Holy butt cockles, I had to sign in just to reply to this.  First off they did do testing on the patch it would not have been released otherwise.  I for one have no issues, no graphics degredation no crashes.  If it works on their pc and works on mine the problem is usually the customers pc.  It can be any number of things. When a new patch comes out for any game you always make sure you have the latest graphics driver and sound drivers.  Aside from that make sure you have the latest .net installed with patches, this is important because the code in the game is done with libraries from .net and others.  A company cannot account for everyones pc and the drivers and other software they have that may conflict with the game. Thats on you to keep your pc straight.

Lmfao, this is rich. This is all common sense to anyone that's been playing games for longer than 5 minutes. There are waaaaaaaaay too many signs that this is an issue on biowares end.

And what do you know as I was typing this I just noticed they posted a workaround and are posting a hot fix so the problem is on there end.

I think I found a possible way to uninstall the patch

I found this post on Tumblr. When I get the chance I'll try it myself, but for everyone else seeking a solution here you go. Really hope this works, tell me if anyone gets any positive results.

Spoiler

Just want to mention that this worked for me. I recovered an old version from this morning before the patch. Weirdly after doing this, I also get music in the field for the first time, lol. Also had some banter. Sera/Bull banter is the best.

It's good to know that a hot fix is in the works.

To counterbalance all the graphical worries and complaints, I have to thank Bioware for the changes to searching - it is a million times better, after the patch. No longer do just hear a ping, and run around in circles trying to locate it, now I hear a ping, check it on the radar, and find it right away. :wizard:

Can you give a more clear example of how to do this. ie - ...exe"-shader system....

Do we add a space after the exe", do we remove the ", is there a space between level and the word ultra?

I'm not able to get it to work

If you use the "Game Properties" variant, put this in for High as example:

-ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

No quotation marks no nothing.

Does the hotfix do anything about the Post Process and other graphical issues that were broken.
its not like it was just the mesh right.

I'm not able to get it to work

When you are adding "-ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quaklity level>" you do need a spacce. So for Ultra, you would need to add: "-ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra"
You also need to go into Options>Graphics and make sure that your mesh settings are likewise set to Ultra (or that they match whatever setting you added to the command line).
Also, once the hot fix has been put in place, you will need to go back into the command line and remove this addition.

Hey Everyone,

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

Through Origin:

  1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
  2. Go to game properties
  3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Through shortcut:

  1. Right Click Shortcut
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • Ultra
  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.

To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.

Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

TOP F'ING KEK. I KNEW IT.

I already knew exactly what went wrong with the patch. Shaders!

Yeah, would have thought the community manager would do the posting.

If it was a shader issue maybe. If it was due to skin tone then no

This is a sentiment that has been expressed ad infinitum. It unfortunately suffered from some of the same problems that it seems DA2 and now DAI are suffering from. Released before it was ready... Still, it is one of the best games I've ever played and continue to invest time in.

It is hyperbole when those hundreds of people choose to express their disappointment in the fashion displayed by many in this thread, friend.

You mean, by not going into paroxysms of joy and gratitude for a patch that broke a game we all paid money for? The reaction seems warranted and understandable, "friend".

Nope, the candles look fine. The fire is overally really beautiful, but I might be under the impression now ... I'm not sure if the shadows were not fixed as well.
