To fix freezing/lag problem at start of game (Click to continue screen) you need disable Origin overlay in game. Running DAI in offline

mode also helps. Follow these steps.

-Log in origin

-Origin>App Settings>Origin In Game> Clear the tickbox

-Right click DAI>Game Properties> "Disable Origin for this game"

-Origin>Go offline and then start the game (you may still see lag in "EA/BioWare intro" after that point: you will get zero lag/freezing in that

screen. You will see templars and mages marching without any lag or something bad.

NOTE: If you want to play MP, you have to go online: to do this: press ALT-TAB to return desktop: then click Go Online in Origin.

and go back to game by pressing same buttons. Then click "Log in" left corner in main manu game.

This way works perfectly for me and it should work for you too if you using Win7 64bit.  As for windows 8, that OS is a huge failure

Microsoft ever did, so I'm not even going to talk about it.

Games actually run better on it, thanks to DirectX 11.2 features.  Tests showed Battlefield 4, which uses the same Frostbite engine as DAI, ran better on Windows 8.1 than Windows 7, and there are some reports that DAI also runs better on Windows 8.1.

http://forum.bioware...son/?p=17958689

This of course assumes you have a graphics card that can make use of DirectX 11.2 features, like Radeon HD 7000 series or newer or Geforce 600 series or newer.

Also, as a Windows 8.1 user I can emphatically say that Windows 8.1 is not a huge failure...

Oh well, details, details and more details....who cares all those tests, engines, reports?

DAI works perfectly on my fellow old computer (only GPU is little bit newer) everything else entirely 3-4 years old and yet

people still blaming to BioWare about some issues which that issues entirely their own fault. I can see many people on MP

playing. no doubt many more in single player.

"omfg game doesnt even start" "wtf game crashes on my i7 999 cores CPU!!" "BioWare doesnt care fans" yabayabayabayba

My best advice? Stop whining on forums and show some patience as well as share your possible fix,do some research, update

your GPU/Motherboard drivers etc etc. People always expecting everything from devs for their own mistakes. A quick search

on google can show you many solutions about your Computer's/Game's problems.  Hell, I dont have even a SSD and my 3,5 years old

HDD can handle almost everything. If you care for your computer enough, then he will care for your games in return.

Oh by the way, people loves to buy new things. People loves to spend money for useless things. People loves to buy every new

software/hardware for their PCs, and BAM problems starts...

I have my 4 years old PC and that computer can run many games without serious problems.

Now excuse me please, I have to play multiplayer to get more materials so I can unlock more characters. Cya!

I'm 100 hours into my first game (PC) and I've only had one issue: three times both the PC, the companions and monsters basically got stuck, i.e. they can't move and won't attack. This is "fixed" by either exiting the game and reloading, when it hasn't happened in the same place the second time, or my char can also move by jumping - so she can jump away from the region where they are stuck and after a while the companions spawn after her. And then it's normal again if continuing the game. No idea why it happens. All three times it has been connected to combat.

Other than that, the game has been perfectly stable and runs well - and no bugs that I've noticed either.

Any idea when the new patch will be released? And importantly do you think this one will include the fix for male elves weird arm bug? I am holding off playing again as a male elf until this is patched :(

I would also like to know when the next patch is coming and if it will include a fix for the Display Driver not responding resulting in DAI crashing.

I am not simply whining about this in a forum. I have spent countless hours on Google, Reddit, Nvidia Forums, Here etc.. trying to research this problem and find out the root cause.

As I understand it, it's a problem with the game's coding and nothing can be done on the user's side to prevent this crash, other than certain things to prolong the time between crashes (ie lowering graphics, re-installing drivers/game etc..). However when I'm hitting 60 fps on mostly high and ultra settings, I can't bare the thought of having to lower the graphics even more just to prevent crashing.

I am a patient person and can wait accordingly as I have many other things to do, but honestly I consider DAI one of (if not) the best games I've ever played. So despite my fairly busy schedule, I'm still so eager to be able to experience this game to it's fullest!

It is strange however, I am at the 96 hour mark in my playthrough and up to the 95th hour I only ever had a handful of CTD's as a result of this problem. However, in the last hour of playing I have had more CTD's than I'd had the previous 95, which is unfortunately resulting in the game being completely unplayable :(

Just FIX the game already!

I've played through the game once before Patch 2 was forced down upon me. I had a few crashes but overall it looked good and was totally playable, even though the Mouse/Keyboard mapping sucked. (Mouse Ring finger got used to being abuse after about hundred hours ingame). Now on my second play through (patch 2) I get constant crashes, stuttering, FPS drops 45 down to 5 out of the blue, CPU overheating, I've also had to turn down the graphics effects from first run for it to be somewhat playable.

WTF...releasing a patch that makes the game worse? Get your shite together Bioware FFS

Enough!!!

DO NOT RELEASE GAMES THAT ARE NOT FINISHED!

Anyone else having CTD's when entering the war room?
I'm on my second play through , or was until this started happening. I've run the repair tool to no avail and tbh I think I'm now shelving the game till it gets fixed.
I just CBA to make my way through the loading screens after each crash - it's a real immersion breaker IMO.

^ Show me a CTD that isn't immersion-breaking and I'll show you a Bug-Free BioWare game at launch.

is there a command line to set all settings to high?, settings that have low medium high & ultra options, i would try how my PC handles that, med is & was my default game  settings, mech i changed to high

i'm talking about this, this exist, but does command line for all settings what i mentioned exist to? i wonder

its copied from  some1 else's topic

Here's fix for your issue:

Hey Everyone,

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

Through Origin:

  1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
  2. Go to game properties
  3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Through shortcut:

  1. Right Click Shortcut
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • Ultra
  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.

To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.

Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

first i understood that explanation bit wrong way & & wrote a bit wrong at the Target, some1 explained it, it was a day or 2 after ur post, "C:\games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High is the full correct line, i wrote: parameter -ShaderSystem...

BDW is there a command line to set all settings to high?, settings that have low medium high & ultra options, i would try how my PC handles that, med is & was my default game  settings, mech i changed to high

Where is Bioware on all these threads, what are they doing and do they even give a ****?

Probably no, no ****. They already released the token PC patch so people won't say they haven't done anything, now they will probably wait until people forget about all this. Remember, they already have your money, they don't really care about you anymore.

It would be nice if BioWare could fix some of the textures and the way too glossy hair on Xbox360, and the audio glitches, not to mention the dialouge wheel during interactive party banter never highlighting. And the fact that I hardly get any music or banter at all save for during the intro.

Check your CPU,its used 100%,I have the same problem, there is nothing you can do about it,its a coding problem, the only way is to find some way to get back to the version before the patch to be able to play the game offline

How can i get back to the version before the patch if origin forces me to download the newest version? I dont mean the updates... Origin will download version 1.03 of the game not 1.00... I hope they will release a new patch with a fix for that...

Is it still pirating and a violation of the copyright if i download the unpatched version an "some other sites"?

Edit: I think you are right its the CPU it is used 75-90% but not 100%

i know only one way to do that. reinstall the game & play offline, maybe origin has to be online to, dunno, u can test it, & turn auto update off, if that dose not help then go offline with origin, maybe u half to be logged out in game to & maybe its automatic if Origin is offline, i men if Origin is offline maybe game is to then
