Ok, a question. Does this patch actually fix something? I mean, I'm about to open Origin to play DAI and actually I didn't have any problems before with the game, I haven't seen any bug, only a few crashes... So in my case... should I install it? Or just enter Origin and disconnect as soon as possible? Will I be missing something? (I play on PC but don't have any real problem with controls) Just asking for opinions on the situation of this patch!

Glad I came here before downloading the patch. The game is a pain to play now but at least I can play it in the former state. I'll play offline from Origins until they get this thing right.

Any of you tried deleting profile.ini file and starting a new game? Should help if this is not a bug due the patch. Probably your in game options returned to default after the patch. Same situation was with assassins creed when people were complaining about downgraded graphics after patch nr.3

I still can't believe this wasn't tested! HOW was this let through? Didn't anyone notice these issues at all? As far as i've seen here the shiny hair/graphics downgrade problem happens for ALL pc players.
I'm a software tester and if i were to let something this major gone through i would probably get fired. This screams incompetence and doesn't exactly restore any faith in the new bioware.

It does fix the voice and gender/race issues, I have tested that and it works.

I'd personally recommend not installing the patch. Apart from the graphical issues, quite a few appear to be reporting more instability since the patch.

I never had that problem! :S So... maybe I shouldn't install it until it is hotfixed? I mean I want my ultra graphics as they are

After my initial "god the shiny hair!" shut down of the game, reading here about the other issues made me re-open it and try some things.
Shiny hair, stubble/shadow is gone. He seems younger somehow (missing wrinkles?).
Also, yes Scout Harding's freckles are gone and ice looks plain and painted now.

Meshes seem to be all over the place. Some look better, some look worse. The hair problem is on pretty much all characters, though bright hair colors show it less. Cullen's hair looks more defined though but still has shine. That is somehow very funny
Curly got some special love.
My settings are a mix between medium and high. Practically everything character related was on high, terrain on medium.
This really takes the fun away from playing
I want that shiny hair gone and my old skin back!

I was surprised it actually seems to be well done.Thank you for the radar pulse!
I don't have too much experience with it (the game so ugly it broke my eyes), but it seemed unobtrusive yet reliable, and the subtle pulse was a nice touch (in a game with generally horrible UX and unpleasant UI).

The thread grows so fast it's impossible to keep track so I don't know if it was posted before, anyways briefly about Mantle improvements:
Load times have improved by a lot (comparable to DX) and so has the frame rate (tho it might be because of the downgraded graphics). Still stutters (no frame rate drop tho). Ironically, the better load times are completely negated by brand new crashing, during and after loading. Out of 6 times I loaded different areas, it crashed 3 times. At that point, I just gave up and went back to DX, because I want to test some abilities after the patch. Conclusion: Mantle is even worse than before, do not use.

Game developers don't get paid by the hour. The work day is never officially over for them. Some days, you may get called in at 3 in the morning to work on the game; just depends.
I know I'd be pulling overtime for this problem here.

I would imagine they will burn the midnight oil to get the hotfix taken care of, if they need to. But closing time on the West Coast isn't for another three hours, so they might get to knock off on time after all.
Regardless, hyperbole about how the hotfix probably won't be out until forever doesn't really help anything, and comes off as adolescent pouting.

I don't believe this. I was struggling with this game for over 70 hours. I ended it, I've survived constant DirectX errors, lags from time to time, quests that I just couldn't complete... and now I have 20% longer loading times, grass that looks like made in Paint by five yo child, shininy hair... and I had DirectX error while ending playing and going back to desktop... I'm not even mad anymore, its kind of funny...

So this new patch is quite terrifying for me since I didn't have any problems before it. I haven't played since last night and it's not yet installed. Is there a safe way to avoid installing it altogether?

If you're talking about this
Hey guys, just had a chance to test the new patch and apart for the graphics being poorer there's even more stuttering than before. Definitely something went amiss!
However, I wouldn't despair about the Mesh Quality. The patch probably broke the in-game setting, but we are PC gamers, so just do the following:
1) Navigate to your "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save" folder
2) Open the "ProfileOptions_profile" file with Notepad
3) Increase the "GstRender.MeshQuality" parameter by a factor of 1.
4) Save the file, open the game and check the quality of the graphics.
5) If the meshes are not of appropriate quality again, just repeat step 3 ("4" is probably the maximum value for this setting).
I haven't tried this for myself, but given that I have Mesh Quality on "Medium" in-game and the "ProfileOptions_profile" setting was "1", I assume that we can increase it manually from there! Please check if this fixes your meshes and report back.
2 person testemonied that it didn't work for them.

Honestly if I was Bioware I'd take my sweet time. People flooded the forums for 3 weeks complaining about problems demanding it be fixed right meow!!!! Then a patch comes out and guess what, like most patches it fixed something but broke something else(seriously it's like all these people have never played WoW or any other game that had patches).
Then they come here acting like they know better than actual devs because reasons. I seriously do not know how Bioware handles this crap. If it were me I'd just be like "FU people it'll get fixed when it gets fixed and the more you cry and threaten the longer it takes" Seriously when my kids act like that they get smacked.
Every "gamer" should be aware that patches sometimes break things. Setting the forums on fire because of this is childish. and yes some of the posts are normal. A majority of them however haven't been.
Everyone knows that, but it's like they didn't even start the game once with the patch. I started the game and it immediately saw that something must be wrong now. The new bugs jump into your face and bite you into your nose. Come on don't defend that crap.

Personally I'd wait if you can. Like you, I had zero bugs before the patch in over 100 hours played. And now have stuttering on top of the graphics issue. Did not test much further. But had I known I would certainly not have installed it.

Well I like it. For me, the hair looks awesome (what I have seen so far). Also, is the Tac Cam a little slicker or is that my imagination?
