...

If you have a system that jumps about from 60fps to 100fps+ all the time, try this method. Personally, I find it to be a way smoother, more responsive method than just playing full frame/non vysnc ... and with no screen tears (like VSYNC but without the lag of VSYNC).

Just perfect...

Are you using MSAA? How are your temps? Please tell me you're using non-reference 980s

Multiplayer

  • Fixed issue which could result in negative XP being granted in some multiplayer matches
  • Fixed crash that could occur while switching characters in some multiplayer menus
  • Cursed chests in multiplayer no longer look different from un-cursed ones
  • Fixed some missing information on end of match screens when servers are slow in Multiplayer.
  • Fixed Players losing their ability to target when dying while recovering object in multiplayer
  • Fixed situation where host migration after end of match would fail to show end of match details for the remaining players
  • Fixed issue with players being interrupted while interacting with objects in Multiplayer
  • Fixed issue where host can be returned to an empty lobby after quitting out of a match while in the operation failed state
  • Improved appearance of ledge drop-downs in multiplayer.
  • Fixed case which could cause keys to not drop in Multiplayer
  • Fixed case in Multiplayer where players could attempt to use abilities while dead.

I mean absolutely no flame by this. I thought the single player campain was pretty good. (DA:O is by far still my favorite DA:I is good but i personally think its missing some flavor from DA series that is sorely missed. But thats not for this topic.)

However that being said I really honestly have no idea what you "fixed" (points to bolded line) but i never encountered this problem prior to downloading the free DLC that gave roaming mobs in multiplayer... They continously fall throught he map or go through walls and stay inside and get stuck in random places in which you can neither see nor damage them. Which make advancement through the round completely and utterly impossible. It almost seems like it gets worse with each day. I've had the DLC for 3 days now and the first day out of prob 35+ runs i did it happened 2 times? Yesterday i did about the same amount of runs and it happened probably 5 times. Today im currently 7/10 (thats 7 fails because mobs have bugged out and i couldn't continue) So im done. I really do enjoy playing multiplayer with my friends but im done until this is fixed. It's impossible to play and i do not enjoy getting to the 4th area or so in a session and having it bug out and lose everything i just did for the last 10-15 minutes.

Playing native 1440p, I find MSAA to be pretty much useless but I still play with x2 just to "feel" like I'm benefiting ... other settings are are maxxed in that video.

And no ... they are straight up reference 980's overclocked to 1500mhz core ... I love them. Running SLI and since I don't water cool the cards, I decided reference cards would be the best as the coolers work very well and keep all the hot air out of the case ... I couldn't be happier with the cards. And I should say .. .the fluctuations in FPS are really no different than playing Skyrim at high resolutions .. and certain areas jump around more than others ... Valammar, for instance stays pegged around 110FPS but Skyhold jumps all over the place ... even down in to the upper 40's at times ...

Temps? After four hours of DA:I?

Bottom card: 80C

Top card: 81C

I have two side door mounted 120mm fans hovering right over the cards and no game ever gets higher temps than the above.

To see the conclusion of the story?  DAI's problems may run a little deeper than people thought before, but I doubt it would ever come to "pulling the game".  The game works fine for a large amount of people.

I am in no rush to see the conclusion to the story if it means having to suffer through glitches, crashes and an interface that distracts from the experience.  I didn't buy the game on console, so I shouldn't have to accept these issues as I know sooner or later, through patching or mods, there will eventually be a solution to what "my" issues with the game are.  At that point I will be very excited to continue the story I have waited years to see.

No rush.  Just some disappointment at what the "new" Bioware's priorities have become...

EA as a publisher set a deadline so they simply could not wait longer with release. EA was sure despite everything they will earn money and they were right after all.

I doubt there is any option having patch this year. Patch 2 had some problems, they probably want to avoid another fail so I assume QA will be longer this time.

Bioware are different people now only thing that did not changed is a name of the company and I think that new Bioware simply do not have guys with a proper skill, especially design wise.

But Ubisoft is worse and worse as well on the other hand. They released today Patch 4 for PC and game still stuters, and pfs are actually lower than before, people are raging at Ubi forums

I think your 2 bolded statements above are true, but I don't think they are related.  The new Bioware programmers are clearly skilled at console action game design...  They just have nobody left apparently that knows much about PC.

Or they do, and they are being given instructions contrary to any objections they are raising.

As someone living in Edmonton and, I dunno, anecdotal-ly BioWare adjacent I don't think that's true at all. There is very little turnover there. People love working there. Having had a very brief view of one floor of their offices I can assure you that there is a lot of very visible pride and joy in their work.

I have been very vocal of my criticisms of the issues in this and ME3. I'm no fanboy. Yet most of my disappointment comes from the atrocious PR more than the issues themselves. Because I believe the issues will be fixed. I just despise being shut out of the process.

Remember that this game is on an engine that the dev team was not familiar with. And it's not just "a game" they threw onto a new engine. This is a truly epic scale of a game to try your hand at a new engine with.

Just had an odd bug that made me reload an earlier save. Walked into a spider cave and killed them all but all the loot drops were on the ceiling of the cave and I was unable to loot them.....without knowing if one of those drops had a key or a quest item in it I felt I had to reload.

