The most recent patch that was supposed to fix 'some hitching in conversations' has done the opposite for me.

I've done absolutely nothing to my in-game settings (well, I have now to try to iron out the hitches) and conversations seemed to be running quite smoothly initially.

Now, with this patch, there are severe hitches...like, horribly severe. In the prologue when Cassandra is marching my character through Haven, everything freezes *except* for my character's eyes which blink rather creepily.

That's just one notable example, but essentially the entire prologue is full of slow downs/stuttering/hitching.

Also I received my first CTD while using the Mantle drivers today. Woohoo!

What's going on, Bioware?

my 5stages chart was a short one, denial->anger->acceptance

You say that - but my crashes to desktop came with AMD 280 on a relatively brand new PC.

Even using Mantle? I'm using 2xAMD Radeon HD7950s and I get the predictable CTDs every now and then when I'm using DX11, but never when using Mantle.

Yeah - didn't happen with any of the earlier patches so they've borked something

That s almost exactly what happend to me the game worked pretty good with patch 2 for me (some minor bugs but nothing game breaking or affecting performance) and now when when i started a new character my cutsences went crazy i mean my framrate droped down to 7! up untill this point i had solid 35-45 fps on ultra settings so it has nothing to do with my computer wich btw is far superior to the reccomended specs

Okey....wow...just wow!

At first I had no problems, everything worked fine. Better than fine.

And then I noticed the weird codex bug that I mentioned earlier. Annoying and stupid sure, but I could live with that.

Then I noticed that the party banter is worse than before! I have been playingon and off since 8 this morning (here in Sweden it is now 16.21)

I have gotten two banters. Two.

Before I got one an hour, sometimes there would be two-three hours with total silence and then I would get three-four banters in a row.

Now basically nothing. I am at the end game but I have not exhausted the banter, I have been running around with a basically new party today to make sure.

And now...this... this is awful!
I have been so upset abot the embarassing tactics but I could live with it since the AI seem intelligent enough (as long as you set them to follow themselves at least)

But now...I tried to fight the Highland ravager, the last thing I do before facing the end fight.

And this is painful. During the dragon fight's I usually play as my mage, whoever that is. In this particular fight it's Solas. So..Solas stands away from the dragon blasting it with ice and once in a while my three melee characters suddenly get confused with what they are supposed to do.
So they run towards Solas for some reason. And now, this is not when the dragon is flying or anything. This is in the middle of the fight, they are attacking the dragon and then suddenly, "Oh hi Solas!" and all three runs towards him, but then suddenly they realise, "Oh dragon!" and turn back again. When they are almost back with the dragon "Oh, Solas!" and run back to him only now they run in to each other and stand there spinning around in a big stupid lump of idiots while the dragon is basically roasting them.

What the...?

This has never happened before.
I've seen the mabaris and the wolves do this, but never my party.

The AI seem to have lost all intelligence with the new patch.

Just a hypothesis - don't know that this is the case, but it sounds to me like there's a maximum distance that characters can be apart from each other in a fight, and your Solas was just outside that limit. So the chars would attack the dragon, notice "oops, I'm not supposed to be quite this far from the controlled character in battle", and start closing the distance to Solas. Once they are close enough, the priority to attack the dragon takes over again. Thus the running back and forth.

I bet if you had moved your Solas a bit closer to the dragon, this behavior would have disappeared.

I'm still speculating of course, but perhaps this limit was introduced to prevent chars running off after fleeing enemies. Often I'd have my chars, after a battle, spot a wounded, hostile animal, and run off after it, unless I clicked "disengage". Maybe they wanted to prevent this behavior. Not very helpful in a dragon fight though, where you want your ranged characters to keep a fairly long distance.

I get what you are saying, but that can't be it, or they reaaaally need to give us longer range

mEULIsC.png

This is a picture of "the huddle"
As you can see the distance between Solas and "the gang" is not that far. And the dragon had just jumped backwards here, it was much closer, about where the fire is.
That is not a far distance :S

That's frustrating. I've seen similar behavior from additional NPCs accompanying the party before (like Gatt, or Stroud) where they would just run back and forth, or else just spin in a slow circle in one spot without engaging the enemy, but never saw it happen with party members.

It sort of works as long as I keep Solas at the same distance as the melee fighters...but then, what the hell is the point of having ranged fighters with you? :S And mages are squishy! They need to stay back.

Haha, my character is female though ;) And this is my Dragon-team, I normally don't bring Bull along :P

And I don't see anything wrong with surrounding my Cadash with handsome men ;)

In the name of Bioware and the spirit of not excluding vegetarians, could we agree to call it a 'cucumber fest' once in a while? :P I love steak with fries, though. :)

I just had an idea. Wouldn't it be hilarious if someone went to Bioware's stand at PAX cosplaying as an elven male with broken arms? And then he walks towards Mike Laidlaw and Mark Darrah and gave them a mouse and keyboard while telling them "Here, thanks to you I have no use for these". :P

I assume they wouldn't, so when they ask "What are these?" we can tell them "Read the tooltip. Oh, no tooltip? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?" :P

So can anyone confirm if they've patched the well-loved item duplication exploit?

*praying Bioware isn't really that stupid*

No more duplication exploit, no more unlimited buying power, no more free Skyhold furniture from VR, no more free codex entries - all of those buy mode exploits have been fixed.

Oh yes, because those were what was wrong with Inquisition.

CTD's, black/white screen crash, borked elves, broken quests and dialogs, m/kb controls only a hammer wielding contorsionist can appreciate, non-existent tactics and A/I, retconned lore and plot holes you could fly a 747 through?

Nah ... don't worry about THOSE trifling matters, fix the exploits cause they're what's ruining the game!

It's likely they fixed them because they were easy to fix, not because they allocated a large number of resources to it.

@Bioware

Thank you so much for the patch!! :D

I am especially happy that you have:

*Added key binding that allows players to walk :)

*Added mouse cursor scaling :)

*Changed party banter system to be less random to prevent extra-long periods where no conversations would occur <3

*Changed Tactical Camera so that it no longer re-centers when the player changes party members :)
