After the patch on ps4 i have noticed in MP when buying chests it will show blue or purple items and then quickly switch.. not sure if this is part of the randomization or not

My character and Cassandra now have stains on their faces.

Did you make sure the stains are not issues with the blood spatters that happen after battle? I noticed that some times the bloodstains from battle will turn out kind of odd looking on the face during cut-scenes and not look like the normal bloodspatters but appear to be blemishes or graphics problems.

One way to check on whether or not its a bug in the bloodspatter system: If you zone into a rest area like a camp and "rest" it should remove the bloodstains stains from clothing and the ones that get on the skin.

Note: I have gore/graphic blood enabled.

Also with the patch hotfix, users who had their settings below High prior to patch, will notice changes in skin such as loss of freckles or scars and possible age changes. I am putting this in my own words so please read the patch notes for hotfix.

Some people are reporting that a task "taskhost.exe" is the one that is causing all the freezes and sttutering and if you close it the game will run fine, also they said the game will periodically start the process again so the freezes will come back, you will have to stop the process again.

Thats what i have read.

Yeah I installed the newest graphic driver instead of the beta driver, rebooted, fiddled with settings...it still runs like utter crap. Stuttery, lags and hangs every second or two and is utterly unplayable. Nice of them to utterly break my game after the refund period. I can't even run it on LOW. I am so bummed out.

latest patch didn't address any of my concerns. Tactical camera is as bad as it was. Doesn't zoom out far enough, it's stuck to the world mesh so it gets stuck and collides with everything, and there is no freaking proper tilt control for the tactical camera at all.

-Rampage still bugged on reaver.
-Tactical camera is still terrible to use on PC in single player. (doesn't zoom out far enough and no proper tilt control)
-Game still crashes randomly when in multiplayer mode.
-Doors still bug-out and cannot be opened due to enemy glitching in multiplayer.
-Connection issues in multiplayer still present.
-Already people cheating again in multiplayer
-Gold pots/vases still bugged in mutliplayer.
-Sometimes you can't hear a party member talking in multiplayer until they rejoin, they can't hear you either.
-Still only 3 mp maps?
-Only purple armor for katari and necro?
-Only two different armor visuals in multiplayer?
-No male/female options for characters in mp.

Latest patches "fixes" were bull. Didn't really fix anything in my opinion. No abilities that needed to be fixed got fixed, the game is still unstable and all the multiplayer bugs that were there before the patch are still there. I honestly have no idea what this patch did other than mess the game up even more with the graphics problems on PC.

This really isn't the same company that it used to be. Gone downhill is a understatement. Game of the year, my ass. Then again there's been nothing but absolute crap this year anyway so not really an achievement.

If you can't figure out what the patch does, you could try reading the patch notes. Just a thought. Some of those things were real issues for some of us; the PC voice change in particular was a game killer for many players.

Task Manager's not the problem. The problem is some other process getting launched from a .dll. Presumably not one of Bio's or the game would fail, unless it's the DRM. I'm betting it's Microsoft's RAC; we've seen that before. It's still Bio's problem to solve since they're setting it off.

taskhost.exe is perhaps THE single most innocuous process you don't need running on Windows.  Sure, you don't need it running, but if it's causing problems with Inquisition, that is completely 100% Bioware's fault.  The thing runs all the damn time and even turns itself back on after a while if you end the process manually.  I can't even think of any other game or program it has ever effected.

If that's really what the problem is, the problem lies with the programmers, not Windows.  By which I mean it is absolutely not the fault of Windows in any way.  It is not only Bioware's problem to solve, it is a problem they created.

Is it just me, or are the load times like twice as long now?

Yeah, quite a lot longer as well!

The "hotfix" patch on top of patch 2 did not work. Same issue as with patch 2. After a few hours of play, suddenly the game freezes every five seconds. Your work around worked fine, but the new update on top of patch 2 has not fixed the issue at all.

Hey guys, I  found the issue for constant stuttering, at least on my computer. The constant stuttering happens no matter the graphics quality, and it gets worse every 10 seconds or so, even in menu screen.

If you have Intel Rapid Storage installed and you aren't making use of the technology, uninstall it. You can tell if you have it by an icon on your taskbar, or go to "Programs and Settings".

My computer specs:

GTX 970.

i5-2500k

windows 7 64 bit

SSD everything.

How I figured it out was to run task manager, go to "Perfomance" tab, then clicked on "Resource" Monitor, go to the CPU tab, then sort by CPU. The process responsible for the rapid storage (which i never bothered to uninstall, because of sheer laziness, in the past few years since I've built my rig), was taking up over 50%.

Many of you with custom built rigs probably installed the device drivers that came with your motherboard which also include intel rapid storage (and we are also the loudest complainers)-- there must be some kind of interaction introduced. I can imagine QA at bioware using standard dells/alienware/whatever-- those probably don't have drivers like that.

For those of you having stuttering problems, it would probably help bioware if you were to list your computer specs and while the computer is stuttering, for you to control-alt-delete and then go the resource monitor, CPU tab, and see which proceses are taking up tons of resources.

Here's all the things I did try (much from the hundreds of posts in this thread), which did not work. I also did a lot of stuff that I'm used to doing when diagnosing problems on various rigs over the years.