Could be a game breaking bug I've not seen mentioned yet.

I got only few remainings on the ceiling in my current playthrough. Not a critcal bug yet annoying.

Update: Patch 2 now live on Xbox One

Patch 2 Hotfix now live for PC

We have implemented a hotfix for Patch 2 on PC to address graphical issues our players have been experiencing. This fix ensures that the graphics settings are working correctly for everyone; however, players who are using lower graphics settings will notice changes to the visuals they are used to.

Before Patch 2, released December 9, shader quality for all PC users was being forced to run at Ultra. This impacted the performance of low-end machines and caused some unintended visual artifacts for users whose mesh quality was set lower than Ultra. As a result, users with Low or Medium mesh settings saw hair that was shinier than expected.

We attempted to address this in Patch 2 by binding the two settings so that mesh and shader quality were always the same. However, this fix wasn't properly implemented, and it forced shader quality to Low. We provided a command-line workaround Tuesday, but that still required players to ensure that the new shader quality matched their mesh settings.

This hotfix will correctly bind the mesh and shader settings and eliminate this issue. However, now that shader quality is being set correctly for everyone, players using lower settings will notice a decrease in the quality of visuals. This includes the removal of some features such as scars and freckles.

Most notably, the lower settings do not support blending of the age layer, so some users may notice that their Inquisitor (or custom Hawke) has aged considerably. And while this change is how it was originally intended to work, it could be understandably frustrating for people who created their characters before Patch 2.

If you would like to correct this change, you can set your mesh quality to High or Ultra. This will enable features that are disabled on lower settings, but may impact your framerate and performance.

We're sorry for any stress or confusion this may have caused, and we thank the community for helping us quickly identify and address this issue.

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

Through Origin:

  1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
  2. Go to game properties
  3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Through shortcut:

  1. Right Click Shortcut
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • Ultra
  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.

To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.

Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

Patch 2 notes are now live

Key still not dropping in many scenarios, most have some breed of dog in them.

Had a dog visible on map but unkillable.  Most the time you can't even see the dog.

Reaver Rampage still bugged.  (But you guys had time to add new Cosmetics too the game, good job avoiding a day 1 bug that breaks the character completely but ya, we got a few new pretty armors)

Dance of Death still not properly working with Death Blow.

Twin Fangs hit box has trouble registering.  Friends watched my cast Twin Fangs behind target very close only to miss 7 times.  I mean it, 7 times where i was on target missing.  Solultion, fix your hitbox detection or whatever you'd call it cause its annoying to miss a move that many times in Perilous.)

Stealth sometimes will not refresh on kill.  (other on kill effects activate but the passive is ignored for some reason This is death for Assassins if your in perilous taking out assassins/shadows)

Eldritch combo activator Spell Purge on Templar Will for no reason at all miss targets stunned.  (target is stunned by Wrath of Heaven and on top of me, but when I use spell purge, it ignores the target doing no damage this problem does not occur often but on occasion.)

Pommel Strike Hit box is either too small or has problem detecting landing blows.  Have stood in front of target and repeatedly cast Pommel strike only to miss.  (like 10 pommel strikes moving around target trying to find the hitbox...  Not good, increase size of hitbox with pommel strike by 3000 percent)

Earth shatter's activation should be reduced by at least .5 seconds.  Would improve the skill 3 fold. (i'd go a whole second but ya, if its balance issues your worried about, then settle with .5.  (A good rule of thumb is to over do it slightly then adjust where balance is required.  Overpowered skills are far easier to adjust then underpowered ones.)

Hitboxes in all on this game are really really bad.  Needs re-hauled badly.  Skills should not miss when on top of targets.

Finally I managed to have a version of the game before the patch and now I think everything is before the patch, lucky that I had more saves exactly where I was before the patch, cause If the only saves were the ones after the patch it wouldn't load them if you don't update the game

Don't get me wrong as i have said before this game is a good game as far as the idea goes. However Bioware seems to follow the same trend most game companies tend to do these days. That is release products before they are properly polished so that the community has to deal with all kinds of game breaking bugs. Now a developer would comment that its not possible to test the game to find all these bugs with a few people. Im sorry but thats complete and utter garbage. Any dev/community manager for any company that tries to feed people that bunch of lieing garbage should be fired. I've been playing games for many years. As example. I owned a PS1 and have 58 different games for that console. NOT A SINGLE 1 every had any bugs like what we have with modern games. Now a developer or someone would reply with "technology is more advanced its harder to weed those out". Here again i call complete and utter garbage. The technology has advanced yes but the basic implementation of code and graphics and all the other stuff hasn't changed. The foundation is still the same its just been improved upon. The only thing that has changed is the development of almost all games now a days is rushed out as soon as its "playable" (so the company believes) when in fact it isn't.

