While i greatly appreciate any form of patching... Its just..

Now my character has full on black hair, where as before it was light brownish. And hair in my game now has some insane gloss effect (graphic setting has zero effect on this). Bummer!.

P.s is it possible to uninstall the patch? Im sorta guessing not. =/

Do you know if the graphics were intentionally lowered or not ?

Of course they weren't "intentionally lowered". That would be beyond silly - there aren't any reports on higher quality settings not working as intended.

I wonder if they've write protected a configuration file somewhere. I'll do some digging and report back.

If you are experiencing issues, by all means please report it to us via twitter at @dragonage or on Answers HQ, but don't "hammer" these sites. That's counterproductive. That might not have been your intention, but lets all make sure we deal with our fellow humans in a respectable manner.

I cannot donwload the patch, I cannot play, the patch is a mess, and you just come here to quote that?

/facepalm

JPR out!

Trust me, I'd never disrespect anyone (insults, trolling...) but I'm quite annoyed, which I hope is an understandable feeling, and "making noise" is not counterproductive, but quite the opposite, it makes you heard. Like I said, no disrespect intended, but it should get fixed faster. As an IT manager, I can tell you our clients get pissed with unsolved repeating failures, and as long as we don't get insulted, we must "suck it up".

In any case, I appreciate the effort into fixing the game.

Regards.

How is this a good patch? It has ruined the graphics, the game is low now no matter what. This is complete and utter bullshit.

Agreed.  People on low end systems already playing on low graphic settings pre patch have no idea what just happened to the rest of us

Credit where credit is due, this is a good patch.  Shame most of this stuff should have been in place at launch a month ago...

Forcing everyone to play on the lowest graphic settings is considered "good", now? In that case, yeah, the patch is f**ktastic.

Whatever they've done to the hair, it is odd.

I don't think it's exactly the case that they didn't put in the higher level meshes.  I was previously playing on the low and medium meshes (I was figuring out exactly what options I wanted for performance versus appearance) and the shininess was far worse than what I am getting now, post-patch.

But on the other hand, they're definitely shinier on high than they were before, there is a visible gloss on them now that was not there previously.  Can't say I approve, but it's not as bad looking as I'd feared.  I'd rather it was the way it were before though, for sure.

The hair on ultra looks really shiny and distracting. Also noticed that the grass stands out more and it isn't a good thing.

Pls hotfix this ASAP, Bioware. My best mate and I can't play the game like this, it's too visually jarring. ; A;

If people/developers don't want to get spammed outside forums, then maybe they sould use the forums, and not use facebook/twitter and other crap social sites to transmit information about the game, while NEVER using the Answers HQ part of the forum you just mentioned. What they keep doing is what's counterproductive, using other sites, and never the forums of the game.

I wish I could get rid of this patch.... Now I can't even play the game anymore because of this low graphic ****.

It's ridiculous.

Especially since my game was fairly stable for the most part. This is just disappointing.

I don't have the shiny hair bug on any NPC except for one. CULLEN!

Ok I do have the bug. But only certain NPCs have it. My character does not, nor do any of my companions, as far as I know.

The apothecary in Haven has one hell of a shiny beard though, it's almost comical to look at.

Or it could just be the lighting, which is why I'm not seeing it.

Same with mine.  Had zero crashes or glitches.  Just needed the ability to zoom out of tactics.  Had my settings on ultra/high, was gorgeous.  Now my graphics is trash.

OK, just canceled the download.

Had barely any problems during my 75h playtime. I'm not going to mess up my Quizzies hair.

Outside the graphics, what about the KB&M controls? Can I get a good answer inside this rage pool?

Ok, so to sum it up, immediately upon launching (perhaps more to come):

- Shiny hair on max settings

- Post processing is broken

- Flickering, lots of it (I saw some flickering before the patch like once every 20 minutes, now every 5 seconds some part of the background flickers. Single 780 Ti).

Good thing you took 3 weeks to test it, right?

Do you know if the graphics were intentionally lowered or not ?

I do not, and wouldn't have the knowledge or expertise to comment on that.

However, for everyone in general, if you are experiencing issues, please report them to @dragonage or on AnswersHQ

To help us troubleshoot issues, details of what you are experiencing, as well as things like screenshots and DXdaigs are helpful.

This sort of information can be passed on to our dev team and used to troubleshoot what might be going on. It also enables other users here and on AHQ to help you or potentially identify workarounds.

I can do stuff with that information, but not much I can do with "fuuuuuuuuuuck youuuuuuuu" ;)

Looking at all the screenshots here I think they've forced low graphics settings. For everything, not just meshes. Terrain, textures, grass, LODs... they all look worse.

Sounds like the devs locked it to lower settings (meaning its ignoring your high and ultra settings even though you can select it) to test out the new hair fixes at lower settings and performance improvements on lower settings. Ultimately forgetting to remove this "lock" before pushing the patch live.

Either that, or the game got hardlocked at the quality that console gamers have.

It happens. Lets just hope its a quick hotfix to solve this mishap.

As if 'Walking toggle' in and itself defines the WHOLE PC-specific control issues they are addressing. They have made a TON of tweaks to PC controls in this patch and another control specific patch is in the works..so chill. Also, marketing for products should always be taken with a grain of salt. You can't be that naive not to understand that in today's world..and rage endlessly on forums when something doesn't happen word-by-word.

It doesn't, and the game is certainly playable without a "walk toggle". But is it fun? No. You end up running past your intended destination most of time, coasting to approach lootable objects turns into a chore, combat is frustrating, with the end result that you fight against the game rather than enjoy it.

(to make the whole experience more frustrating, walking is already available on PC, one just needs to use an Xbox controller - I know, I tried - but I don't like playing an RPG like an FPS. I don't seem to be the only one frustrated by this.)
