I was running this game perfectly fine before the patch, now I can't even get into it.

Soon as the game gets to the EA/Bioware logo screen, the game starts stuttering.  Music and graphics.

When I get to the main menu, even before I "Click to continue" (what the **** is the purpose of that anyway?), it starts stuttering so bad that it'll completely lock up the guys moving on the main screen as well as the music for 3-4 seconds at a time.  On the rare chance that it actually connects to the servers, once I get in game, the stuttering gets so bad that it eventually locks up completely and I have to alt+F4 out of the game.'

I don't even know if I have the shiny hair problem, or any of the other problems reported here, because I can't even play the damned game.  Most of the time it just sits on the "Connecting to server..." thing forever while the game stutters and freezes.

I'm sorry, this is ****** ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

i could play before patch and not now

my game freezes after i ply for 10 min...i have to kill the process

I have been experiencing game breaking stuttering since installing the patch. Before that, the game ran well with an occasional stall here and there. Now it's a constant stutter. Is there an ETA on the fix for this because I can't even play!?

I stopped playing after the patch hit and waited until the hotfix came out after reading about the screw up.

in my 80+ hours of playtime I locked the game on 30fps because the constantly varying framerate bothered me. Up until the patch and the hotfix I could maintain those locked 30fps easily with everything on ultra/max with 2xMSAA with the occasional complete halt at specific points (haven tents where Leliana used to hang out for example).

Now however I get drops to the lower 20 fps every now and then for no reason. It happens while turning the camera sometimes and even in cutscenes when there is nothing going on while everything is completely fine in a big fight. It boggles my mind. While I appreciate fixes and all that jazz for things I barely noticed in my playthrough up until now (except for the blip on the minimap while searching which is awesome) a patch should either maintain or enhance the performance of the game not deteriorate it.With no option to roll back I am now stuck with this frankly god awful performance and I can't stand it one bit and lost all desire to finish this game now.

Bioware plz... whatever changes You made which could have an impact on the performance even without me changeing any settings at all, undo them.

How do you lock the game at 30 fps?

Just wanted to say that my game is running perfectly, even after installing the hotfix. Before the hotfix, the workaround took care of the graphics issues for me. System specs:

Intel i7 4820k @ 3.70Ghz

16gb RAM

GTX 780 ti Superclocked w/ ACX Cooler (driver 344.75)

Windows 8.1

No crashes, audio glitches, texture flickering, etc. All settings are at max.

SOLUTION FOR THE STUTTERING

First of all disabling Intel Rapid Storage Technology may work. Go to your task manager and finish the "IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe"  process! If it doesn't work try this steps:

Do all of these steps listed below in that order. When finished with each step re launch origin and accept the user agreement and when it has verified your games right click inquisition and check for updates. After that has finished right click again to repair your game. The repair will make sure origin recognizes the updates. It will take a few minutes to do everything but it got rid of my issues.

Run ccleaner on PC:

http://help.ea.com/e...-fix-pc-issues/

Clear origin cache:
http://help.ea.com/e...emporary-files/

Perform a clean boot:
http://help.ea.com/e...n-boot-your-pc/

obs: it works for me and a lot of people, may not work for you!

Now that the Hotfix is out, the metallic hair is permanently gone.

Can anyone tell me if the old workaround of "-ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra" actually does anything now?

You need to take that off now.

Is funny how people buy games near to release date (or pre-order them) knowing how the indistries goes since some various years ago.

Games with lot of problems and bugs (saddly titles AAA are the worst) ... but people still buying and sure CRYING!

I hope some day someone learn this and buy the game atleast 6 months later the release date.

I did, but I didn't notice any difference from before or after doing so. So what is the difference that it makes now that we have the hotfix?

I think I've tried that the other day. Perhaps something's missing then. Thanks, I'll try it later.

Also after clearing Origin cache don't forget to disable Origin overlay once again, since all the settings will be reset to default(naturally).

Alright, second evening without crashes after the patch.

I even tried to enable AO (it helped to prevent crashes before), however, the game became very laggy, so I disabled it. It wasn't like that before the patch with the same other settings.

Strange, my game was running like a one legged centipede before this patch and hotfix, but now it's running silky smooth and looks gorgeous.  I am a little mind blown as to how?

Glad the fix is out, I was starting to fear it was going to be less a hotfix and more a lukewarmfix.

Yeah, the game does work better now. But not with AO enabled.

I can live without it though.

Tried this and it worked for about 10 mins with no issue. Then it began again, the stuttering every 3-5 seconds and FPS dropping down between 1-7. Rebooted and same problem.

Looked at task manager, and DragonAgeInquisition.exe was using up 90% of my CPU

System:

Intel i5 3450 @ 3.10Ghz

8gb RAM

GT 640

Windows 7

Everything ran fine BEFORE these patches. Was able to run the game for hours at a time with steady frames. I will have to wait until this is fixed with yet another patch. I've tried everything aside from reinstalling Windows, which I'm not too interested in doing.

This is a video of the problems that i was having, the hotfix introduce something to the game that dont like the gaming evolved app, i disable the app and all the problems in the video gone away.

https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be

The final culprit was not the patch itself, but the AMD gaming evolved app (raptor) but the patch introduce something that make it fail whit this app running. I dont care for that app so maybe i will gone be uninstalling it.

Ultra default Settings

Core i5 3.2 Ghz
HD 7950 OC
16 Gb Ram

Glitches:

1.-Black Bars on main menu animation 00:17
2.-Micro Frezzes:
1:08
2:04
2:40
2:55
3:16
3:33
3:53

Again, all of this was fixed uninstallin AMD gaming advance app.

See if the IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe process is on again, if it's, finish it. You can permanently close it in msconfig. For me it's still working!

I am very grateful for the patch and hotfix, not that I had many issues before them or anything. Though the issue I have is when I go to redcliffe village the game turns into a slow motion event..direct x and doesn't matter what graphical settings I use. I can use mantle and it makes it "playable" but the trade off is for me mantle makes the entire game stutter and one village is not worth stutter everywhere else in my opinion so for now I just avoid redcliffe.. I'm not trying to complain, only saying this should be checked. :)

So from what I read in Original post, beyond Patch 2 we may get a RPG, not a MMO. If they add features I might consider getting the game

Hasn't played the game.

Is already judging if it's not an RPG.

taskhost.exe is perhaps THE single most innocuous process you don't need running on Windows.  Sure, you don't need it running, but if it's causing problems with Inquisition, that is completely 100% Bioware's fault.  The thing runs all the damn time and even turns itself back on after a while if you end the process manually.  I can't even think of any other game or program it has ever effected.

If that's really what the problem is, the problem lies with the programmers, not Windows.  By which I mean it is absolutely not the fault of Windows in any way.  It is not only Bioware's problem to solve, it is a problem they created.

Oh, sure. I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't Bio's problem to solve. But taskhost.exe has been known to cause problems in the past with excessive CPU usage. Though I had thought that Microsoft got this under control years ago.

Youare right ZipZap2000, I didnt play the game. Being well informed makes up for that.

There is enough videos online to know how the game is played, to know the content , what is the core system and so on.

I was having high hopes the the DAI title, it was possible that DAI could redeem BioWare plus EA in my eyes but did not.

Good thing I was cautious, no buyers remorse and saved 70 bucks.