  • Use the command line shader argument suggested by Bioware
  • Reinstall Inquisition
  • Reinstall Origin
  • Repairing Inquisition
  • Deleting Program Files/Origin and then repairing
  • Enable and Disable Beta participation
  • Disable logitech mouse program (thought maybe there was an interaction with the automated mouse profiles)
  • Disable MacDrive
  • Disable Malware protection from microsoft
  • Set all graphics to low.
  • Disable taskhost.exe
  • Disable itunes, spotify, chrome processes
  • Force specific graphic settings using Nvidia control panel
  • Running windows 7 without aero and stuff like that
  • RUnning inquisition in administrative mode
  • Disabling iCloud
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling nvidia drivers
  • Using Windows Update to download all the latest drivers
  • "Rolling back" on windows 7 drivers
  • Disabling indexing on HD
  • Fiddling with various bios settings.
  • Messing around with paging file size and location
  • Reverting back registry keyboard settings that I used for my mac compatible keyboard to switch the control and command keys

I was running this game perfectly fine before the patch, now I can't even get into it.

Soon as the game gets to the EA/Bioware logo screen, the game starts stuttering.  Music and graphics.

When I get to the main menu, even before I "Click to continue" (what the **** is the purpose of that anyway?), it starts stuttering so bad that it'll completely lock up the guys moving on the main screen as well as the music for 3-4 seconds at a time.  On the rare chance that it actually connects to the servers, once I get in game, the stuttering gets so bad that it eventually locks up completely and I have to alt+F4 out of the game.'

I don't even know if I have the shiny hair problem, or any of the other problems reported here, because I can't even play the damned game.  Most of the time it just sits on the "Connecting to server..." thing forever while the game stutters and freezes.

I'm sorry, this is ****** ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

You sir may just be onto something! I had constant stutter and lag since patching yesterday. I just now tried disabling taskhost.exe and any process associated with intel storage and now I am 100% stutter free and load times seem a bit shorter. The problems are definitely tied to some processes going on. I suggest to others to do some trouble shooting with these suggestions and see if it works for you.

I have this, but what is it for anyway? I'm not sure if I should uninstall it, google has told me it somehow improves performance.

I uninstalled the Intel Rapid Storage thing, it didn't help me at all.  The only thing taking up ANY CPU at the moment is Xboxstat.exe, which is for the controller (though I'm not using it for this particular game).

Hey, just to say that with the workaround the patch work great, don't really have issues (just to nitpick tho : DoF seem less strong and shadows not as good as before ? but thats really nitpicking).

Actually its quite the opposite : with everything on ultra, anti aliasing at medium and the other AA option off, the game is constantly between 30 - 60 fps on a gtx 670 + no more stutter so, gratz Bioware :)

Well as counterpoint to this sort of tripe ... (and not to ****** any folks off that have real issues and are trying to fix them ... the PC version runs just epic for me. GTX 980 SLI ... all Ultra settings at 2560x1440 with FPS in a rage of 60 to 120+ depending on the area (Skyhold is a FPS hog for some reason) ... and it looks feckin amazing:

  • no texture flicker (after setting vegetation to "high")
  • no stuttering
  • the tactical view isn't as good as Origins but there's already mods to address this and it will only get better ... and besides, the controls are fine and I've totally learned to use the limited view ...
  • I think the PC controls in general, with mouse and keyboard are insanely effective and I zip around like a freak; I can't imagine playing with a "controller" ...
  • Party banter is quite frequent for me (I've heard others have issues with this); and I can't attribute it to anything but my changing who my main playable character is quite frequently; I also "sleep" a lot at camps but I think it's mostly because I switch and play other NPC's as my main character on a regular basis; I get banter every 5 to 10 minutes
  • And did I mention that it looks freakin amazing? Sound is really excellent too and by far some of the best voice acting and scripting/writing in (recent?) game history

But in general, Haters ... yeah, I think it's a pretty epic effort and definitely the best game of my past few years.

BTW, my rig:

2700K @ 5ghz

x2 GTX 980 SLI

RAID 0 x2 Velociraptor Mechanicals

16 gig RAM

Asus P67 Sabertooth Motherboard

Windows 7 64bit

  • All Origin in game notifications turned off
  • Origin in game in general turned off
  • Using the Nvidia Inspector profile for DA:I with SLI bits set to "0x0C4330F5"
  • Yes, Intel Storage Manager is installed and active
  • Settings at Ultra with Vegetation set to "High" (vegetation set to Ultra gives me texture flicker but 99% gone when Vegetation set to High)
  • 1440p monitor

Haven't really done anything else .. my main issues at install were textures flicker but like I said, changing vegetation to High completely (or almost) gets rid of that.

freaking amazing? The game looks even worse on your RIG than on a single GPU configuration due to SLI errors in the game (flickering textures/white fog) stop praising your $1800 computer balls.

game still works fine for me. but still can't walk on pc. :(

ive never had any real issue with the tactical thing either. i use a trackball mouse. i never liked any other kind for games. it moves the screen around fine. i guess it COULD stand to zoom out a tad more but i use it so infrequently, i barely notice.

Has anyone else had the problem that since patch 2 the remains of slain enemies sometimes remain suspended in the air where one can't reach them to loot them? Happened to me three times since yesterday whereas it didn't happen at all before the patch.

Ever since patch 2 I crash when entering skyhold on pc. It used to let me run around for about 30 seconds but now it crashes on loading into the area. Everything worked fine until the patch :( That's the only zone that I've found it crashes in too.

Edit : I forgot to say, there is no error either. Just sends me back to the desktop.
