The 344.80 non-WHQL release only addresses three things (specifically stated on every release statement).

"GeForce Hotfix driver 344.80

This is a beta driver that addresses the following issues:

  • GeForce GTX 980 displays texture shimmering when Texture Filtering Quality set to High Quality.
  • GPU outputs fuzzy lines over DisplayPort after a period of time following driver updates.
  • System hang up and black screen after power on with some monitors (DP1.2 & 4K/60Hz) + GTX980"

I am not running on a DisplayPort, I am not having black screens, and I'm not experiencing shimmering on the 344.75 drivers. I had *no (graphical) problems whatsoever* prior to the DA:I "hotfix" yesterday. Suddenly I have system lag, missed frames, shortened draw distance, and a host of other issues -- introduced by the hotfix which specifically reduced graphical settings and wasn't tested with higher-end systems.

If someone is helped by those drivers, awesome. They're not going to do anything for the rest of us, as you've been insisting they will. Even the SLI guys have reported no changes with the 344.80 drivers.

For me I have been getting no flickering and the constant CTD has stopped. Just putting it out there what has worked for my system so far. i been playing for 3 hrs now and no problems but not all systems are the same.

"Blend the age layer"?  I think I have an idea of what you're saying, but it doesn't quite make sense.  Are you saying the high mesh setting does something to "hide" old age characteristics on certain face models?

Yes.  Don't ask me what, though.  The "age layer" is much, much more prominent with lower settings, resulting in things like sudden and irrevocable aging.  Pure speculation - there are two layers, the base face and the age layer.  The creator blends the two.  On low, there is no blending and you just get whatever the raw age layer is.

Do you mean the dai patch giving you those issues or the nvidia hotfix?

This, exactly. Idk why you're even mentioning something that has absolutely nothing to do with the Nvidia drivers. Obviously not everyone had problems with 344.75, that'd be ridiculous, but most of those who did, experienced major improvements after installing the newest beta driver.

None of that has anything to do with the performance issues in DA:I after the second patch, though. Those are two completely different and separate issues.

Alright, I guess the bottom line is that once the hotfix drops, if you're still having problems with age marks or missing scars, try turning your mesh/shader setting up.

This is reminiscent of how DAO gave characters black eyeballs on the lowest settings.

Given that I haven't changed my nvidia drivers in nearly a month, clearly it was DA:I's hotfix that gave me the issues, since it's literally been 24 hours of consistent issues ever since they updated and not one hitch before.

Anyway, just putting it out there that the issues are solely DA:I.

O I was getting confused because dai is patch 2 not a hotfix, the hotfix hasn't released yet.

The Nvidia driver hotfix and the DAI patch 2 hotfix are two different things.

So while i will not install a beta driver, i rolled back from 344.75 to 340.52 and played an hour, The stuttering is mostly gone, only some rare micro stutters not like before where i simply could not play because of stutter and freezing for ten seconds or more.

While the 344.75 nvidia driver worked pre patch without problems, post patch it was a mess. So i believe there is indeed something wrong with it.

Sorry for my bad english.

The Nvidia driver hotfix and the DAI patch 2 hotfix are two different things.

Yes but when he said the hotfix was giving him problems from his post someone could misread and think it was the nvidia hotfix giving him issues.

It is possible to play all in tac cam, I am doing it.

To force characters to hold their positions, make sure you set tactics to "defend (name of that character)" for all characters. And then proceed to turn off AI in all ranged characters. So far I have it on for melee characters and is ok, of course I still select most of the skills for them too (I am only using one melee character, a tank in the party) and is working well enough.

Once you do that, they respect much more the hold position order. If you are unsure when to pause again, just keep an eye to see when the skill you ordered is done, they will go to basic attack, time to set another one.

I'm not sure if you and I bought the same game. How can you possibly play all in tac cam is beyond me. I could name you many instances when/where the current tac cam in DAI is completely useless and it will ensure you a lost battle or at least 1,2 or all of your companions knocked out. Yes, you can now mod the cam to zooming out at a decent level (not thanks to Bioware but to some modders who did it in 6 hours) but even then, you can't use that feature in closed/interior spaces because that would requires transparent ceilings/roofs which would take an awful amount of time in developing it in a semi open world like DAI (and I'm not excusing Bioware for not have worked on that feature either).

The graphics are a minor inconvenience. I started a new game and didn't even notice until it was brought up and I compared screenshots.

Would I like to see it hot fixed within the next 24 hours? Sure. Absolutely. I would love it if by the time I got home from dinner and watching Guardians of the Galaxy on blu-ray, it was already done.

However. It is a minor inconvenience. So my graphics aren't AMAZING right now. I'll live. It's not impeding my life. It's not even impeding my gameplay experience short of "oh, slightly lower quality textures/meshes/whatever."

I said this before when people decided it was okay to send death threats to Bioware and boycott them over five minutes. I'll say it again.

First. World. Problems.

Couldn't have said it better myself.....some people need self evaluation geez. Regarding the "$70 down the drain" comment, Hey i spent that same amount myself on the digital deluxe edition. It was my own choice to make, knowing full well there may or may not be issues. I'm human, so sure, if it was a complete and utter disaster of a choice, and I would be upset, it was a choice I Made. And I'd have no right to make death threats or come on an internet forum to type in some hate speech. Grow up. We all have to eventually. This comment is not directed toward the person above, whom I quoted.

I think with most people disappointed with the game, it's not the money but more the time they feel wasted looking forward to the games release.

Bioware messed up in regards to setting expectations.  That's just an opinion, but I'm pretty comfortable with it after "Made for PC by PC gamers."  I don't think they should be crucified for it, just fix it, which they are doing.  And, honestly, I would like an apology from the nitwits who made the video.  It was a lie, and I don't care for being lied to so overtly.  I don't blame every employee for it and I don't expect the apology, but it'd be warm and fuzzy.

So can anyone answer when the patch is coming out that will fix the collection quests that are glitched. I mean I love listening to Dorian banter as much as anyone especially since he will undoubtedly always screw up the mission. But how about fixing the content in the game already. Wouldnt need better radar if the damn pieces of things we were supposed to collect could be found or regions explored or seeds gathered. But hey Sera is funny and cant ignore multiplayer where people can spend more money.

Time is money too. BTW why is everybody waiting for the hotfix release? Isn't it just the same as using the parameter as described in the OP?

103 pages, can anyone summarise if there is issues that should make me avoid this patch?

Also please make the healthbar on enemies bigger and add an option to show their HP number without tactical view thanks.

Still waiting for them to ackowledge the flaws in DA2 so... not likely at all.

Is this just me? Installed patch today because I haven't had time to play for a few days and now my characters hair has gone all shiny and plastic even on ultra settings where it was fine previously. And it's just my player character, all npc hair seems fine. In attempting to fix the shiny hair is lower graphics setting they're actually made it worse for those able to play with higher graphics.

TOP JOB Bioware.
