Wait if I reinstall I can avoid this patch?

Cause I will do that.

If you have a hard copy of the game and install offline you should be ok... but if you bought the digital version from Origin, then no - it will install with the new patch

This update is unnaceptable. How can I remove this ****??? The textures in Castle looks like Unreal Engine 1 as Clive baker's Undiying when I was on balcony...

I believe you have to delete the game (not saves of course) and then re-install and disable auto-update from origin. You cant use any saves made with this current patch though.

People complain that the patch is taking too long to come out. Then when it does come out, they complain that it didn't get enough QA and some new things are broken.

This forum really is an utter cesspool. I don't blame devs at all for avoiding this place like the plague. If it were up to me, I'd burn it to the ground.

This isn't how software dev is "supposed" to work in these scenarios. Bioware had full control over the timing and scope of the patch contents (i.e., no one outside the company could force them to include or exclude anything that might have been game breaking, etc - they had autonomy). As such, we should expect that proper regression testing was done to ensure the fixes in the patch didn't break anything (*) else.

(*) Clearly regressing -everything- in a game this big is tough. Hopefully there's some automation as they couldn't have manually done 100s or 1000s of playthroughs in the time allowed. That said, things like graphics being locked on low for PC are immediately obvious (or we wouldn't already have 60+ pages of feedback) vs. e.g., only becoming apparent after 100s of hours of gameplay and thus should be caught quickly/early with a reasonable test matrix.

I installed the patch and loaded my save. I was in Skyhold, checked if Dorian's quest is still bugged. And yes, of course it's still bugged and hasn't been fixed. I went to talk to Leliana, I can't skip her dialogue, no subtitles appear and the dialogue wheel doesn't appear. Went to talk to Josephine, cutscenes triggers - and the game freezes and crashes during the cutscene. I didn't even leave Skyhold and the game crashed already. What a wonderful patch. Guess I won't be playing this game for a while. This is the last Bioware game I bought at launch. Ridiculous.

On the upside, Bioware did just successfully port Oblivion into the Frostbite engine.

I doubt it, but I'm trying it right now just to make sure I've exhausted all avenues.

Don't do this. All you're doing is redownloading 30 GB for nothing. The patch gets applied during the download/install process, there is no way to stop that from happening. Origin always puts you on the latest version automatically.

This is exactly what I'm trying. If it works, I will let you guys know. Don't hold your breath though.

Well a disappointing patch, no fixes to the awful controls for PC (that i can see) and potentially weeks before the next patch comes out.

I love this game, but the controls are just so bad for PC. I have friends that i really want to get into the game, but only the ones who have played the first and second and love the story have progressed passed 3 hours, the rest have given up in disgust at the controls, and are mad at me for reccomending the game.

Please make PC controls optimization a priority guys, its just not good enough, especially after all the lead up of "Made by PC gamers, For PC gamers". Remember that this game was origionally just for PC and you have so many loyal followers who are PC players. The game itself is good in so many ways, but fighting against the controls just makes it so much tougher to enjoy.

I KNEW buying a hard copy was a good idea!  Physical release collectors master race!

I know what I'm doing!

Wait a minute. I just got a look at my drives and...either I deleted a huge chunk of date from my SSD or 4gigs appeared out of thin air. I'm pretty sure there was less space left before the patch. Anyone can take a look and make sure the patch didn't actually delete the higher textures?

I checked, and I remember the folder containing the game being aroud 30 GB, now is 25GB. Could be my memory at fault though.

What? All the .cas-files are still there - I double-checked that. I believe all the meshes and textures are compressed inside the 21 cas-files.

I don't remember what my free space was before the patch, so I can't check myself, but I think everything's still there.

@fingerboxes, since for some reason my "quote" button isn't working.  I've got decades of muscle memory for k/m control.  At 58 and a bit, my reflexes are NOT what they used to be and being forced to use a controller (I've got a 360 one around here somewhere, I did TRY) is a deal breaker in whether or not I'm going to buy a game.   I also have some issues that make using a controller for any length of time pretty painful.  If it comes down to it in the future, I guess I'll just be playing the older games that didn't try and shoehorn PC players in with the consoles.

