Huntress with 'Claymoar'.

Finally, I decided to give a shot to Claymoar(Tagging Deerber and other claymoar fans). I dreaded that gun because clipsize and I suck at reload cancel. Before, whenever i tried it, more often than not phantoms stabbed me in guts. So I stayed away, until now.
Now I like it. Let me rephrase it. I REALLY REALLY like it and started to put on every kit. SI is deadly with it too.

However unlike others , I do better with Claymoar-Huntress than Claymoar-GI. I wonder why? Probably warp/warp ammo and DC stagger for that killer blow by the high lord(. Jeez cant believe I used the word. Am I a fanboy now?)

Edit: Still cant reliably reload cancel. But it still works.

Also.. OP.. volus adept. :-)

Mud? No. Jelly looks, smells and tastes better. It's also more fun to clean it off later...

in that case, I believe apricot has already been mentioned as a suitable flavor.

So many answers!

The obvious answer - Best class is the one you do best with!

The noob answer - AIU or TGI (Infiltrators)

The boring, really boring, most dull answer in the universe - GI

My Answer, I do best with - TGI, Shadow, GE, TSent, and Fury - so mostly Infils with a smattering of everything else!

The answer if you're a noob who's aim is to die quickly - Juggy

The answer if you can't be bothered and want to phone-it-in v Geth - Krogan Vanguard

The answer if you're a noob who wants to look like you know what you're doing but still die a lot - GI

The answer..............

:D

Asari commando with your best shotgun . 6-6-6-5-3 (all passives for weapon damage + headshot damage).

Pros:

0) Cool and sexy.

1) Stasis + headshot against fast (and fast-shooting) mooks. Since you can stop any mook and even mini-boss with Stasis instantly, it improves your chances to stay alive.

2) Not sensitive to lag - in case of lag just adjust the time between casting the stasis and headshot.

3) Warp + Throw for powerful BE against bosses.

4) Not dependant on equipment. On the second thought, taking the Geth scanner will be a good idea for increasing awareness. Also, AP or drill rounds works well on such setup. Also, you can cheese with incendiary rounds and warp, but then I would recommend using Valkyrie instead of Commando.

Cons: Non.

PS You need to learn how to deal with these pesky Dragoons on crack (warp + shoot shoot + throw will do the job).

PPS Use soft cover.

After playing gold regularly for several months, including runs with the incendiary Reegar Kroguard vs. Geth (on White, no less) and the incendiary Piranha GI vs. anything, I finally decided to try the infamous TGI Harrier to see what all the fuss was about.  Aaaannd.... wow.  That combo really trivializes gold, more than any of the others I've tried.  And it's only a Harrier IV.

Saber Volus Merc > Claymore Volus Adept :D

Falcon Volus Merc can be more fun than either.  :D

Also, as someone who really struggles with headshots in general and as a consequence the Suppressor in particular, I was playing the Volus Adept with a Suppressor and a variety of SMGs yesterday.  I'm rusty, so started out on SIlver but it really was ridiculously easy.  Switching to Gold with consumables, the difference in difficulty was pretty negligible because of the playstyle required. Highly recommended for players who are cautious in nature (like me), especially if transitioning to Gold - Stasis bubble is one of the great team powers.  **** you, Phantom!!!

Also, 90% of my games on PS3 are Gold pugs, usually searching for a particular faction (cos, Collectors) in an unknown location. I'm beginning to lose the plot over how many times I land on Giant.  It's worse than ever.  And the AIUs and Juggs.  TGIs and Talons are there too, but I've noticed a lot fewer Geth Troopers, and of those more were Flamerless builds.  Warlords are still prevalent in Geth lobbies.

Funnily enough, I don't particularly enjoy playing any of those kits and only do so for the Challenges, and yet I live in fear and dread of running into someone from BSN while doing so. I should maybe think about getting a life.

The thing about the Saber is that it allows one to keep one's distance very effectively, making the Volus less stressful to play.

As for Giant, yes, 7 of my last 9 pugs have been Giant or Giant Hazard. Why?

If you fear playing with BSNers, hit me up for a game. It's not possible to be a weaker player than I am. My role is to make everyone else look good.

I could have sworn it was Gold but it's been so long since the topic came up that I could be wrong.

Silver is roughly equivilent to "Normal" or "Veteran"

Gold is equivilent to Veteran/Hardcore

Platinum is equivilent to Hardcore/Insanity

I can still recall my first game of MP on Bronze after doing pretty well on most of the campaign missions.

The shock was very palpable.

Bronze or silver really aren't harder than SP Insanity.  Maybe if you did make it comparable by not taking any equipment at all it would be similar.  It wouldn't be harder because of longer gate duration, less armor DR and lower enemy shieldgate.  It might have more enemies in the same amount of time, but that is level design and not real difficulty.

Gold was similar to Insanity when the game came out since they shared most of the difficulty variables.  Then they inflated Gold HP to keep pace with power creep from balance changes and DLC guns.  Then they dropped shieldgate to make it just something of a nuisance rather than a mechanic.  And then we got a few new units and interesting wave compositions for some factions to make them annoying.

SP still has 100% shieldgate, which is a hindrance.  The chief difference is that you don't get 4 Phantoms at once basically ever.  The other difference is that outside of Vanguard (who can be invincible in SP like in MP) or Sentinel (who can stack way too much DR now), you end up with fewer overall shields since there is nothing like a Cyclonic to magically give you +500 or 1000 shields.

When they ported most of the MP balance changes into SP it did make Insanity a bit easier, if you used weapons that benefited a great deal from the changes.  But for something like the Javelin, you have to basically use one of 3 builds to make it anything remotely as good as in MP since there are no Phasic rounds and you have 100% shieldgate to bust.

It's the ease you can generate combos and pretty much pause the action while looking around to access the situation. I can play insanity while eating a sandwich.

I completed a Trilogy playthrough on Insanity recently.  Nothing came close to Gold level MP difficulty.  Sure, you can voluntarily gimp yourself by using low level weapons, not leveling up or trying not to use the power wheel in order to give yourself a challenge, but the SP game is just easier, on any setting.

I would go so far as to say that the Collector Ship mission in ME2, if attempted with an NG+ non-Infiltrator, is the only part of the entire single player campaign which provides a challenge comparable to Gold or Platinum in MP.  Before playing MP regularly on Gold and occasionally on Plat, I would have struggled a bit (as a non Infiltrator) with the Atrium on Grissom Academy, both direct Kai Leng fights and the final part of the battle on London.  But after 1500 hours of MP the hardest bit of SP was taking down Marauder Shields.
