"origin and Windows fighting over who has control of the game".
Pretty much what has caused every single crash-to-desktop for me (I've had no directX errors, TG). Origin app data use spikes every time, so suspected as much. Glad someone with more programming nouse could confirm.
Yes! Be wary of Windows Update too! If WUD is waiting with an update, all hell usually breaks loose. My programming mate says it can't do that, but I will have to insist!
I wanted to ask, if you (Bioware) plan to implent this awesome features, you showed in this presentation, when you mentioned your priority 2 (we had not enough time thing).

Hell if only I can walk... *sigh*
Can't watch it, probably ****** me right off again
Well, after reading Locklyn's post a few up, I don't know why anyone would attempt playing it now. Apparently they are doing some major re-programming.
To see the conclusion of the story? DAI's problems may run a little deeper than people thought before, but I doubt it would ever come to "pulling the game". The game works fine for a large amount of people.
I see no news about the upcoming patch. No communication. Game remains still broken for those who wish to play male elves(of course there are many great other problems like Qunari bow animation). All I see in the news on the DA:I main page are posts about the multiplayer.
I find it vulgar, BioWare has an audacity to release new MultiPlayer content while SinglePlayer remains more than in need for fixes. Microtransactions importance seem to be higher than our problems.
Here I leave links for those who are interested in the male elf problems:
Hi, ppl. I'm having random crashes to desktop with no error messages since patch 2.
I have updated to AMD Omega, my game settings are like always...
Anyone else experiencing this?
This crashes seems to not to be caused by stress moments, as it crashes sometimes just while opening the radial menu.
Yep, I've had three crashes all related to trying to go into the war room. It hasn't done it in a while but I didn't run into this until patch 2 quick fix.
I can live with broken game, didn't even bought it yet. What makes me sad Is that most of people raging here will be first to preorder next Bio/EA game.
I will probably buy a game for 10$ with all the DLCs and patches and I bet I will be more happy than waiting for my hot preorder just to spend weeks/months solving problems with the game/waiting for patches.

See we shouldnt have to wait for patches to this extent. It should of just been released a little later on. I still play the game despite the major bugs only because i love the story and the game overall and i just want it to work correctly so darn much! This is the first time ive bought a game right after release, still might do that but not if its a bioware game. I'll wait.
I'm a little stunned that they have dropped off the face of the earth regarding patch information: no date, no clues as to content, no acknowledgement of these discussions ... just silence.
I had some hope that they'd try to get a second patch out for the holiday period, to be honest, or at least manage our expectations on WHEN the patches were going to be released. I find it hard to believe that they do not have a date in mind (as this would imply that they're making it up as they go along) ... so why not share that date?
I wonder if there are just somethings they have no plans of fixing at all. They wont dare say that however. I say this because there are still bugs with DAO, like Zevrans romance dialouge, that by now they arent fixing.

EA as a publisher set a deadline so they simply could not wait longer with release. EA was sure despite everything they will earn money and they were right after all.

I doubt there is any option having patch this year. Patch 2 had some problems, they probably want to avoid another fail so I assume QA will be longer this time.
Bioware are different people now only thing that did not changed is a name of the company and I think that new Bioware simply do not have guys with a proper skill, especially design wise.
But Ubisoft is worse and worse as well on the other hand. They released today Patch 4 for PC and game still stuters, and pfs are actually lower than before, people are raging at Ubi forums

Youre right. In the future maybe this debacle wont happen again. Hopefully. No matter how much money they made already i cant imagine Bioware wants this headache again.

