True, however, the more people that are not having issues post their configs the more we all know about what seems to work.  Sooner or later a pattern is bound to emerge.

Exactly.  This needs to be encouraged more.  But nobody is here to do it!

The problem is that so many people are having similar issues, but not all are having the exact same issues.  This is usually how it works, but unless somebody is monitoring these posts actively, and getting and giving feedback as they come in, there's not going to be any progress.  How hard is it to have somebody at Bioware, who is somewhat technically savvy (doesn't need to know the DAI code like a book), continually manage and monitor these things *in this thread*, so that people posting their gameplay experiences have a reference to report to?

I know those kinds of people work at Bioware.

Stop trying to re create Origins ...

The new take is actually pretty fun ..

(on my second play through; super fun)

....

:D

Bro, don't worry about me.

I got plenty of things to take up my time, and if I want to try 'the new take', I will.  But I'm in no rush.

Especially when Bioware told me to expect a 2nd "range of fixes", not to mention "further improvements to the PC mouse/keyboard controls and PC usability and functionality to address specific requests from the community."

What I'm more concerned about now is how out-of-control Bioware will allow this post-hotfix situation to get.  The reason people are looking for more updates is because that's exactly what happened after the first patch came out.  There were immediate interactions here.  A workaround and then a hotfix release, and now....  nothing.  It's hard for me to decide to "jump in" with all this going on.

No major issues here either.

i5 3470 @ 3.2ghz

8 gig ram

Radeon 270x ( Omega drivers )

Win 7 / 64 bit

Though I will note when I tried the game with a Radeon 6870 it stuttered / lurched at the beginning of every zone like it was still loading ( even though I run off dual SSDs ). But would run perfectly smooth after that initial rash of hiccups upon first entering a zone.

When you installed the drivers for that AMD card, did you make sure not to install the 'gaming evolved' part of the driver?  Or was there no option during install (like Nvidia's 'custom install' procedure)?

Out of curiosity, are you playing Default World State or custom through Keep?

My internet is bad, live in the country and only option for me is satellite which is slow at the best of times.  When I start the game, the main menu screen often skips animations for a minute or two which I am attributing to the game trying to connect to the DAI servers, always fails.  After that, everything seems smooth.  I do not know what effect playing with a custom world state has on the game or its need to stay connected to the servers (if at all), however, if the game does need a persistent connection to the servers in this situation, it may account for (at least partially) for the skipping issues if the DAI servers are having issues.

I think its worth it for anybody that is having issues to at least try Default World State unless that is already how they play.  Likely wont help crashes though.

I think the "stuttering" issue that is being reported everywhere obviously has something to do with this.

Since the second patch i've noticed a huge increase in "freezes" during my cinematic conversations. I can't skip them, and it doesn't matter how long i wait, i always have to close the game through task manager. I've tried the 60 fps fix, updating my drivers, windowed mode, and reinstalling the game, but nothing works. This happens in about 1 in 3 conversations and is really destroying the game for me right now. It's hard to get immersed into the story when all you do is worrying over when the next freeze is going to appear... This has taken all the enjoyment out of the game for me, really hope they find a fix for this as soon as possible.

Using;

i5 4670K 3,4GHz

16 gig ram

GeForce GTX 770

Win 8.1

Thank goodness, I can happily report that you can check off having the gaming evolved crap installed with AMD.  You don't have to have it at all in order to update drivers.

It probably is for some users, but my latency is fine and still get some stuttering.  Tested this last night.  ;)

This is good.  So now, if this program is actually causing problems (no proof it is just yet), how many AMD GPU users have it installed and don't realize it.

I also want to stress again that this could be a crappy driver install that's making this issue worse.  My stuttering and framerate issues were getting terrible prior to doing a clean uninstall/reinstall of my drivers, and that was before Patch 2.

This is the steps I used:

http://forum.bioware...2#entry18075029

This is the version of Guru3D I used for the clean uninstall.  Both AMD and Nvidia's official sites recommend this program and it's free:

 http://www.guru3d.co...download,1.html

I'm not going to pretend or promise that this will fix everything.  However, I encourage every PC user having trouble to at least give it a shot.  The link I put up is legitimate; as I said in the other thread, I overall have too much respect for the folks on the BSN to put up some sketchy link to unsafe software.

The game is great, but it's not "fun", not in this sorry state, on PC anyway, dirty console peasants are used to dumbed down games so it might be fun for them.

Game runs fine above 60fps @ 1080p at almost all times only dipping slightly. Was getting exactly the same before the patch.

All graphics settings manually set to max with MSAA off with borderless window.

