As one of the few ppl who actually didn't download the patch I'm wondering if it's save to patch & download the hotfix now...
I'm running the game currently on ultra with very little trouble.
Is it reasonably safe to patch now? I'd be worried about my character's appearance changing and also about general performance issues.
Thanks alot in advance.

Ugh and the stuttering is back. Happens randomly even when I'm sorting my inventory. Absolutely terrible.

Hmmmm well from personal experience (also play on ultra), my game is a lot better. Running smooth, I'm not having stuttering, loading times are faster and (I still don't know if this was solved by the patch) my banter bug appears to be gone :3

Ignoring the fact that the whole "- Female characters are all ugly as hell! There are women playing this game and you bet they dont like it" is completely bullshit, what does that even have to do with this patch? Unless it somehow bugged up your game so badly all the ladies in your game got replaced by pride demons, I don't see what the point of even saying that is.
That being said, I've seen a lot of people complain about things being even more laggy after applying the hotfix, so I'm going to just not update my game just yet. I've learned my lesson. You can fool me once with your luring patches, BioWare, but not twice. My game is working more or less fine now anyway, except for the party banter bug in a few zones, and a few minor quests being bugged, but I can live with that.

I'm in your same situation and I am waiting because I purchased through Origin and won't be able to reinstall without accepting the patches if something goes wrong. If you do decide to patch (because frankly they did some nice things in there!) I would recommend making a backup of your saved games and placing them in another directory if you don't routinely do that anyway.

After I did a clean reinstall of my graphic drivers and rebooted (after getting the patch and the hotfix,) my load times have dropped back to a reasonable length upon starting up the game. It runs much better too. My framerates are greatly improved overall and the game is smoother.
The only thing I'm running into is some minor screen tearing during cutscenes, and some minor stuttering (like a quick second hitch) as I'm walking around. That's probably on my end and not on BioWare's, since I've seen others with my setup have no stuttering issues. I probably need to tweak my user.cfg a bit as well as mess with some of the options in the CCC.

I had a minor stutter that I solved by putting my antivirus (avast) in game mode.
Ah I also disabled Origin in game ![]()

I've had Origin disabled in my games for awhile now. I do need to double check to make sure that DA:I is still on my exceptions list, but both of my AVs should be in game mode. Thanks for reminding me to check that. I know that Inquisition is on my exception lists.
Edit: Both are set to Game Mode already, but I really appreciate the suggestion. ![]()

Try to double check every program that can connect for a fraction of a second randomly just to grab a little bit of data. Believe it or not, the windows weather gadget caused me random "tenth of a second" stutters when I played Borderlands ![]()

A few of us are still having issues with patch 2 and the hot-fix making the game annoying to play.
Draw distance is really bad and black and see-through holes in the rocks/mountains which always flicker.

You can just backup your whole DA:I folder somewhere, download the patch, and if you don't like it, restore the old folder. Origin won't complain, you just have to "activate" the new installation, which takes like 10 seconds. I'll try that today.
It's too bad though that I can't have all ultra settings with high shaders anymore, that was like 8-9 fps difference for no noticeable tradeoff.

Only tested the current patch 2 w/ hotfix for about an hour now, but in terms of visuals and performance it seems pretty much as it was before for me, which is good. Certainly isn't worse than before which seems to be an issue for some.

Origin won't balk at that? That's cool to know, thanks. (I'm still waiting but the poster above may go for it.)

The only thing that I've found that could possibly be doing that is Skype. The rest of my processes go necessary things, like my drivers and such. Thanks for the heads up though, it was something else to check.
I don't have the weather gadget installed, and I don't run anything else while playing the game. Not even Chrome. I've only run something other than Skype once, and that was for some recording purposes. I'll keep digging. There is probably an option in the PC graphic tweak thread that I haven't tried yet.

Okay I take back what i said about stuttering. It was just me being an idiot. I cleared the Origin cache and then forgot to disable it in game once again. Everything works great now.

Chrome creates a task in Task Scheduler that runs every hour to check for updates. You could try disabling that. It doesn't tell you it's doing it, so it's easy to overlook.

I installed the patch and played for about an hour. Everything is fine so far. Loading times are same as before, no stuttering, no framerate issues. And the voice bug is fixed and I can move forward with my game finally.

I backed-up my folder just in case, but what do you mean by "activate"? I know I would have to move the folder back if the patch messed up the game, but I didn't get that activate part...
BTW, are you sure that will work? I'm just too afraid to update because my game runs just fine now (without the patch) and from everything people are saying I'm not sure I want to update until it's safe (or at least most people are happy about it)...
Thanks for the heads up!

I already did this when the first patch hit. Not exactly though, I used window's restore function to the reset the folder to the state of before the update. Worked, and I've been playing the unpatched game since. Maybe you only get the activation part if you are in offline mode.
Weirdly, after doing that, I've been hearing music in the field for the first time in 40 hours. And I still get it regularly.

Yeah I'm not quite sure where the "females are ugly" sentiment is coming from. There are plenty of cute female characters in the game -- Leliana, Josephine, Scout Harding, etc. I personally like Cassandra, but I can see why people would find her unattractive. It's a good deal better than females in past Dragon Age games, less pointy chins. If you're complaining that you can't make an attractive looking custom face, well, this face creator is pretty comprehensive. You just got to keep at it until you get it right; designing attractive female faces isn't exactly easy.
I am almost certain rafoquinha was talking about MP, as female characters there are quite em...lacking. SP has probably the most beautiful characters I have ever seen. The CC is simply awesome.

I just tried the game after the hotfix and now the game is stuttering a lot. It's like trying to play a massive MMO with a dial up connection. Even the Bioware logo in the beginning stutters. Main menu freezes every 3-4 secs for about 1-2 secs. I don't know what is going on in there... My game was just fine vanilla before all patches. Now crashed while trying to open the inventory screen...
