Some of us do "get it". It's about expectations of what was past DA games and "promised" in DAI. Many DA RPG fans bought the game on those expectations... I mean I like chocolate pudding. Bioware gave me chocolate fudge...similar but not the same

I can respect that view.  And I understand a lot of people expectations were not met. And as you have done here, you can say things without getting on some kind of elitist pedestal while making allusions that everybody beneath you is somehow clueless, or unworthy of your greatness.

I fully expected this game to be a KB/M game, but this iteration of DA doesn't feel good for me.  Once I switched it became a fun game to play.  That's what its about for the me.  Answering the question; what is the most fun way to play this game?  Meanwhile there are others who have no issue playing the game with KB/M.  I have heard some reports of people playing keyboard only, piano style.

If you somehow haven't been able to find a control scheme that works for you in this game and then complain about it.  Others chime in with I play the game just fine.  Then get attacked for being ignorant to how the PC master race plays game, blah blah blah.

Well I have zero respect for nonsense.

... I would find *any* game impossible to play with a controller.

Then please go to the appropriate console threads. I'm sure the old gen console players have tons of bug and performance complaints.  Also, play DAI on the PS3 or 360 and come back with your Honest review. I love to hear what you have to say on your experience.

In the meantime:

Personally, I find it must frustrating plaing any game with a gamepad controller.  Blame it on hand eye co-ordination weakness.

In the meantime:

I've read many  a post complaining of the difficulty in getting a gamepad controller to work'

I'd love to hear the steps you go through to:

1. Please include your PC gamepad controller type. Many of us would like to know

2. The steps necessary to get it to work with the game

3. How you lunch the game

4. Can you use the keyboard and mouse with the controller

5. Steps to resume keyboard control over windows, once you exit the game.

Thanks

Well the people who despise the game have made it pretty clear you have to be a mouth breathing neanderthal to not realize how bad and idiotic every aspect of the game is.

No click to walk, no autoattack, screwed up tac-cam, etc. ... Yeah, nearly DA:O controls...

Is there any modern next gen RPG that has ever had click to walk? Who honestly gives a **** about click to walk? The things you mentione ddon't make the control scheme massively different, those are tiny differences you guys can't get your head around for some reason. It's almost like you guys **** your pants anytime you play a new game that has an unfamiliar control scheme.

If you can't get over the KB/M controls enough to play the game, just don't. They aren't going to patch something that essential to the game, and it's just laughably annoying at this point. Bioware truly does deserve better fans.

Yeah, I have no idea what constitutes a "next gen RPG" either. Unless he's referring to next gen console RPG, but this game was made for PC gamers by PC gamers, so that can't be it.

I'm using Xbox 360 which is native.  I would rather use Rumblepad 2 Logitech, because I prefer the RB and LB to be buttons rather than triggers and I also prefer the grip.  I couldn't get the game to work with the Logitech controller, tried every emulator I had I just couldn't get it to go.  So I was disappointed in that.

So I would like some answers to those questions as well, specifically those using non Xbox controls.

By next gen console you mean 5 years old hardware in a box, right? Just trying to understand the terms. ;)

I just don't understand this attitude.  What pressure? Try it, if you don't like it so what?  Try something else.  You people act like you're afraid of being a pariah for trying something other than KB/M.  Geez get off your pedestal.

LOL .... dude, project much?  I was talking about my own pressure.  Pressure that I put into wanting to enjoy it.  I am sorry you thought I was referencing what you said.  Your opinion had nothing to do with what I said.

Okay. Will do. I'll be enjoying great games like DA:I while you go do whatever you want to do? I think it's more likely though that you'll stick around here for the next 6 months-year complaining endlessly acting like you are all somehow better than the people who spend their time here actually enjoying things.

You guys are in such a bubble you think you are anywhere near a majority or even a plurality.....you're not. you are a Vocal whiny minority, as is evidenced by visiting anywhere else on the internet.

Woah typo...said silent minority....what was I thinking.

Let me give this a shot.  Since I wrote that note earlier I have connected my PS3 controller.  It is too early for an opinion on game play, but I can answer some of these questions.

1)  PS3 Dual Shock 3 Controller

2)  I found an app called "Better DS3" that I run before executing DA:I

3)  I launch the game from the desktop DA:I shortcut.

4)  Within the game settings, once you select gamepad, no input from the keyboard is recognized.  Seems like a Binary switch on that one.

5)  No steps ... just happens automagically.

I had ZERO trouble with DA:I recognizing the DS3 Controller.  Honestly I was expecting problems, but it worked the first time no problem.  I have other USB devices connected and had no nonsense of unplugging everything so DA:I would recognize DS3.

Since I am using the PS3 controller all the in-game prompts are messed up.  There's no "A" or "B" or "Y" on the PS Controller.  The "Better DS3" app emulates an XBOX controller to the OS, so I expected this ... kinda annoying but I understand why this is happening.

We're talking PC. "Made by PC gamers for..." and all that. So no, I don't have to play like a console game. They told us one thing and did another.

I'm curious was it like this right out of the gate, or did it improve with one of the patches?

I ask because I initially tried to get my Rumblepad 2 to go, with x360ce vibmod.  This has always worked seamlessly for me in the past. With the same issue of in game prompts not matching your button ideograms.  That's to be expected though.

But here I had no luck at all, there was some response without any emulator but the button mapping was in complete disarray.  So I plugged in my Xbox 360 PC controller and it works perfectly.  Just not my favorite controller by any means.

We're talking PC. "Made by PC gamers for..." and all that.

That is the crux of my issue.  Making that type of statement TO ME means a control system that doesn't feel like a console.  They absolutely should make a console UI (they did), AND a PC control system.  They made a single system but they made ME believe the PC control system was more like ... DA:O.

While there are others that might feel the PC control system is good enough, I fall into the camp that it is woefully lacking.  I place some of that on the expectations I had when BooWare made statements like "going back to our roots" and "Made by PC gamers for PC gamers" ...  IMHO this "perception" was exactly what BooWare intended me to have.

They told us one thing and did another.

Right ... because I expected one thing and got something woefully inadequate (for me).  I am unhappy.  I really prefer not to play this with a controller.  Had they stated this was a requirement, I would have licensed it on the PS4 (or not at all).  Because I want to get enjoyment from the game, I am willing to try this with a controller.

At this point it is obvious to me the BooWare doesn't care what the PC community thinks about the control experience.  As I've said several times in this thread already their "Conform or Die" attitude towards "classic PC DA Control" stinks.  Looks like I am unwilling to die.....

Ah... here they are!

I was wondering when the next crop of "whattabunchacrybabies!" would stomp in.

(Just a note - one way they denigrate you is by stating how easy it is is for them to have a great experience while ignoring the pages after pages of legit gripes and actual breakage this game has - especially when they play a console-based game on a console or use the device the game was optimized for - but never actually admitted to.  It works for them, so obviously we have no actual legitimate complaints.

Personally I was missing the smug condescension couched in a "civilized" and patronizing tone interspersed with the thinly-veiled (and not so much) jabs here and there and that they so generously lower themselves to come and inform us of their superiority is to be lauded.

It's like bathing in a cool mountain stream after all our harshing the buzz, mane.

Don't contradict them, fellow PC losers.  Praise them.  Praaayyyyzzzzzzz them!

They know so much more than we peons, we delusional toxes rooting in our own faults and foibles for not just bending over and taking it. It's so obvious our complaints are baseless - they must be as even EA's staff has dismissed them so summarily!

Back to your holes, PC Community.  G'wan, scuttle!
