Wary of said link. There are no updates on Nvidia.com, no beta drivers for the alleged "344.80" -- 344.75 is, in fact, the latest version. I don't download "drivers" from "custhelp.com", sorry. So I call shenanigans on the entire thing.

Hey so saying "If you'd like to correct this problem set your game to ultra" doesn't really help those of us who don't have a grand to waste on upgrading our computer at the moment. I know the engine is really high performance which is why the standards are so dang high on it but it's still annoying.

Before all of this I was able to play on mostly low-medium settings with mesh quality set to high (to get rid of plastic hair). I had no performance issues and the game still looked beautiful (albeit not as beautiful as someone with a better rig of course but WAY better than my husband's xbox 360.) Now you're telling me that unless I upgrade my computer the freckles and facial textures that I chose to put on my characters aren't going to show up? I'm not exactly okay with that. How my characters look when I create them is an important part of the immersion and storytelling aspect for me. It helps me create the character I want to make and form their personality.

Is there a chance for any sort of fix or improvement for those of us who have less powerful systems and still want to enjoy the game? I understand having to set it on low but I was already doing that and it looked fine. Now it feels like you're telling me "Oop too bad, we don't care about the gaming experience you were having before because you're not elite enough to play on ultra."

Complete whitewash of fog when running game in SLI. You couldn't see jack in caves

I'm running single 970, haven't seen any fog. Is it SLI related?

I've just edited my post after realizing that the performance drop I experienced post patch was due to crossfire being disabled. I have no idea why it got disabled in the first place, but after enabling it, the game performs as it prior to the patch.

It's a SLI specific issue, so it wouldn't happen on a single card. In fact, I've turned off one of my 970s and the issues go away. I just would like the extra frames as I play on 2k.

It literally takes 10 seconds tops to find the official topic on the GeForce forums, amongst many others.

I was the one who used the word in the first place, it's other people who mistook my meaning and tried arguing about it.  And I have been trying to help people by suggesting things like Origin repairs, driver updates, etc.

My apologies then, thats tiring, I'm surprised the Devs even bother coming to this thread. So much whining and so little helping.

Saw that posted elsewhere, checked it out and realised why nothing's showing for me. This non-WHQL release is X32-only and I'm running X64. I retract what I said previously since it obviously exists through legitimate channels, but according to their forums regarding the release, it doesn't fix anything.

I really hope so. My PC is definitely not capable of playing the game on ultra. I love her but I know she's near obsolete for a gaming PC.

After I installed the patch 2 . I apply this setting below and I've played for about ton of hours without crash like before . I am using ULTRA . Hope this helps you guys .  :)

Through Origin:

1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title

2. Go to game properties

3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • ULTRA
  • HIGH
  • MEDIUM
  • LOW

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

So the hot fix should be out the same time as the patch was released; 33 minutes?

Ok, I did further testing with 344.80 and can confirm that the white fog issues isn't totally fixed. I forgot I removed the workaround for the low res textures because of the constant crashing I was having. So fog wasn't totally whitewashed because textures were all around low. When I implemented the fix, whitewash is back. Ugh, so frustrating. But I will make do. But I will confirm that shadows don't flicker and the game is running better in sli. I game at 2560x1440 and so now I maintain a solid 60 fps and i have yet to crash while in sli. I haven't tested single gpu performance yet, but the game is running a whole lot better ever since I removed the disaster that is 344.75.

I'm afraid I don't know enough about this specific issue to comment on it. If you have experienced performance problems related to Patch 2, please report them to @dragonage on Twitter or on Answers HQ. They will be able to provide you better technical support than I can. (Most of my computer knowledge is restricted to simply knowing that I am using a computer right now. Or at least I think I am.)

well the issue has been mentioned a lot in the Answers HQ but there has been no official comment on it, now dont get me wrong the game is far from being unplayeable but i dont feel comfortable having my CPU work at 95-100% for long periods of time, also load screen time has tripled

People are going to experience problems if they had the mesh quality set to low or medium before the patch.  Shader quality was unintentionally locked at "ultra" before the patch; after the patch, the shader and mesh settings are tied together.  So if you had the mesh set to low before the patch, now you'll need to have the mesh set to high to get the same shader quality you were getting before.  But since you already had mesh set to "high", you're only going to see a small visual downgrade from shader quality going from ultra to high to match mesh being set to high, and should get a bit of a performance boost.

Has anyone here asked/adresses the scars being gone from main player models, and scars being invisible on the character creation screen?

What? No, it's not. And yes, it fixes everything.

According to this post, there are no X64 drivers for 344.80. I try to avoid BSOD where possible. (Normally I'm fairly adventurous with updating drivers, but after DA:I's hotfix yesterday, I'm a little gunshy without forum confirmation.)

Edit: Apparently I need coffee. He said XP64, not X64. Funny how a letter changes a lot. That said, the part about it not fixing a lot of the issues you stated still stands. That's confirmed here and on those forums.

Oh, yikes.  I take back what I said.  That URL looks like a phishing site posing as the actual Nvidia website.

If you have to report bugs via twitter I wonder if the only solution is somehow playing the game via twitter.

XP 64. As in the operating system Windows XP, for which there hasn't been a new and updated GPU driver for quite some time, 32/64 bit or not.

Just so you guys are aware, I play on medium/high settings and mesh quality does not impact performance much, so if you want the game to look like how it was pre-patch, use Ultra shaders and Ultra mesh quality. It's the terrain/vegetation that are the main performance hits I found, not the mesh.

Hey guys, for those of you with the game freezing on you for a few seconds all the time, I ran the repair game option through Origin and so far it seems to have fixed it, although I have noticed it hiccup for like a second, so far it hasn't dead frozen, might be something to try just in case if you haven't already.

Ok, Bioware I would like to apologize for ripping you guys due to the unstableness my game has been since launch. I tried everything...EVERYTHING to stop the CTD, whiteout fog, and flickering shadows. But nothing worked. Then I learned that Nvidia's driver 344.75 is AWFUL. And they stealthed a hotfix 344.80 http://nvidia.custhe...-driver-344.80

That solved all my issues. I can now run on SLI, buttery smooth, and played 2hrs straight without a single crash, which is a world record for me, fog is fixed, and flickering is gone. So any of you Nvidia users out there, try clean installing 344.80 because 344.75 is AWFUL, I repeat, AWFUL. Saved this game for me and now I can enjoy myself.

Bioware, please post this in a tweet or blog. 344.75 is broken for this game.

That's weird.  I've been playing the game for over 100 hours on the 344.75 driver.  No major issues to speak of**.  Maybe my system isn't uber enough.

**Until that last patch.. Last night my game crashed to desktop. First time that's happened to me.  When I started it again, the patch downloaded and applied.  Now I have the shiny hair problem because my mesh is set to ultra and the patch forced shadows to low.  LOL.  Plus, Cassandra finally showed me her boobs last night after the patch.  Apparently I didn't get to see them in full fidelity.  I feel cheated. =P

To change subjects a bit, does anyone else find it strange that the shader setting can be controlled by supplying an argument to the program but the mesh setting can't?