I never encountered any problems with DA:O like this. Nor did i encounter any problems with DA:2 like this. Why am i encountering them now? Development times for the games being rushed OR the developers are being lazy. I can't say for sure which because im not there to see what the developers are doing but what i can say is video game QUALITY has durastically decreased in the last 3 years on a massive scale. I.E. Darksiders 2, Battlefield 4, Assassin's creed 3, Assassins creed 4, Assassins Creed: Unity, Mass Effect 3, (Mass Effect 3 issues where mainly that the developers where incredibly lazy and recycled Multiplayer maps into the campain which made for several incredibly short boring and utterly pointless missions.) Diablo 3 (just... broken from the start developed completely unlike it's two predecessors in the series. Not even really worthy of being called a Diablo series game. It should be more along the lines of Diablo 3 ARPG/MMORPG hybrid. Its just wrong.) I could go on with alot more but i dont think i need to.

The point is game companies CAN make games that come out polished and proper they have proven it to use. Look at DA:O, DA:2, Darksiders 1, BF2, BFBC2, BF3, Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Assassins Creed 1, Assassins Creed 2, Assassin's Creed Revelations. All of these games where pretty well polished. Sure they might have had a few issues after release. By that i mean none where gamebreaking and it was really JUST A FEW if any at all.

So i've said all that to ask this 1 very big question thats on probably everyone's mind EXCEPT the game companies.

Why has happened in the last 3 years that has made all game companies stop caring about QUALITY OVER QUANTITY! Im fairly sure i know the answer and its probably the same answer as with alot of the worlds problems and it can be answered with 1 word. MONEY. Why make a good game that will last for years when you can make a new game every year and make way more money? Yeah good luck selling your games after a few years when your customers lose all faith in your company.

Good thing car salesmen do not work like that or we would all be dead from vehicle accidents etc.

I think Bioware switched to the Frostbite engine 3 in mid-development. It seems to have caused some serious issues for a lot of people.

Very interesting to see the problems some people seem to have with the game.

I'm not a hardcore gamer - so excuse me if I haven't found as many bugs as players who already played 300+ hours, I only played 80.

But i think that's still enough to get a proper view onto the pc-port.

I have exactly found 2 problems in the game, however, i suppose that only one is really game related.

First one: In Emprise de Lion i cannot start the quest with the ash ?!? on the ground as i simply can not click on it. Does not work. Strange.

Other one just recently happend, my system crashed 3 times while being on the mission "champions of the just".

I have no found no other bugs, except for being pulled in the air sometimes when fighting a dragon.

Dragon Age Inquisition is one of the Games, imho, that came out (for me at last) almost bug-free. I definetely have to give credit to Bioware for such a great game, and I can tell you, I also have been around playing video games for a long time, (I think it started 10 years ago) none I played was perfect. There have always been Bugs. There will be bugs. But Dragon Age is a game, that has few of them, and none are game-breaking. Just compare it to the other games that came out this year. I won't go into detail here, but you know what i'm talking about.

The patches wouldn't have been necessary for me, the game was running fine without them, but it also runs fine with them, so no problems here. The only thing I had to do when the first patch came out was to set the command line.

My thoughts why there are getting more bugs in the newest games: It just that the games are so much more complex than 5 years ago. DA:O had it's faults as well, aside from being a great game. I didn't encounter any bugs there, but to be honest there was not that much to do wrong there. DA:I however is a much, much bigger game, and the few bugs i encountered are not enough for me to say that DA:I is a bad (ported) game.

Well, it's the same engine that runs Battlefield 4. I wonder if they ever sorted out the game crippling multiplayer bug they were fixing for almost a year.

I've been fairly lucky with the game myself. I've crashed 4 times in total in about 50+ hours of gameplay and that's pretty much it. I don't know if you are getting the annoying FX sound bug but I still have that after patch 2 quick fix. It looks like a lot of people with Nvidia cards are having a horrible time with drivers and DirectX errors.

Hi,

Has somebody found a temporary solution concerning the low-FPS issue ? Since the patch 2, I have this problem : I encounter huge stuttering problems, frequently. I play the game during 5 minutes, and suddenly, boom, 4 FPS in my face, it's suddenly ultra-slow. 20 seconds laters, it returns to normal rate, and 5 seconds later, re-boom, stuttering again. And this cycle repeat again and again, the game is now unplayable for me. When I look at my Asus tools during it, I see that :

1419130881-sans-titre.png

And sometimes, during the losses, my CPU burn like hell and is at 100% of his capacity. During 150h of playing, before the 2nd patch, I have never seen that. I only have this problem since the patch 2. How can I fix this ? Have you a date for the patch 3 ?

For info, I have a i5 2500k 3,30GHz / Asus GTX 760 2Go VRAM / 8 Go RAM. I have uninstall the game, reinstall it completely with the patch, I have follow the instruction of EA on the help forum (Ccleaner tip, deletion of some origin files, and the selective boot). I even use Cleanmem before the reinstall in order to see if it was a memory leak like Battlefield 4 (which is on frostbite 3 too, at least I tried...), but no sign of amelioration. Nothing has worked.

To resume, the patch 2 give me nothing significant. I always have PC freezing issues, for example, so I only had more problem since patch 2. And I can't uninstall the patch 2, otherwise I could not play to my actual save. I'm blocked, I can't play anymore.