EVERY game have bugs I am aware of that but Inquisition have so much TECHNICAL problems that this is beyond AAA quality, also they did promise a "From PC gamers to PC gamers" experience which is a lie looking at tac cam and controlls..
Baldurs Gate was really enjoyable even with bugs that most of them were patched rather quickly. Not mention that was their SECOND game made, still more polished from technicall aspects than Inquisition.
Thought I'd share a little tip that really smoothed out all the FPS jumping about when playing on a fairly high end system... (yes, this is a positive post by a user who has had nothing but positive experiences with the game; do not stone me) ;-) ... but for those like myself who want to make their successful gameplay even better, the following is definitely worth trying...
Using x2 980's in SLI and with VSYNC turned OFF ... my FPS would fluctuate like mad ... ranging anywhere from 57fps to 120fps+ depending on the area; I mean it was *always* jumping around.
This wasn't so bad but it did create a bit of an occasional jitter here and there and probably made the screen tearing that is inherent to playing non-vsync, even worse ... nothing I noticed too much, really ... until I used the DA:I command line method to cap my frame rate at 60fps.
Using the following method (see SPOILER below), *completely* smoothed out the gameplay (almost like going from a 60hz to 120hz monitor it was so noticeable) and now my frame rate stays pegged at 60fps (with the occasional drop to 58fps or so, but is WAY smoother than always jumping about between 100+fps and 58fps. Also, it should be said, capping at 60fps this way suffers from none of the laggy issues that VSYNC generally results in (can't stand pure VSYNC due to the latency/lag issues).
Here's a 1080p60hz youtube video I did showing a 10 minute play through in some mountains with a few fights, the FPS counter is in the upper right and is the one included in DA:I. I captured this at 1440p playing with all ULTRA settings and FADE TOUCHED textures. If your bandwidth can handle it, def view in full screen, 1080p60hz HD as it really shows how smooth things are with the frame cap.
I'll list the guide I followed for the in-game frame cap just below the video and as a SPOILER link since it's quite a bit of a read:
Capping your framerate using the in-game console can result in a much smoother gameplay experience, by minimising or altogether eliminating framerate drops, depending on the value of the cap and the capabilities of your current setup. To do this in Origin, right-click on the Dragon Age Inquisition icon, select "Game Properties" and paste in the following line:
-GameTime.MaxVariableFps X
X is your desired overall framerate cap, such as 30, 60, etc. and is actually a floating number. Therefore, should you wish to cap your framerate to your monitor's refresh rate, then the X value would be best set to 0.01 frames less than your monitor's actual refresh rate, which is listed in the display settings in-game. For example:
If your monitor's refresh rate is listed as 60 Hz in the display menu, you would want to set GameTime.MaxVariableFps to "59.99". Similarly, if your monitor's refresh rate is listed as 59.95 Hz in the display menu, you would want to set GameTime.MaxVariableFps to "59.94".
Source: Battlelog
If you want to cap your framerate below your monitor's refresh rate, then to get the best results you should apply the same principle and set GameTime.MaxVariableFps to 0.01 frames less than your desired framerate cap. For instance, my personal monitor is shown to have a refresh rate of 119.98 Hz, but I would not gain anything from setting GameTime.MaxVariableFps to "119.97". Instead, I want to cap my frames at 60 FPS, so I just set GameTime.MaxVariableFps to "59.99". Similarly, I could have set it to "29.99" if I wanted to cap my framerate at 30 FPS!
The cutscene framerate fix involves pasting both of the following command lines:
-GameTime.MaxSimFps X -GameTime.ForceSimRate X+
into the "Game Properties" window in Origin, where X is your desired cutscene framerate. This will not work if you don't copy both lines!
Furthermore, the above fix for uncapping the cutscene framerate can be successfully implemented without having to cap your overall framerate as well! The idea behind capping both the cutscene and overall framerates to the same value is to make transitions from gameplay to cutscenes and back again as smooth as possible!
To this extent, X should match the floating value set for GameTime.MaxVariableFps if you want to cap your framerate to your monitor's refresh rate, or it should match the same integer value, should you want to cap your framerate to a value below your monitor's refresh rate. Here are some common examples which you can paste directly into your "Game Properties" window:
Example of a 30 FPS cap with matching cutscene framerate (60 Hz actual refresh rate):
-GameTime.MaxSimFps 29.99 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 29.99+ -GameTime.MaxVariableFps 29.99
Example of a 60 FPS cap with matching cutscene framerate (59.95 Hz actual refresh rate):
-GameTime.MaxSimFps 59.94 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 59.94+ -GameTime.MaxVariableFps 59.94
Example of a 60 FPS cap with matching cutscene framerate (119.98 Hz actual refresh rate):
-GameTime.MaxSimFps 59.99 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 59.99+ -GameTime.MaxVariableFps 59.99

Note, however, that uncapping the cutscene framerate will result in a serious glitch should you try it before first creating your character in singleplayer! Therefore, you should first create your character, go through all of the initial cutscenes and only when you step into actual gameplay should you save your game and then implement the cutscene fix!
The cutscene framerate fix also seems to negatively affect multiplayer at the moment, so please remove "-GameTime.MaxSimFps X -GameTime.ForceSimRate X+" from the Game Properties window whenever you wish to play multiplayer. Alternatively, you can create two shortcuts on your desktop: one for singleplayer - containing the cutscene fix and one for multiplayer - without the cutscene fix!
...
If you have a system that jumps about from 60fps to 100fps+ all the time, try this method. Personally, I find it to be a way smoother, more responsive method than just playing full frame/non vysnc ... and with no screen tears (like VSYNC but without the lag of VSYNC).
No you do not understand couse you are showing me a link to bugs caused by bad coding, not by bad Engine implementation/rebuilding
I did read that, found mostly quest, items related bugs, any CTD stuttering, audio not working properly to the state that game is not enjoyable? Guess not couse I had fun playing Baldurs Gate with some of those bugs even.
They could at least give us some tools to make fixes ourselves. I bet half of the problems would have 100% working workarounds by now.

This..like he said, people should stop posting different methods for improving something cause its pointless, because its bad coding
Didn't the update come with some kind of notation for what it fixes?
Nope. Just updated, then went to the mainscreen to start up. I just happened to notice the minimap flash with items when I pinged the environment, but that's all that I'm aware of updating.

This is perhaps one of the most ill informed comments I've ever heard somebody involved in gaming (or computers in general for that matter) say...
Hacks, work arounds, fixes, tricks, mods, etc. are synonymous with computing and gaming and I for one have always depended on them (and as an informed guy, will continue to do so) ...
Why?
Cause computers are rife with bad coding, bugs and errors... some instances of such worse than others.
And there is always a way to improve most anything.