I think that you missed the point of that little side-conversation. Nobody is trying to suggest that PC gamers should all switch to using controllers, instead, we are pointing out that some of us do prefer using controllers, and using a KB&M is not a defining attribute of being a 'PC gamer'.

Bioware would do good to ignore this thread now. The amount of useful feedback approaches zero here.

But at any rate, can anyone tell me the state of Battlefield 4 right now? It is the only other Frostbite 3 game that is out, right? I heard that the game was drowning in bugs in the beginning, now I dunno (Just thinking is it the engine that is bad, or Bioware programming team).

Good question. Any answers?

The radar thing was nice but then I went into a cinematic with Sera , and wait...something is not RIGHT.

The new shiny hair , fine.I can deal with.

My character having a different skin and his scars disappearing , NOT cool...

Also the grass I saw in Skyhold looked suddenly awful.

Now I'm in the process of getting rid of this patch.

Well at least I've learned a lesson , never patch a game on realease day of the patch , let others do it and wait for results.

Can't say the patch does graphically anything worse. On PC and after the patch, e.g. the ice looks the same as before. Hair is a bit more shiny, blood is a bit more shiny.

Lucky you. My ice is a flat blue thingy with white cracks in it on high/ultra settings.

Feedback on Patch 2:

I have no cutscene crashes now it seems.

I had two conversation with Cassandra and a judgement in the Hall. There was only a slight sound scratching in a quater of a second when Josephine was talking, but it didn't crash.

- If this really is fixed I will bow and say many thanks. Now I can enjoy the cinematics in full.

Honestly if I was Bioware I'd take my sweet time. People flooded the forums for 3 weeks complaining about problems demanding it be fixed right meow!!!! Then a patch comes out and guess what, like most patches it fixed something but broke something else(seriously it's like all these people have never played WoW or any other game that had patches).

Then they come here acting like they know better than actual devs because reasons. I seriously do not know how Bioware handles this crap. If it were me I'd just be like "FU people it'll get fixed when it gets fixed and the more you cry and threaten the longer it takes" Seriously when my kids act like that they get smacked.

Every "gamer" should be aware that patches sometimes break things. Setting the forums on fire because of this is childish. and yes some of the posts are normal. A majority of them however haven't been.

Oh this is classic it's our fault that bioware didn't properly test this patch because we made demands of them and so they couldn't be bothered to do their jobs. I'm sorry but that's garbage at my job I don't get to blame the customer if I screw up because the rushing me it's my job to be able to overcome the fact that the rushing me and provide them with the desired service. Work the same way when I was in the military we didn't get to tell drill sergeant oh man we messed this up because you were rushing is drill this is your fault.

Mistakes happen things go wrong with patches all the time and that's okay as long as they're working to fix it but to try to pass the blame off on the people that were requesting in the past in the first place is BS.

If you have freezing issues at "Click to Continue" screen and afterwards, and if you have AMD Graphic Card,

do below:

Download "Catalyst Software Suite Omega" from AMD's official web site (for windows 7 64bit)

http://support.amd.c...=Windows 7 - 64

thats fixed my horrible problem and literally I can FINALLY play DAI without freezing, I hope this works for you too.

By the way: when you launch the AMD exe you downloaded: select everything except "AMD Gaming APP"

dunno whats that so  I didnt downloaded.

You dont have to restart your PC unless setup asks you

NOTE: Dont forget go offline on origin before launch the game

Welcome to Sonar Loot-Finder - great mini-game, yes? And you won't even have to look at the environment anymore. ;) And you gotta love the sound design that goes with it, right? I find myself humming a happy tune whenever I hear that pleasant sonar go PING in my headset. That's when I truly feel immersed in the fantastic world of Thedas.
