You don't? Did you play Origins or DA2 on PC?

Yes.

My 360 controller has stopped working since the latest patch. Working fine with every other games. Game detects my controller but nothing happens when I press start or anything.

1 - Unplugged all other USB

2 - Disabled all others HID or controllers in Device Manager

3 - Controller working fine on all other games.

Coudn't bare the game control with kb+m so unfortunately I would have to wait until it's fixed. Sigh.

I have a very similar problem.Frequently it wont recognize the controller. With the controller on I go to printer and devices, right click on the XBOX wireless controller, game controller settings, properties and fool around with a few buttons. Then I enter the game normally. It almost always recognizes the controller. If not then I check the game settings in the menu.Sometimes it isn't set to game-pad.I don't know why this happens sometimes.Otherwise I have to restart the damn PC.

Yes.

So you feel that the PC control schemes from those 2 games, with all the benefits and conveniences they provided, wouldn't have been preferable to what Bioware decided to implement in Inquisition?

Well there are some parts that I like about DAI's controls, in theory.  A free-moving camera rather than one that locks into a set angle and height overhead sounds good...as long as you can consistently go up as high as you could in DAO.  Which you currently can't in DAI.

But for the most part, no, I prefer the control scheme of DAO to the one in DAI.

So, yes, you would prefer a control scheme more like that in DAO...  which is basically what everyone's been discussing since release....  and looks like what Bioware is *potentially* promising to maybe give us in future patches here ...

.... and yet, you think this "has no place in a discussion about patching the game" ?

Help me out, here.

And let's not ignore the fact that the patch and hotfix implemented thus far haven't exactly fixed things. They've swapped out some issues for others.

I was originally responding to Dubya75's sentiment that he'll never buy another BioWare game after DAI.  I thought that nothing that could or will be patched is worth that level of disappointment.  I suppose there could be more fundamental aspects of the game that subjectively merit that reaction, but nothing that would be the sort of thing addressed in a patch.  Like making it "more of an RPG" or whatnot.

Well, More RPG would be good BUT not in DAI. Perhaps a comanion game DA Sims or something along those lines where you import your DAI toons and offline companions complete with romance and all, skyhold of course but, give us more ways to repair and improve it, search missions and quests but no combat, it's about traveling together and role playing out of combat. (as in each party member gets a visible horse so we can ride and talk while we fell trees for wood, gather river stones for building, dig up clay for use in mortar, etc... Maybe that would suit the RPG crowd that wants that, and not make DAI unbearable for those that don't.

Too tired to string together a diatribe of silence not being the answer this time... Ahh but hell, last time I did there was a post for patch 2 within a day. So here's the platitudinous plug... The silence is deafening. *awaits next twitter comment* All of you are also welcome if there's a result ;)

Hi!

I managed to solve my stuttering with windows task manager. I just wathced my notebooks processor performance with and without DA:I running in windowed mode, I discovered something must be wrong because cpu usage without any program running was 25% and with DA:I the usage was

97 -100%. I clicked on the processes tab, ... I saw nothing unusual, but then I discovered an option in the lower left corner (show all users processes) and then I was surprised. Windows Media Player online sharing ran in the background eating up almost 25% processing power and something like 2GB of ram. I disabled the process structure immediately (when DA:I run in the background!!!) and then DA:I started to run perfectly smooth and cpu usage went back to 75 - 80% and stayed that way until I played the game. (I hope it will stay that way. I dont have time now to test it properly with Windows restarts, etc.. 16x16_smiley-frustrated.png  )

Anyway here is the hastebin link to my notebook's (64 bit) dxdiag just in case if you or the Devs are interested:

http://hastebin.com/obixodezoz.tex

I hope it helps to some of you. 16x16_smiley-wink.png

PS: Sorry for my english, I'm from Hungary and its 3:44AM now and I'm sleepy.

Hi!

I tested it a little bit more than yesterday with multiple windows restarts and thank the Maker it solved my problem with stuttering. :D

I also found  out how to disable Windows media player network sharing permanently from a post on DA:I AHQ:

"I also found a way to disable it since it runs on startup.

