Hotfix works beautifully for me...things are back to the way they were prior to the patch (well graphics wise, I run the game on Ultra). I wasn't having any major issues anyways, just a few audio hiccups now and then. To all those who are still be having trouble...good luck and I hope you find resolutions to the problems you are encountering.

Update: Patch 2 Hotfix now live for PC

We have implemented a hotfix for Patch 2 on PC to address graphical issues our players have been experiencing. This fix ensures that the graphics settings are working correctly for everyone; however, players who are using lower graphics settings will notice changes to the visuals they are used to.

Before Patch 2, released December 9, shader quality for all PC users was being forced to run at Ultra. This impacted the performance of low-end machines and caused some unintended visual artifacts for users whose mesh quality was set lower than Ultra. As a result, users with Low or Medium mesh settings saw hair that was shinier than expected.

We attempted to address this in Patch 2 by binding the two settings so that mesh and shader quality were always the same. However, this fix wasn't properly implemented, and it forced shader quality to Low. We provided a command-line workaround Tuesday, but that still required players to ensure that the new shader quality matched their mesh settings.

This hotfix will correctly bind the mesh and shader settings and eliminate this issue. However, now that shader quality is being set correctly for everyone, players using lower settings will notice a decrease in the quality of visuals. This includes the removal of some features such as scars and freckles.

Most notably, the lower settings do not support blending of the age layer, so some users may notice that their Inquisitor (or custom Hawke) has aged considerably. And while this change is how it was originally intended to work, it could be understandably frustrating for people who created their characters before Patch 2.

If you would like to correct this change, you can set your mesh quality to High or Ultra. This will enable features that are disabled on lower settings, but may impact your framerate and performance.

We're sorry for any stress or confusion this may have caused, and we thank the community for helping us quickly identify and address this issue.

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

Through Origin:

  1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
  2. Go to game properties
  3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Through shortcut:

  1. Right Click Shortcut
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • Ultra
  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.

To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.

Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

As I mentioned in the other thread, AMD put out 4.12 a couple of days ago that helped in a similar way for me. If you're on AMD and haven't updated drivers since Dec 9 I recommend trying the new driver. Fixed most of my post-patch stuttering in-game.

ETA: I have not yet tried the hotfix. Kind of... reluctant to try it.

Updated my AMD driver with 4.12, but it didn't help that much. Slightly less stuttering, but the voice overs are still out of sync.

Before Patch 2 I finally fixed the game so my video card would stop crashing when I played on Ultra settings and maxed out on graphics settings. Now the game is back to crashing. I have higher than recommended system requirements and now I can only play the game on medium settings to even play the game.

My video card is a MSI GTX 760 4GB OC. Why can't I just play the game without issues?

The hotfix worked great on my end.  The only thing I've noticed that was negative was that the load times have really gone up.  I've had enough time to take out the trash, nuke some coffee and feed my dogs before the game finishes loading from the main menu.  Other than that, things are looking good.

So does the graphics workaround still function if you wanted the shader and the mesh settings to be different?

I can run all this games in: MEDIUM, HIGH or ULTRA SETTINGS.

Inquisition must have a problem similar to Watch Dogs with 4GB Ram Textures.

I can't affort to buy a 980 Nvidia Card with 4GB Ram right now.

Please i beg you Bioware, fix this issues.

I support your product, i buy it original.

I got DA: Origins (love Origins), got Mass Effect 3.

Please Bioware, fix this issues

I don't see any real issue with why you get 24 FPS. In both your videos you start by looking in a direction that has little to render, and the FPS gets lower as you move to look at a scene with much more stuff to render. That just signifies the lack of performance on your graphics card. You say low settings, but try and delete your "profileoptions_profile" in the saves, that should reset your graphics and controls. It might be needed and make it all back to normal.

Seriously look at both your videos, it shows 60 fps because there is little to render, and then it even goes higher in the first video as you move and look at an even LESS area to render, then it transition into a heavier area and the FPS drops accordingly.

This game is heavy. Way heavier than even Battlefield 4, that uses the same engine. I have 2 GTX780 in SLI and I can barely push between 46-60+ (frame rate cap them myself at 60fps) in 2560x1440p resolution, yet in BF4 I easily go beyond 80 FPS.

Something must have changed try to rest all options and restart computer.

This is the Issue, we can run Battlefield 4, NO PROBLEM.

You go to the website of "Can i Run it" and yes, you can run the game, in mayor fps drops.

Is clear a patch can fix this issues, lowering texture or something.

This hotfix doesn't seem to have caused as many issues as when the initial patch came out.

I wonder if it's because it's working for most people, or if it's because most people are now playing with Origin offline trying to avoid the patch.

Try uninstalling the 344.80 hotfix. It will do nothing for your card anyways. I don't use it.

Maybe it will fix your problem. or rollback driver to even before 344.75.

I know this sounds silly and obvious, but for the PC users still having problems: Have you tried uninstalling your graphic drivers and doing a clean reinstall?  That really helped me, both for the framerates and the loading issue.   AMD, for some stupid reason, doesn't have that option so I did it the ol' fashioned way by uninstalling, going into Safe Mode, running Guru3D and reinstalling the latest driver.  Guru3D works on Nvidia cards as well, so maybe that's a consideration for those still having issue after issue.

Friends, the problem with friezes associated with a parallel process that overloads the memory and crashes. Try to turn it off during the game and see whether there is a difference. It should be next on the list after the DAI. In the picture an example of one of these processes.
I do not understand very well what exactly is this process. But this method has helped me remove friezes.

I have problems after breaking up with a romance; I can't start a romance with IB now; can't restart the romance with Dorian (when I choose this option and talk to him again, I get the same conversation and the same option to restart the romance, thus nothing happens).

Pretty annoying seeing as I already played 40+ hours on this character :(

Don't know if this was also the case before the patch though, but it definitely after
