While I appreciate that patching a game like Inquisition is - as Mark Darrah tweeted - incredibly complex, there is one thing I find really difficult to understand. Perhaps someone with some programming knowledge can offer some insight.
The walk bind key on keyboard/mouse - I know it is not in the same league as bug fixes etc for most people, and that's fair enough, although personally I would tolerate a rather high number of bugs and clunky controls if my chosen input method was given the same care as the others. So, my question, why is adding a walk bind key to the keyboard interface something that had to wait until next time (or the time after, or whenever, I guess)? The ability and animation exists within the PC version, we know, as PC/controller users can walk. Was the 'clean up' of the UI really necessary to be implemented before this addition was made?
Again - I'm not a programmer, but this seems, to my plodding logic, like a fairly low cost addition. Giving a key bind to something already in the game and working.
Does anyone have any insight as to what I am missing? Or do I have it more or less right, and they are patching in a 'process' so, irrespective of how easy/hard something is, things get sorted in the correct "order"?

What about
Is this really due to shader quality mismatch or something else?

People complain that the patch is taking too long to come out. Then when it does come out, they complain that it didn't get enough QA and some new things are broken.
This forum really is an utter cesspool. I don't blame devs at all for avoiding this place like the plague. If it were up to me, I'd burn it to the ground.
Yeah, I'm with you. Bioware shouldn't even bother making new video games developed on console platform to later be forced into this awful job of trying to port them to PC. IMHO, I don't think it worth the effort. It's obvious, to me, they will always have to make major patches (using a console platform) and then try to badly port them to PC. Especially now, knowing they seemingly don't have one person to test the patches before release them. Why would they like to keep making video games for PC gamers in the future? I don't know.

Id cut them some slack if they improved on a fair few things including communication and transparency. So far they've yet to own up to the **** up they created. WHne I **** something up I say "Well I fucked this up!" and tell whoever would be a victim. So far all we've heard is 'Go to twitter!' and thats it.
Im sorry but BioWare had most of the hate coming. They didnt fix what a lot og PC gamers wanted fixed (better ui+controls) and on top of that broke even more.
You're somewhat the victim, since you're throwing the word around so casually
, of timing in that Conal replied prior to you hitting send, but I'm sure you're mollified now, no?
As to twitter, it's not my cup of tea either, but as long as long as it makes it here I don't really care so much about the initial mode of communication. *shrug*
The last bit about pc ui/controls - my understanding is that's something being worked on for the next patch. As a pc gamer myself, I'm looking forward to what they'll come up with.

I can report that the work around has successfully banished the hair gel back into the void! (That is to say it works to at least remove the shiny hair problem) ![]()

This patch has endangered my life. I made my character based on my girlfriend, so I could capture video and show her a movie with herself as the star. It was a fairly good likeness with her slightly freckly complexion. The patch downloaded this morning and she now has deep wrinkles and looks 90. If she sees any of the captures I did today, I am DEAD. Reverse it please, so I can go back to the savegame from pre-patch and continue. For the love of humanity!

I sure hope so, since, with the non existent mod support, we are pretty much stuck with what BW can come up with...

Mark actually said they ran into problems with it, so I assume it was something that they just couldn't get done on time. The walk bind key on keyboard/mouse - I know it is not in the same league as bug fixes etc for most people, and that's fair enough, although personally I would tolerate a rather high number of bugs and clunky controls if my chosen input method was given the same care as the others. I appreciate that it seems like it would be easy to do, but there were obviously unforeseen consequences that they needed to deal with.
Unfortunately, the fix is not retroactive.Am i the only one that didnt get the char voice fixed? I dont care about the graphics part that much
If you were already affected by the bug, it seems your voice has been permanently changed.
The fix will only prevent it from happening again in the future.

Okay, I know I'm being particularly dense right now, but WHAT is the command line parameter we're supposed to type? I probably know this but my data retrieval system is not cooperating tonight.

At least there is a work around, hopefully though they get the hotfix quickly and hopefully this never happens again, I can understand patches sometimes break stuff. It happens to many companies, but when something as broken as this passes through QA it is alarming.

Post-Patch and with "-ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra" - looks about same to me. Contextual Hud doesn't seem to work ![]()

It took me a minute too. You type this:
-ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra
Replace Ultra with whichever graphics level you're on.

Ultimately it's a temporary workaround; it will get your game to use the correct shader quality. Just make sure you use the correct setting (that it matches your ingame settings); yoiu shouldn't have to reduce anything.

My appologies, the workaround does fix the fire on candles. I misread the instruction for the command line. I accidentaly wrote Ultra between <>. There was no need for <>
