muh freckles. My Inquisitor had freckles and now he does not.   A truly minor complaint but also ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT RIGHT NOW. Also, hair's so shiny, but I don't care as much.

I just bought a gamepad to deal with the shitty KBM controls! I didn't need this patch! Woe is me. [/tiniestviolin]

from me.

There's more DoF in that little shot than is in the whole game now!

After my initial "god the shiny hair!" shut down of the game, reading here about the other issues made me re-open it and try some things.

Shiny hair, stubble/shadow is gone. He seems a younger somehow (missing wrinkles?).
Also, yes Scout Harding's freckles are gone and ice looks plain and painted now.

borkPatch1sml.jpg

Meshes seem to be all over the place. Some look better, some look worse. The hair problem is on pretty much all characters, though bright hair colors show it less. Cullen's hair looks more defined though but still has shine. That is somehow very funny ;) Curly got some special love.

My settings are a mix between medium and high. Practically everything character related was on high, terrain on medium.

This really takes the fun away from playing :( I want that shiny hair gone and my old skin back!

Not to denigrate your character in any way; you would fit perfectly into Dishonored!

Think im gonna hold off patching my game, (nice they give me the option NOT to patch the game). I havnt really had any trouble during my 100+ hr play through so far, no crashes, the occasional glitch and annoyance, but pretty damn awesome really. The only thing in the patch i really like is the ability to finnaly disable the tactical camera from the scroll wheel, i really hate that thing.

Everyone knows that, but it's like they didn't even start the game once with the patch. I started the game and it immediately saw that something must be wrong now. The new bugs jump into your face and bite you into your nose. Come on don't defend that crap.

I agree, I had no problems prior to the patch, I hate forced patches. But I'm not going to come into the forums and start making death threats and refund cries. I used to dev for WoW private servers, I know that sometime when I fixed something other things got broken. It happens.

This patch is a major disappointment. BioWare you had 3 weeks and this is all you could manage? I realize there are more patches to come, but this? I struggle to even find any gameplay improvements unless you wanna talk about the Sonar Loot-Finder minigame that is now such a full fledged feature that you can find yourself looking more on the minimap pings than on the actual environment. Way to shoot yourself in the foot BioWare.

Where are the basic corrections of the bugs that you even admitted to yourself: The broken walk-toggle (the sprint key is there for a reason?) and the broken tactical camera that centers on the party member you click on so you constantly have to reposition the camera?

And then we have the shiny glossy hair now ... any QA awake at BioWare at all???

OK, a repost might not be strictly inside the forum rules here, but for newcomers:

  • The game no longer uses the graphic settings you've set in the in-game options, and defaults to low settings
  • The patch removed no files, so the high quality meshes and textures are still there, they're just not being used
  • Yes, having all settings on low will make the game, and the effects, look rather ugly
  • Changing the in-game graphic settings still changes the ProfileOptions_profile file in your save folder
  • The save games in your save folder are still being found, and can be loaded, by the patched game
  • The above two bullet points mean that the game still knows where to look for save games and graphics settings

So, seeing as the game knows where to find the configuration settings (and save games), it's not a general pathing error. I suspect it either can't find the high quality meshes and textures, they don't load correctly, or the game no longer knows how to interpret the settings in the ProfileOptions_profile file. Either way, the most likely scenario is that we'll need an updated DragonAgeInquisition.exe-file. That could take a while to compile and release.

The other, more attractive (but unfortunately more unlikely) scenario is that there's a spelling error in a config file somewhere that makes the game not find the ProfileOptions_profile-file - I find this unlikely since changing the in-game graphics options still changes this file.

If that's the case, it sounds like an easy fix, but it should never have been released into the wild.

Bug fixes generally don't work rectroactively to fix games where the effects of the bug have already taken place. The bug fix just means that it won't occur in the future.

The thing is i have seen people saying it get fixed for them

A legitimate question, not ironic: when did a mod ever say to stop using twitter?

He didn't. He actually said specifically to keep sending bug reports to Twitter among other methods. His request was to not inundate the forums and Twitter feed with complaints that didn't actually provide any helpful input.

No, it means the exact opposite. The game still finds your save files.

Thanks.

i wish i hadn't updated my game, oh dear the graphics went really shiny and bad, so far thats my only issue, but i have only been playing about 10 minutes since the game updated to this new patch, i hope this gets sorted pretty soon, also the game main menu did not show my saves when i first loaded the game up, but i just went to load game and my saves were there, just no contine game option, anyway i will try to play as best i can for now til a fix is out for this mess

Great job Bioware, now after this patch my game crashes every 10 minutes. Now what? Do i have to wait 3 months to play again?. And looks like I'm not the only one with the same issues...

So this new patch is quite terrifying for me since I didn't have any problems before it. I haven't played since last night and it's not yet installed. Is there a safe way to avoid installing it altogether?

Don't install!  Do Not Install patch!  Abort!  Abort!

PC games are often played by PC gamers using controllers on their PC.

I'm a PC gamer and never used a controller to play a PC game in my 20 years of PC gaming...

Still cant bind mouse 4 and mouse 5 buttons.

Tac cam still jumps to party members when selecting them (at least add a toggle to disable it).

I would also like to see some animations sped up a lot, like turning and start/stop movement animations. They are just too slow atm and make movement feel sluggish.

Seriously. HOW DOES THIS PAST QA?

Surely someone was playing on max?

Consoles don't have graphics options, so probably not.
