Patching is slowed down by holidays on all fronts

8:40 AM - 10 Jan 2015

Pretty much what we all knew. Would have been cool with someone informing about it in this thread too through.

He should've said that earlier, other company did and even apologized for making players wait.

As long as the patch comes out OK, take your time! I for one can't wait to play Dragon Age: Inquisition (been holding of for patch 3) but I realize these things take time.  :) Hope you guys are refreshed after the holidays and ready to tackle 2015!

will continue playing this one character until a new patch comes in, then maybe start from scratch... with a new Keep storyline.

Yeah, because apparently, the thread has served it's purpose... Although I can't seem to find any bastardised-console-port-crap fix in patch 3 patchnotes...Nor can I find patch 3 patchnotes, for that matter...

Lol they actually closed it? Well it's reduced to nothing but flame wars now anyhow.

Personally it's just best to move on folks, just don't buy into EA's marketing crap in the future. Treat EA/Bioware like any other Japanese gaming company; expect console ports. It's just where the money is for "AAA" devs trying to follow market trends. And just don't buy games on release when they are out before christmas as post-release support is minimal.

That's all you can do to protect yourself from these appalling practices in the AAA industry. They will repeat this.

Now, now folks, what we all do not realize is that Bioware - under the lofty leadership of EA - are merely demonstrating the fine art of public relations in this modern era of social media:

  1. Firstly, create a feature rich forum and invite your customers - the very same customer who made you a AAA company - to it to discuss your great games
  2. Hire a bunch of community relationship managers
  3. Claim you've put out 2 patches already, even though one was a hot patch, another a full patch, and then ... um ... another hotpatch .. (shouldn't we either be at ONE patch or THREE patches released? Someone should decide on a level of consistency here, folks)
  4. Ignore the forum
  5. Ignore every social channel except for Twitter
  6. Make a post in mid December
  7. Go on holiday
  8. Occasionally make random noises on Twitter
  9. Ignore frothing, crazy, weird people on forum ... 'cos: ew!
  10. ...
  11. ...
  12. ...
  13. ...
  14. Start pimping a multiplayer DLC
  15. ...
  16. ...
  17. ...

  20. Start pimping a single player DLC
  21. ...

We all - clearly - have a lot to learn.

Being sarcastic will help no one I'm afraid. Let's avoid the toxic conversations so this doesn't end like the PC Community thread. And this time, I don't think the mods will go as easy on the troublemakers. It's for your own good!

I can understand the frustration, I want to play the game as much as the next person, but we need to keep a level head. Not saying you shouldn't criticize or refrain from giving feedback, but do it in a civil, constructive manner. If you feel upset, step away from the keyboard and take a deep breath. Posting while angry is never a good idea.

The Moderator said:  "This thread has run its course and the discussion has become mostly derailed by hostile language. We are done here."

I really think that the thread became  hostile because of the lack of interest of the devs in their own thread

I will just leave this  here

“To be effective in crisis management in the digital age means being able to use social media strategically. There is no crisis management today without a full understanding of how to use new media to listen to conversations around your brand in real-time, and understand what you do and don’t need to respond to.” – Chris Syme, author of Listen, Engage, Respond blogs at www.cksyme.org

“The secret of crisis management is not good vs. bad, it’s preventing the bad from getting worse.” – Andy Gilman of Comm Core Consulting Group

“When it comes to crisis communications, if you always focus on building a relationship with your customers, fans and followers, you will always find yourself communicating in the right direction.” – Melissa Agnes, President and co-founder of Agnes + Day Inc.

Honestly the only thing I hope for at this point is that we all learn a good lesson and stop pre-ordering games from the companies that do not deserve our money. Wait until user reviews  are settled and then buy the game :)

I get that there's a work around for the scars and hair thing, but the game seems to run at only a slightly better pace than a slideshow, even on low settings. I'm not sure why this is doing that, since I've been playing on an easy mix of medium/high and been running everything just fine. I just downloaded the patch today without knowing there were so many issues involved. Is there any workaround for the terrible stuttering?

Lock it up and blame the forum users rather than exchanging some ideas with the community, that's how you deal with a crisis situation. Well done lads at the BW/EA offices.

"Toxicity", saith the Bioware Devs quia eorum omnes forums, "all is toxicity".

Quality speaks for itself, said a wise person once, and when it does, don't interrupt.  Marketing is a multi-billion dollar business designed to do nothing but interrupt.

This isn't art, no matter how much y'all love yer pretty elves and tasteful boob shots and EA ain't the Louvre.  Money talks and bullsh!t walks and you can guess which side they think we're on.

Unfortunately, these selfsame cretinous marketing practices and the prevalent idea that 'consumers are stupid and don't know what they want' is far, far too widespread. It is standard business practice.  I don't blame the devs or flunkies, not really.  They don't sell the game, they just make it, and often they have rapaciously vacuous bean counters and the fatuously pissant microbes from head office glaring over their shoulders and constantly tapping that all-important bottom line.  Thus this endless conveyor of disappointment and shoddy product creaks by.

All we can do is take it or walk on.
