Somewhere I heard the developers mention that the CC uses "neutral" lighting in order to help players get a sense of what their character looks like "in general."

 

This is all fine and good... however.

 

It would be been even better if they kept in mind the very real cognitive processing difficulties with judging certain colors in the constant presence of that green background (example of a simultaneous contrast effect). This is, of course, why certain colors look good during CC only to look way out of proportion once our character is in most other contexts. And vice versa.

My Inquisitor's eyebrows did look greenish in the character creator.  I made a leap of faith and assumed their actual color was the same as the hair.

 

Thank god I was right.

Thank god I was right.

 

Yeah. It's a contrast effect, specifically simultaneous contrast, and it's something people in Vision Science study (and something artists have known for a very long time).
