Well, the hotfix didn't do anything for me, the game keeps stuttering and freezing so I rolled back again.

My game is unplayable now
When I started Origin, it automatically patched. So I am SoL I believe.
Riddle me this, Batman: Before patch, my game ran well on medium-high settings on my Radeon HD 7800 series and my (terrible) Phenom 2 with minimal lag and fps issues. So why is it that since patching, my game stutters and momentarily freezes on LOW settings? How did Bioware mess this up this badly? At this point, they'd be better off pulling the patch to fix it instead of patching to repair their patch.
Yo dawg, I heard you like patches so here's a patch for your patch.
Try and see if windows has made an automatic backup of your DA:I folder. Rightclick - Properties - Previous versions. Then disable automatic updates in origin, and let windows restore the folder.

I chortled when Russian-bro didn't understand the phrase and called me a coward. My brain couldn't decide what accent to read that in until I saw the video. Now I can't unhear it.
Hotfix "worked" for me...in that it made things like they were before the patch. And the patch didn't fix any of my particular problems. Reading through the patch notes, I'm sure there are tons of little things fixed that just don't stand out as much as our immediate problems. I did have the hanging indefinitely in conversation issue once. I'll take their word that they fixed it.
Also; who the hell has said anything about female PCs being ugly? I can only imagine this person is dissatisfied with realistic breast sizes and the lack of facial reconstructive surgery. You can mod collagen into your PC's lips if you want, but I've made numerous female characters and love how they turned out. And yes, I'm female.

If you're using the Gaming Evolved App, disable it, or uncheck the 'track Gameplay' in it's DA:I profile. For some reason it causes quite a huge performance hit and heavy stuttering while active...

guys, don't want to jump the gun here, but I think I might have found the solution to the freezing and stuttering problem. It seems to work for me at least. I've been running around Skyhold for several minutes today and experienced no freezing at all, which is unbelievable and has never happened before (in the post-patch era, I mean). So, it appears there was too little free space on my hard drive, the free-space-o-meter was red, just 5GB free. I uinstalled just one piece of software from Origin - EA's Fifa 14, mind you - to make some room. And it seems to have done the trick. Will keep you notified on how it goes outside Skyhold and for a more extended period of time. I'm pretty sure the stuttering is going to come back with a vengence though.

The Hotfix rolled back the graphics issues, but I still have the DX CTD problems. They seem to be occurring with their old regularity though instead of the newer patched rate.

The only problem I have is my companions aren't talking now,no banter. Before I downloaded the hot fix they were chattering away now they are silent...not liking this. ![]()
EDIT: I just roamed all over Western Approach without any Banter....

Different strokes have worked for different folks. Your best bet is AHQ. But here's a not-comprehensive list:
- reboot after patching
- uninstall driver, run CCleaner, install latest drivers (14.12 for AMD, 344.80 for NVidia)
- clear Origin cache
- run Origin repair
- Uninstall DirectX, reinstall DirectX
- Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 update 4
- Make sure all anti-viruses are in game mode
- Make sure there are no background processes running (even the Windows weather gadget is causing stuttering on some boxes)
- Make sure Origin overlay is disabled and Origin set to offline
- Mouse sensitivity set to 75%
- remove any command line arguments you had for workarounds
That's all I notepad'ed. I'm sure there's more.
Reboot done...no change
I can't install 14.12. i don't know why they don't work even if installed
Cache deleted...no change
Directx reinstalled....no change
Origin Overlay already disabled
Mouse sensitivity already under 75%
i don't have any antivirus

You can't install 14.12 due to errors?
14.12 made some changes that will impact your performance if you're running AMD. I only have a 7770, and the game is running much better for me. Before I could not use Mantle at all, now I'm running it with middling-to-high settings with a good slice of CPU usage taken off in comparison to DirectX. Load times are longer, but performance is great.

I've noticed a longer load time while firing up the game and loading a save. It seems to drop more back to normal times in between zones though. I can say that loading a save in Skyhold/going back to Skyhold does take longer than anywhere else, but I'm not terribly surprised. Val R. is the same way if I load a save there too.

Well after the patch and the hotfix I have a Device hung error during the first cut scence with Leliana and Cassandra. After 30 min making my character Y_Y. Why!!!???
BTW can we please move, disappear or kill some npcs on towns? 24-26 fps on towns is just horrible they only eat my CPU power ![]()

People having issues installing the new AMD drivers should read this:
http://www.tomshardw...-installed.html
The errors are because of an issue with Microsoft's critical updates for windows 7 , the linked thread tells you how to correct this.

I tooled around Haven and then Crossroads and part of the Hinterlands last night to see what was what, and then exited in Crossroads and restarted the game. Initial load time on Continue for that save was somewhere close to 2 minutes (which is still crazy, but... now I can read the whole text on the cards?). I'm going to try Redcliffe tonight just for kicks.

What gpu do you have?
And yes, you did read right. But I didn't mean that consoles look better. Simply that because the hardware optimization is locked there's actually a visual enhancement playing on ultra hd as opposed to full hd. So what I'm saying is 4k tv's don't impede your experience on consoles by any means. Now I suppose the same could be said for pc. That I could just keep my settings at 1920x1080 instead of the native 3840x2160. But when I have the option to go higher. I'd feel like I have to, and I don't know what gpu could hit 60fps on a 55-60" uhd tv at max game graphics settings and native resolution. Probably none.
- I'm running a pair of 290x in crossfire. I can play a game at 800 x 600 resolution to 3820 x 2160 resolution and everywhere inbetween. Just gotta hit the button in the settings.
- Screen size means nothing. If you are getting 30 FPS on a 21" 4k screen, you will get 30 FPS on a 90" 4k screen.
- A console game is resolution locked, so the image will look the exact same as it would on a 4k TV as a 1080p TV.
- On PC you set it to whatever resolution you want on a 4k TV up to 3820 x 2160. You can play a game at 1080p with PC on a 4k TV just as easily as on an Xbox.
TL;DR if you have a PC that gives you better performance than the systems now, hooking it up to a better TV or Monitor will only make that difference more visible and evident. Going to a higher resolution TV will never net you better image quality than a basic 1080p TV, but on a PC it can, provided you have the hardware to do it.

Well, a bit of a step backward for me with the patch + hotfix.
I had pretty frequent crashes (DirectX + CTD + freezes during cutscenes/war room). A week or so back I went to borderless window (vs full screen), turned off AO, etc. All of my problems went away. This morning, I played fine for 30 minutes out in Exalted Plains but froze immediately when trying to unlock an operation in the war room.
Off to India for a week. Hopefully Patch 3 is out before I get back. ![]()
Good luck all.
