70% of your points relate to items that affect the epilogue. You have no insight on how these will effect (If at all) on future titles. They do not affect gameplay. I repeat they do NOT affect the >>GAMEPLAY<<. Have you BW fanboys completely forgotten what this even means? That BW just gives you an alternate line of dialogue, or instead of X character it's Y character and you somehow think this intrinsically affects the gameplay? Really...

10% of your points relate to palette swaps

The remaining 10% may have some validity. Only because you get a different level depending on mage/templar, and even then the mage one doesn't make sense...

Well of sorrows.............. biggest joke ever made (besides the dev team). You spent like a fkn hour in there "CHOOSE WISELY INQUISITOR" "IF YOU SCREW THIS UP WE'RE ALL DEAD". I literally stood there for like 10 mins thinking wtf should I do.

Imagine my expression, when I hurried to the forum to read the 'well of sorrows' thread to find out the only change, THE ONLY VISIBLE EFFECT ON GAMEPLAY, is whether Cory's dragon starts at half hp or not.... LOOOOOOOL. Zero chance of any danger. Zero change of making a wrong move. Zero change of anything you do having any meaningful impact on the game.

BW fanboys "oh oh oh but in future games, which I'm gonna preorder from day 1, that one change could have another consequence on one line of dialogue, or possibly a different JPEG in the ending".

Class/race/gender changes have a variety of different dialogue? Yeah no sht Jason, one would hoped they are not all voiced by the same person.

5 playthroughs lol I don't even

The majority of these do affect the story during your playthrough, and are merely restated at the end of the game/epilogue. I don't see how that makes it any less impactful. You just can't win with some people it seems. But to say this game has no choices and consequences, when in fact it has the most in an RPG to date is ludicrous. Your inability to acknowledge that doesn't lessen the myriad of choices and consequences I and many others continue to enjoy on our playthroughs.

But this thread is about patches, so lets get back on that topic please. If you have any further comments feel free to PM me your thoughts.

Really? No consequences and it all plays the same? You just lost all credibility to me right there.

It's apparent you didn't read a word I wrote. I never said to accept anything, I said people need to be more patient with patches as a rushed patch can cause more issues than we had to begin with. Patch 2 is indicative of this.

How did i lose credibility or if you mean 4 mages instead of 4 templars to close the breach? who ever is the emperor? the non existent army? or still me and 3 other guys killing the final boss? All the choice is hinted for future games which never materialize. I prefer my choice and consequence in the same game. Future maybe choice is not a choice as it is so unworkable that it will never happen.

This game barely has any meaningful choice and consequence within the confines of the game it self. That is what matters, not some future what it that will never materialize. But hey if that is good enough for then good for you for having low standards.

Or choice of Leliana dead? no matter she is alive again, Killed flemeth nope she is back again. If that is C&C for you then go play better games. Your divine thread you do know what will happen in the future right? it will be ignored and we will never revisit a region where that will matter. Orzimaar is gone the same way. But hey keep pretending that this game has C&C.

If the C&C is not within the game itself then there is no C&C other than so called thin illusion of choice which you keep claiming as evidence of choice. A choice in a interactive medium has to be interacted with, not hinted for future. Here this game there is none. Save your people doesn't matter, let them die doesn't matter. There is no consequence for anything and if there is no consequence then how can choice even have any value if all of them are the same.

Couldn't reply earlier blasted net went down.

Hi Guys. I just bought DAI today and installed it.

Turns out It is unplayable due to lag and stuttering even from the start the EA logo and main menu.

I've read several forums and tried the workaround, the CCleaner, and taking Origins offline. None of that work.

Please help! Has this issue been resolved? did I miss anything? Any help would be really appreciated!

Think it's fair to say him being 'clueless' about these things just means he didn't know these things were possible.  He didn't know any better.

At least he's not one of these sarcastic jerks that comes in here and starts belittling people.

Oh wait....

The word 'clueless' was from his post.  My use of it was not intended as belittlement.  My comment to him was merely that his lack of understanding was 'beyond my understanding'.  I did not belittle him in the slightest.

I have to agree, there are little to no consequence for any dialog option, or choice you make in game, besides whos with, some different dialog options, and some additional "agents" at your fortress.. Nothing seems to matter in any impactful way..Heck, Fable 1 had a better choice/consequence setup, and that thing is like 15yrs old!

That really depends on what system you are playing on.

For my Phenom based Nvidia powered PC I had to download the latest Nvidia beta driver and turn all my graphics settings to low/med, and crank my gpu fan speed up.

... and I still get the occasional black or white screen crash with no error messages.

Here's a revelation to all of you...

None of the bioware games have had meaningful choices....

I'm sorry that the discussion started turning towards the story and potential spoilers, but I think its because so many people were waiting for information that never came, whether it be a patch date, or specific pc grievances, we have been ignored.

And frankly...  We need somewhere to talk about what we don't like about Biowares story or characters where we can be frank about the company.  The story forums are impossible, either people getting banned for "mah politics", or told to leave if they dont like the content, or dog-piled by diehard "fans" who think BW shits mana from the maker so...