Ok, I've had about 10 hours of game time across three evenings since Thursday night. No freezes, stuttering, crashes, graphical weirdness of any sort. One thing I have noticed is every now and then Varric (and only him) will "teleport" to my Inquisitors side. No reliability to this occurring. Maybe 6 occurrences in ten hours. Game looks great, settings as follows;

1920x1080
Texture mesh fade touched
All others high/ultra
MSAA is off (note- I never tried playing with this on at all, given reports of it being a frame rate hog and providing little to no benefit graphically).

System specs
AMD FX4100 QC3.5GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1866MHz
GTX980 super clock w/344.75
Samsung evo840 240gb SSD (only DAI on this drive)
Windows 7 pro 64 bit
All game/origin/windows updates installed

I've been monitoring this thread and would like to add to the list of configurations that do work with patch 2 and its hot fix.  Thanks to this forum, I never installed patch 2 when it first came out.  I waited until the hot fix for the patch was released and then updated my Nividia driver to its 344.80 hot fix and then installed the patch.

i-5 3570k @ 4.3 GHz (overclocked)

8 GB 1600 RAM

GTX 680 4GB.  I am running EVGA PrecisionX for a fan profile.

Nvidia 344.80 driver

Win7-64

OS and game installed on separate SSD's.

I have the virus scanner disabled when I play.

All "unnecessary" services and processes are disabled.  I have Steam and U-play clients on this system too but I always made sure only Origin/DAI is the only one running.

Origin overlay while playing is set to off.

I'm not connected to the Dragon Age server for multiplayer or Dragon Age Keep.

Game's graphic setting is set to High.

I tried Ultra but it lag when I first come into a place with lots of NPC's spawning.  High settings turned out to be the best setting for me in term of visuals and game responsiveness.

I had a session that lasted 7 hours without a crash.  There are some stutters when I first traveled into a new area but it goes away after a few seconds.  My party starts their banter whenever we arrive at a new destination.  There was nothing during that 7 hours session that distracted me from the game.

Reporting that the patch has broken the game for me as well. It ran quite well beforehand on high-ultra settings, but now I can't prevent crashes no matter which settings or workarounds I try. The crashes happen only in cutscenes, and result in my monitors going pure white or solid colors with the audio freezing and looping in the background. The system never recovers from this, and I have to do a hard restart in order to get running again. It would seem to be a complete driver crash.

I'm on a brand new rig using an i7-4790k (no overclocking), GTX 660 Ti (also no overclocking), and Windows 8.1. My driver is 344.75, the latest stable release for my card.

So far I've tried:

Repairing the game install

Disabling Origin-in game and playing in offline mode

Clearing the Origin cache

Rolling back to the previous stable driver (clean install)

Changing any number of in-game settings

Applying/not applying the 60fps cutscene tweak to the command line (having it applied helped somewhat, but only bought me 10 minutes of playtime instead of 2)

Unplugging my second monitor and running from just my main

Several other minor suggestions such as disabling antivirus, etc.

So far nothing has worked. The technical support forum (redirects to EA Answers from here) is flooded with users experiencing this and many other performance issues. Have we heard anything from Bioware/EA on the issue? Thanks for your input!

OMG that last part cracked me up, I have had EA Answer staff and live chat staff direct me to these forums for technical assistance while the Bioware staff here directs people to EA Answer HQ Beta crap site. So far spent more time on forums and support trying to get my game to work smoothly than actually being able to play it, money well invested *sarcasm here*

I never install Raptr. I don't even know why Raptr exists. It's the appendix of software.

As an addendum, I have the Origin overlay turned off ( So I can use the Steam overlay. >.> )

No issues since patch, had cutscene crash pre patch but not since.

CPU: i7 4790 (8 core 4.0 gHz)

RAM: 16 GB

GPU Nvidia Titian

Origin on SSD drive c, game on IDE drive D

Play both on and offline - satellite internet and metered bandwidth so just depends. Origin is disabled in game. I am not shutting down any background processes to run the game. Setting Ultra/maxed out across the board.

I have that "crap" installed and no problems what so ever running DAI.  Before the patch I did not have much party banter and no music.  After the patch I now do.

Graphically never had problems running DAI.

OK.

I wonder how many people have it installed by default.

are there any specific settings you adjust in the program that a default installation might have a different way?

There's a ton of bugs still in multiplayer. I'm tired of joining games and being unable to move my character. Still a ton of ability bugs. Still only 3 boring maps with the same game mode of "clear the level."

Tactical cam is as bad as it was before the patch. Unusable on pc without getting a headache.

Tired of the game crashing to desktop randomly.

This game feels very rushed even after the 2nd patch. It could use another 3 months in development if you ask me.... Definitely a rushed beta for holiday sales, with designs intended for targeting console users specifically. Last bioware game I buy. Period.
