as well as the multitude of choices you get to make in the game itself make it feel like a new game every time. Can't get enough of this game.

In Origins i did 5 playthroughs, with this game im on my second and it feels stale already, there is no "Gut wrenching choices" to be made and the grind is seriously not fun the 2nd time around.

Looks like in future patches (article in Game Informer released today) they will be adding content in patches that didn't make it in for initial launch, so I'm looking forward to future plays :) Replay value is already there, just change up your keep to decisions you'd never make and see what happenes. the YOLO button was great in beta lol

I may be wrong, but it seems like Alistair has a significantly larger role if he's a warden. Also, there's surely significant differences in Morrigan's story depending on whether she has Kieran or not.

I've already done 1 play-though.  Currently doing my second.  Definitely plan on a 3rd.  And possibly a 4th.

Why wouldn't it be worth replaying?  You make different decisions.  Different Divines.  Different romances. I need my ideal world-states.  It's going to take a lot of time to get that.

My first guy was a very fast run ~30 hours.

I started a second one and put in the same amount of hours but not as far, but got sidetracked with RL and won't get back to it for a few weeks still, so likely I'll be started a 3rd one then when I have more time and hopefully some bug fixes and fan mods will enhance the experience and I can throw 100 hours at it.

YMMV, but no farming schematics, dragons dropped good loot, no farming for my specialization, just as poignant changes, characters that didn't feel like an after school special trying to teach me some moral lesson, healing, tactics and generally more choices to create a character plus oh a toolset that offers a few hundred mods.

As for replaying DAI, ive tried. Can't get past the chargen screen when I start thinking about farming for armor schematics.

You can buy all Tier 3 schematics that you could possibly need from merchants.

Choosing a specialization feels meaningful and characters respond to your choice, just like they respond to almost anything you do, on a side note.

Characters were dull and didn't seem like real people for the most part, and after a while, they just had nothing to say anymore, making the game feel lifeless after a while. DAI still has new stuff happening to your companions after 80 hours of gameplay.

I finished my Inquisition play through after 78 hours. I can't decide if making a few different choices along the way is worth replaying Inquisition again. You shape the world of Thedas but the way it's handled makes it feel extremely underwhelming.

The entire Mage Templar War is taken care of in one mission. The entire Orlesian Civil War is taken care of in one mission. There's no reason to build up your Inquisition. It doesn't matter how many strongholds and allies you have. Power points are the only thing you're ever going to need. You spend countless hours gathering allies and building up your Inquisition into a mighty power that influences all of Thedas! So what's the grand finale after all of that? One easy boss battle with Corphyeus. Lol that's it?! Even Dragon Age 2 had a better final mission than that!

I played through it twice.

And I didn't even think it was a great game, just "merely" good.

I don't think I'll be doing any more playthroughs for quite a while (hoping for some serious mods), but 2nd time?
Even as someone who thinks the game has a LOT of issues, I enjoyed it, for the most part.

Yes, yes, yes! You pick up so much foreshadowing, especially involving Solas.

It's also worth taking different companions through the fade, to hear how they are taunted.

(To Blackwall) "There is nothing like a Grey Warden... and YOU are nothing like a Grey Warden"

Hey, how about a spoiler warning next time, Fade Demon!

yes it is. I try different races, and different choices. Although they are underwhelming its fun to roleplay.