I think BW is just leaving these 2 PC threads open to contain the bitching.  They aren't commenting, and I'd be surprised (albeit positively) if they were actually checking them for feedback.

I hope it is a patch that fixes the issue a good number of us are having where we are unable to connect to the DA servers and are told to go online with Origin and try again.  We ARE in online mode with origin and it still wont connect.  Some numb nut marked the main thread on Answer HQ that is complaining about it as Solved 3 months ago "temporarily" and that it was being worked on and that was the last official word on the thread.  Marked the mods post as inappropriate due to this.

patch will take atleast a month minimum, do remember it has to be locked then undergo Sony and Microsoft certification.

Yes, I'm still hoping for "sometime in February" ... but it's probably beyond reasonable optimism to expect patch 3 sooner.

I run a nvidia vard with a core i7 system and crank up the vidocard fan speed to 80%
it still runs pretty hot so i opened up the case as well 8-)
Also run the game in windowed full screen, and with these adjustments run crash free.
When i monitor videocard temparatur it shows around 70 degfees celcius(wich i think isnt that high).
Everything is dustfree inside the case and airflow is ok (multiple intake and outlet fans installed)

This is the only game that does this to my system 8-)
Looks like it taxes your hardware to the max somehow.

See I was fine with everything you said til the bolded. You were reasonable, and listing reasonable complaints.

Then it just became "really"?

I recall complaints about JE's control scheme on PC (hell I find it clunkier than DAI.)

Yes really, but thank you for the poorly directed condescending remark.  I, also remember JE as well, yes it was  clunky, although it did have an enjoyable tongue in check story and characters (and hey I loved the vibrant colours)... still it was a poor console port'. I am however trying to determine why the hell you mentioned JE at all, it has nothing to do with this game, unless you are referring to bindings. Which means you seem to think the bindings are fine as is, that is not the case... many functions, cannot be rebound, especially on a mouse (I'm using a macro system, I should not have to do this). Movement is wsad only (a big step backwards), looting and search functions are poorly implemented, menu system?, no right click functionality for game menus, and the merchant buy and sell turns into a click fest. What I find amusing is how a graphics over haul has hidden many of the poor aspects of this game, yes the game looks gorgeous. Myself, I miss the ability to talk to my companions in the field (now I must return to camp, like running a stop watch just to keep a breast of what's cool and what's not, their like fixed story books with no soul, and it kills the experience... especially when you are plagued by the banter bug)... it lacks quality tools, classes and features that enable a player to create his/her in game character (heaven forbid that Crpg features be added to a console game??? why not, many console players actually enjoy those elements, now it feels like a poor action game). I'll stick to my original post, and that is, this is not the BW I started following 13 years ago... this not the BW that had one of the best Dev player relationships in gaming. You can't keep giving the middle finger to a platform and think it'll be ok, business as usual. To be honest had TW3 been on time, I would of been playing it, not this game, D2 and ME3 stung.

That's great for console players but who's going to do the QA and "certification" for the PC version?

No, really, who?

Who did QA and "certification" for that last one?

If we have to wait until March or April for a patch that actually patches the game OK.

But how many of us will even care by that point?

I'm already playing other, (imo) better games.

They may not be as pretty and flashy as DA:I but they are (imo) better games.

... and their devs communicate with the players.

This (bolded) is in fact why my brothers and their families so loved DA:O when I bought it for each of them.

Along with the RTwP coupled with tactics and queuing, and all the other things that made DA:O so good.

Then BiowEAre began stripping out all those features to make the games more appealing to the console players.

Well, the console players that I gifted DA:O to hated DA2 ... HATED it to the point they haven't even looked at DA:I.

Combat wise my rant from another topic:

All these developers told us that D&D system not designed for computers, does not really work, well its a decade now and so far i have not seen a single hint of a decent combat design from these crpg devs none.

If you cannot design proper combat then for god sake just go back to a proper ruleset which works and does the combat balance for you. Its been 10 years and so far i have no seen a single piece of evidence that they have been able to create a coherent and well balanced combat system.

Why cant the enemy disable my characters, do combos? I mean i have all the good stuff they got nothing, so whats the point of the combat as there is barely any challenge. If you want balanced and fun combat both the players and the enemy have to play by the same rules and draw from the same pool otherwise we keep getting this crappy watered down nonsense we have in this game.

Remember the ogre in origins who would pick up a character and ruin him, or enemy mages casting prison, paralyses. Here nothing.

So a tip bioware go back to a proper ruleset, since you cannot design any form of a proper combat system. Your earlier games worked cause you used a d20 system for both your DnD games and Kotor.

Finally for the love of god decide what type of combat you want and go that way. The current approach of being both action and tactical does not work, especially not when you have skills which require active block and dodge but no animation cancelling and we have 3 other brain dead party members to control as well. So choose a direction and go either tactical or action but your current system of pleasing both sides does not work since both sides are pissed at you.

Uhm, just a friendly reminder and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but -

PC players will very likely get the patch long before the console kids. No MS or Sony certifications required.

Then we can start a new thread complaining about it

It will be glorious.
