You've downloaded the hotfix and you still have the command line tweak in there?

It says on the OP "Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line."

They are referring specifically to the shader workaround, not the hitching cutscenes workaround. They do completely different things.

Question, are you seeing it on the black and Blackwalls hair only? Because that has always shined a little bit.

That must be it, my mistake.  *facepalm*.  Even the red hair has some shine to it (my Inquisitor's hair), but for some reason I was thinking it was still shinier than usual.  I looked back at my old screenshots and realized that it's back to normal.  Wow, silly me.

This probably won't help, but what do you have your mesh quality set to? Anything lower than high quality causes super shiny hair. Or did before the patch. No idea if that's still the case.

No, I have it on high setting.

Same issue as NikOtinO7 now. Game is, for the first time, completely unplayable on pc.

My patch experiences thus far: First launch, played over 30 hours with near flawless performance with a mixture of High/Ultra Settings (and fade touched). Patch 2 gave me the shiny hair, and a weird glowing sparkle lines in some areas; performance was worse (but still playable). Post hotfix I cannot play due to hitching and stutter. Marching templar/mages on title screen hangs for a second or two, then they speed up super fast to catch up, then hangs (and repeats). Trying to use menus caused the whole game to lag and become unresponsive. Finally was able to turn global settings to high, restarted, but to no avail.

In game I simply rran a few steps forward and turned. Game froze for 3 seconds, and then continued to stutter and hitch.

I literally cannot play now until ANOTHER fix hits. PC is a 3570k i5, 770 gtx windforce 4 gig, and 16 gigs of ram. Game is installed on an SSD.

EDIT: Restarting my pc fixed the problem. I have never had a game update require a full system restart, but im not complaining. Playable now :)

I rebooted. It did not help.

Just fired up the game to check the 'hotfix'

I can no longer select any replies to a conversation - you've completely broken my game.

What the hell is going on?

I've had this issue even before the patch (haven't tried with), but what helped for me was to go to my desktop (windows key, or alt tab). The game would go to windowed mode where it would play just fine, and if I clicked somewhere in the game (so it goes back to full size) the dialogue options return to normal. Same thing for the war room.

Thought it might help if it happened again before it is fixed. So maybe you don't have to restart the game/pc.

15 MB update did not help. Play is simply impossible.

I never whined about rare freezes
chtol and small bugs. But now it is simply impossible to play. Although the game before the patch worked 40-60 fps on ultra.

if you find an answer please share

So Mark Darrah just answered another tweet explaining to somebody the difficulty in making a walk toggle for PC.

Can somebody with twitter please ask him, "When will we be able to map things, ie. jump, to our 4th or 5th mouse button?"

Nobody here or in AHQ seems to know.

I think I MAY have found out the cause of the stuttering. I am pretty sure the Patch 2 created some issue with current video drivers. I know this may not be the case for everyone, and I am truly sorry about that, because I know how frustrating it can be...

I was running Nvidia 344.75 on my GTX 760 card, and as soon as the patch came out constant stuttering. Against my better judgement, I installed the 344.80 beta driver and did a clean boot of my PC, and voila, no more stuttering. This is on Ultra settings by the way. I think it may be possible rolling back to a previous Nvidia driver may work.

I know this little help to AMDers out there, and again, sorry. This is the fix that worked for me, after trying EVERYTHING else.

As I mentioned in the other thread, AMD put out 4.12 a couple of days ago that helped in a similar way for me. If you're on AMD and haven't updated drivers since Dec 9 I recommend trying the new driver. Fixed most of my post-patch stuttering in-game.

ETA: I have not yet tried the hotfix. Kind of... reluctant to try it.

Quick Question, you can run at 60 FPS or so in Skyhold Keep ??? I can't.

Upload a pic, i can wait.  -------> http://imgur.com/

My 660ti is Overclocked by Default. (It can goes more OC, but i haven't touch it)

I can walk SLOW MOTION in Skyhold Keep. It goes down to 17 FPS.

All settings LOW. Vsync-Off (or On), i have try many settings. (i can run many games, but Inquisition persist to low FPS even at LOW settings)

I'm afraid I'd need more detail to know what you're referring to, but in general I don't have much to update other than what's in the patch notes and what is being addressed specifically in the hot fix. Sorry.

And I know some people are sorta sick of hearing it, but have you tried reporting it on AHQ as well? They are able to provide more robust support than exists on the BSN.

AHQ provide robust support? No, no, not really no. They basically repost your blogs and refer to you guys while letting all us players run round like headless chickens suggesting new ways to run into walls to each other... AHQ is one big joke

Ok, I played with the patch about 4 hours yesterday (finally). I'm still too afraid to enable AO, but I already can play in full screen mode without enjoying directx crashes every cutscene. I don't see any difference in fps outide of cutscenes (it's pretty good), but cutscenes are noticeably more laggy, though still playable after I implemented the hotfix. No issues with drm either.

Of course invisible scars and shiny hairs are terrible.

I'm still getting super shiny hair (not just Blackwell's) on ultra mesh quality. Thought I had it on high but I just checked, and I must have bumped it up to ultra at some point. Most everything else is medium.

I've also not used any work arounds that might need to be reset. I've just been ignoring wierdness and rebooting after crashes.

Pull the mouse-smoothing slider all the way to the right. I know it makes no sense, but that turns mouse smoothing OFF and completely fixes the stuttering during turning for me. Also, on one of my systems I have to run "fullscreen" and not "fullscreen windowed" mode or I'll get lots of stuttering. So turn the mouse smoothing off and then try different display modes. Hopefully you'll find a solution.

This made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Yet it completely worked. I love you more then cookies.  :D

I apologise but I'm not at my gaming rig right now so I can't give you any hard data. I just didn't want you to stop considering other solutions when your card is newer than mine. :)

Sadly the hotfix did nothing for me. I am still unable to actually play the game as it crashes on attempting to load; regardless of which save file I select or if I use 'Continue' instead, the game still crashes and I have to use task manager to manually close it down. I've tried every work around and fix I can find and nothing has worked for me yet.

I was lucky and hardly had any issues or bugs, ones that weren't game breaking for me in any case, before the patch and the game ran relatively smoothly.

My drivers are all up to date, I've tried disabling options, restores, repairs, etc.

Just a note, so as to not confuse it with the other crashing and stuttering issues I've seen on here, the game runs fine until it's attempting to load a save file.

Is anyone else experiencing this on PC? Or possibly have insight into why the game is crashing like this? At this point I really just want to know what might be causing it, although I have heard it might be due to my save files being in the Hinterlands?

It'd be nice to have an option to rollback, I'd just like to be able to play. :(

I can't believe how much of a problem the Patch 2 has caused. Came home from work, sat down to play for a bit and the update downloaded. There was no stuttering, no freezing, no crashing, and a decent FPS BEFORE it updated. All of that has gone in the crapper since this update has taken effect. The game is unplayable.

I've tried everything to work around this problem. I was stupid enough to get the digital version and not a disk copy, so I could at least pass the updating. No point in looking around for fixes or workarounds and wasting my time.

Please, Bioware, fix this problem. I spent my hard earned money to play your game. Fix it. In the meantime, I'll play something that actually works.
