I just tried the game after the hotfix and now the game is stuttering a lot. It's like trying to play a massive MMO with a dial up connection. Even the Bioware logo in the beginning stutters. Main menu freezes every 3-4 secs for about 1-2 secs. I don't know what is going on in there... My game was just fine vanilla before all patches. Now crashed while trying to open the inventory screen...

People are being told to reboot after patching and it's clearing up a lot of this.  Worth a shot.

Tried it. Also tried the 3 steps that's been mentioned on the previous pages. Using Ccleaner and clean reboot. None of them work. I've just checked the EA AAHQ and saw some people has the same issue. I guess I will have to wait for another patch.

Two fixes I've read were to set mouse sensitivity to 75% or below, and disabling origin ingame.

Different strokes have worked for different folks.  Your best bet is AHQ.  But here's a not-comprehensive list:

  • reboot after patching
  • uninstall driver, run CCleaner, install latest drivers (14.12 for AMD, 344.80 for NVidia)
  • clear Origin cache
  • run Origin repair
  • Uninstall DirectX, reinstall DirectX
  • Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 update 4
  • Make sure all anti-viruses are in game mode
  • Make sure there are no background processes running (even the Windows weather gadget is causing stuttering on some boxes)
  • Make sure Origin overlay is disabled and Origin set to offline
  • Mouse sensitivity set to 75%
  • remove any command line arguments you had for workarounds

That's all I notepad'ed.  I'm sure there's more.

If you're on PC, try this thread.  It helped me a lot.

http://forum.bioware...the-pc-version/

Also, make sure your graphic drivers are up to date.  I had issues with the AMD 14.12 driver installing properly, so I had to uninstall the drivers and do a clean reinstall.  That actually took care of the majority of problems I had.  The workaround and then the hotfix took care of the rest.

Chrome creates a task in Task Scheduler that runs every hour to check for updates. You could try disabling that. It doesn't tell you it's doing it, so it's easy to overlook.

Nope, that wasn't it.  I figured it out.  Sure enough, I'm using the FPS unlock and I entered in the wrong refresh rate for the command line.  I double checked my monitor's exact refresh integer (the game will tell you) and adjusted my command line accordingly.  No more screen tearing and the only reason why any stuttering was left was due to vsync getting turned back on.  I wanted to make sure I was using the right number for the command line, so I put the settings back to default to make sure.  I forgot to disable vsync before I loaded up my save.

I've tested this in a cutscene and it looks a lot better.

Everything is on high or Ultra, except for Shadows (medium, first thing that gets turned down,) Water (same, second thing that always gets turned down,) and Tessellation at medium as well.  I don't use any MSAA or ambient lighting.

Hi Guys. I think there has been a huge bug in the models for the hissing wastes armor schismatics for the 360. No matter the Inquisitors class all three of the tier 3 schismatics come out as the rouge jacket. It seems that all of the "Superior" tier 2 have been switched around as well. I heavy armor models showing up in in the light and medium as well, please fix when you have time. And just as an idea, the Inquisitors helmet schismatics should be for sale at one point in the game instead of a random drop.

I'm surprised that this doesn't effect pretty much all of Bioware games since in my experience that it is only there as a "feature" with very limited functionality. As an example you can still turn mouse sensitivity all the way down in SWTOR and you still pan across the screen rather fast when you use the mouse to view in any direction. I guess maybe if we all had a dedicated gaming mouse it would make a difference, but I myself do not use one.

A few of us are still having issues with patch 2 and the hot-fix making the game annoying to play.

Draw distance is really bad and black and see-through holes in the rocks/mountains which always flicker.

Yeahh... Its weird watching rocks and grass growing 20 feet infront of you. I understand that people say the Inquisitor is holy, but I didn't know that my PC is that holy till life springs forth around me wherever I go xD

I'm still having the stuttering/low framerate issue I was having before the patch. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to deal with that?

the BioWare team is still learning Frostbite3, will take lots of time for them to figure all out. Its hell learning a new engine.

I just hope they will be able to make DAI a RPG before they are forced to stop support and jump on an other project.

Yeah I saw. I've tried several of them already. Unfortunately, I've had consistent problems with my graphics drivers, and am unable to properly uninstall/reinstall or update (thanks, HP). It's a general problem with my laptops card, and I haven't found a way to fix it. I think I'll try a clean reinstallation of the game and see if that helps. If not, it's finals week then vacation with the family anyways, then back home to the desktop I'm building, so all is not lost.

The OP is a really nice person and responds pretty quickly to any question, so long as you're polite.   :D

That's also where I learned to build my own user config file in this game.  Once that was built, that's how I managed to shut off both triple buffering (mixed bag depending upon the game) and that gods-awful Motion Blur.  Motion Blur looks terrible and yet, it's never accessible in games via the default menu.  You always have to go to the game's config.exe file or manually edit the user config settings to shut it off.

I have no idea why I get excited about settings, but I'd like to leave work right now to try some of those.

Is there a screen to see if the patch has downloaded on 360? Some games have an option to see all DLC or patches, but i do not see this option on home screen of game.

First - "children"? I see you here very clever. If you coward it's your problem. I'm not saying that you need to mindlessly delete all processes. But if the system is deep in **** and people have already started reinstall it because of the game and friezes, maybe it's worth to try not to **** in pants before every action.
The next time you write, offer something in return.
Although, really, what do I care. This method has helped me. So, believe it or not, I already do not care ..

LOL, if you read that out loud in a thick Russian accent, it is straight up cinematic. Like watching a Bond film where the Russian arms dealer is telling 007 where the killer went.

Can anybody confirm that before the hotfix it was possible to play with medium mesh quality but high/ultra shaders (forced with -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra).

The game was running very good for me before the hotfix! Please unbind mesh quality and shader quality or make it possible to force the shader to a different quality level like it was before the hotfix! I just don't want to play the game like this!

***Edit:

Closing the "Taskhost Process" helps a bit against the stuttering! But i think it was way better before the hotfix! :(

Yes, I can confirm it.

However, there are issues when shader and mesh quality do not match.   That's why they are making it so that they have to match.

Cripes. One more patch like this and we'll be sacrificing goats to improve frame rate.

Just curious, but why is the Visual Studio update in there?  I know the update just came out, and I ran the update through Windows Update Tuesday night.  Frustratingly, the installation hanged and I had to kill it in Task Manager after letting it sit for a couple hours.

Yowza!  That thread is comprehensive.  Everyone should check that thing.

Except that during most of that testing, shaders were forced to maximum.  Wouldn't that invalidate some of the conclusions drawn?  (At the very least, in regard to shader related settings).