Im using win 7, go to start menu and search for SERVICES.MSC and Run it

Scroll down and find Windows media player network sharing and double click it

click the dropdown menu by startup type and select disable

Restart Computer. "

I hope it helps and I hope Bioware will fix the stuttering to the rest of you soon.  ;)

Okay, no one said anything for 4 pages for a handful of pages. Here it is again.

X-One updated the other day, and the only thing I've noticed so far is that when you ping items in the environment, they flash on your minimap (thank you Bioware).
Was curious if could either update us X-One users on the rest of the Patches, or if nothing else, message me the changes. :P

I'm serious though.

What I meant by the second line though, is can we updated on what exactly changed with the recent Update/Patch, beyond the Minimap item flash? It would be appreciated if I could get a link if there is one (been looking, no luck; hence my posts here).

If it comes down to it, shoot me a private message on here in regards to it so I don't miss your response. Again, I'd really appreciate anyones help in tracking down the exact Fixes for the recent Update.

Didn't the update come with some kind of notation for what it fixes?

Just curious, i purchased the pc game today (via download on Origin's site), and i'm wondering if both patch 1 and 2 are already installed, or do i need to install them manually?

If you're lucky, EA Origin didn't install them on its own.  Try to start the game from Origin while online.  If it prompts you about an update, or automatically starts updating CANCEL THE HELL OUT OF IT.

If nothing happens and the game starts normally, it's already installed.  If they aren't installed and you cancel them, you can set Origin to Offline mode and it won't prompt you to update the game when you try to play it.

I'm not sure if Origin has this setting because I hardly ever use it, but if you're stuck with them installed you might be able to find a setting to turn off automatic updates, re-install the game while auto updates are off and see if that works.  Otherwise you're SOL and I hope you're one of the users that doesn't experience the bullshit.

Someone who has more experience with Origin definitely knows how to roll the game back to not have patches, it's something that's been discussed much earlier in the thread, but that isn't me.  Just know that you should find out how to do that before you start playing because any saves made with the patches (or that exist when the game gets patched) won't work without them.

Patch 2 + the hotfix have made my game a lot less stable.  Whereas I occasionally saw an infrequent CTD pre-patch with my GTX 770, I've been experiencing frequent crashes now, even after updating to the latest beta GeForce drivers.  At first, I thought it might be the card itself and I was prepared to RMA it but my other games appear to be functioning normally.  Then it hit me: AMD designed the GPUs for the PS4 and XB1.

Taking the time to ensure that the game (and any subsequent patches) would be stable and perform well for players with NVidia hardware would really only affect some PC and maybe PS3 players.  Assuming limited resources were available for testing and development and with the focus seemingly on next gen console players, I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised.

It's disappointing that I can't even load some of my saves now or check my inventory without the game and sometimes my system crashing/rebooting, including one instance leading to a relatively-rare Windows 8.1 BSOD in one case.  I've tried the suggestions listed over at the AHQ site after encountering the DirectX GetDeviceRemovedReason and white screen errors but none of them worked.  Windowed fullscreen, lowering post-processing settings, disabling the Origins overlay, passing the parameter to remove the 30 fps limit for cutscenes, etc.  For those times where I was able to check after a relatively-graceful CTD, GPU temperature was hovering around 30 degrees Celsius according to Speccy so overheating is unlikely to be the cause.

L2Keybind. If you spent a fifth of the time you spend here whining in the keybinds menu, you'd probably be on your way to enjoying the game by now.

I've heard people report that the patches are included in the main download. Could always try though, and remember not everyone is having issues. Most people on these forums play on a glorified calculator and expect to run the game smoothly, let alone at all.

Where's the menu that let's me L2Keybind to my 4th and 5th mouse buttons?  The middle Scroll button?

I'll wait here for you... (no I won't....)

You do know Jaron, that your fanboyism is coming off just as bad as some of the haters on this forum right?

Brogan himself isn't even a hater and has only voiced legitimate concerns with the game, shared by a large portion of the PC community not just here but everywhere on the web. Not all of us can blind ourselves to the flaws of the products we purchased.

"I don't want to hold down a button to auto attack" and "I don't like the default keybinds therefore I'm going to complain until I have my way" are hardly legitimate concerns. But hey, don't let me stop you from believing otherwise. I never stated this game is without flaws. The things you people are complaining about are matters of preference.
