One of the shards appears to be in or on the big tower in the middle. I tried climbing up it and can't, and I tried climbing in it but the space seems too small. It's the tower near the dragon and dragonlings. How do I get the shard? Thanks for any help!

You have to climb up the left side (as you're looking at it from the entrance to the zone side).  I had a heck of a time figuring it out the first time.  But the second time was much easier.  You just have to be careful about where you jump or you will keep sliding back down the side.

Hope this helps!

This one was insanely annoying, lots of jumping and hope you don't either slide or accidentally jump backwards.  I started saving each time I made it to a new platform level.

Thank you. There's a part you have to "running start" the jump. Then you say "yes" and then slide back down the side a couple more times making you have to start all over.

I thought about that, but it wouldn't let me. The big dragon is still alive, and it said I'm "in combat".

Just kill the dragon first. It took me 10 min to get to it, even knowing exactly what path to take.

use a female character like cass or sera, they have smaller body frames and I found it a lot easier than trying to get myself or iron bull to parkour that annoying thing.

I was about to punch my computer trying to do this.  I was using my human warrior and kept falling off.  Try after try, just kept falling off...  Then I read this thread, switched to Solas and BAM!  first try.

Regarding the frickin shard in the frickin Hinterlands dragonling area (You KNOW the one).

Whomever at bioware thought this would be a good idea or somehow entertaining obviously never lived through the 80s, an era marked by the mistaken notion that jumping in video games was the single greatest design innovation ever. You see, those of us that lived through this time understand well the limitations of this particular idea (it's boring after three key taps and frustrating after thirty). We used to call it mario-ing - derisively.

In a time where graphics and other media have developed to incredible levels, where story is complex and compelling and worlds are often more fleshed-out than most novels or even series of novels and more creative efforts are poured into video games than even blockbuster movies, it is always a little shocking to find that someone thought, yes, we can make a frustratingly imprecise jumping mechanic the sole barrier to completing a quest fun. This is what the more rational among us refer to as voiding one's bowels in the bed of creative thinking.

Jumping is for game movement flow and navigating minor barriers. Making twitch game features central to completing a quest, ANY quest, however, when it comes to story or combat driven games, it is bad design. It slows down pacing, it breaks the fiction and grates on the nerves of anyone not given to suspending disbelief for the sake of absurd, paper thin premises. Want to add climbing? Great, then add climbing. This, by definition, involves one's hands. Don't want to add the use of hands? Then don't add climbing. It's that simple.

Now, while I have completed the task in question a couple of times, and have no difficulty recognizing the necessity of creating barriers to one's goals in these games, I'm just confused as to why an otherwise quality studio would stoop to such a ridiculously cheap design choice and try to call it entertainment. In the next patch, move the damn shard. Or keep it there and add twenty dragon scales... or something. Make the effort required worth it.

Just loose the jumping, or remove collection, loot and quest items from places you have to jump to get to. Quizzy is a human, elf, dwarf or qunari NOT a mountain goat or minotaur, or some such.
