Quick question because I am afraid: How would one go about removing this command line argument once it is installed?

Well, I thought I was being smart stopping the patch.  But now I am unable to start the game, because Origin says I have to update first.  I really do not want THIS update, as it seems to cause more problems than it fixes.  I set Origins to "Go Offline", but it is still requiring me to Update before I can start the game.  On a PC, can anyone help?

It's the engine. Frostbite 3 is a heap of trash for PC. It was designed for consoles as the primary focus.

Hell, the game would have probably been better off with Cryengine 3  .

Its so pretty though =/

The biggest trap in the instructions is to ensure that Mesh Quality matches the manual command line setting, as that may not necessarily be the case and definitely didn't happen when I selected "Automatic" within the Graphics Options - ie you may need to go in and change this yourself in the game, exit and *then* do the Command Line workaround.

I'm assuming people have read the instructions carefully and don't want to appear patronising, however it's only appropriate (and far more productive) to consider solutions over negative ad hominems.

That and also Drivers, as SSV Enterprise very helpfully pointed out - I'm even updating my Sound Card, which I didn't realise was out of date by several years, just in case.

You know, that's a good point.  I didn't think to update my audio drivers, as graphics drivers are where all the performance goodies come from, but keeping the audio drivers updated could help with compatibility.  I'll be sure to do that.

Yes it works! For anyone making a new character in ultra settings, use the workaround otherwise the complexions won't show properly.  Spent a few hours remaking my Qunari but he looks like an old man now. @_@ *lucky that I have sliders documented at least*

it's too late. Should have waited to install before jumping in if you weren't sure about it.

Why they changed Inquisitor's outfit from the beginning of the game? Not that I'm complaining or something. Just curious.

It's the wrong outfit.

It seems to default to the thief outfit now regardless of class, and when you get to the bridge that gets destroyed (where you fall and get a weapon and fight the shades), you magically change into the class-appropriate armor during the cutscene.

It is probably low quality shader reacting to lighting.

Or another bug of hilarity.

Yes. Just run Origin in offline mode.

...except I have to open Origin to go into offline mode.

And when I open Origin it will autostart the patch.

I'm sorry, but what?

During this whole conversation, I could pause the animation with the Radial Menu and the dialogue sound would stop but the animation would continue.

Well... I have this vicarious scenario if you would be so kind as to indulge while you have the chance? C-Could you try to throw a jar of bees at Father Roderick mid-conversation?... Or anyone else.

That's very odd because I always used to get the mercenary coat to begin with whether I was a rogue or mage.

Was I bugged?

Well 2 things:

- I do not have Jar of Bees at this point in the game

- I cannot actually select anything in the Radial Menu... except the conversational choices.

disabling auto-patch in Origins

click on "Origin" in top left corner of the application

click on "Application settings"

Under general settings go down to Updates

uncheck  "automatically keep my games up to date"

when an update is available you will see a triangle at the top right corner of the game as a reminder to update.

True, but when the game development began I'm not so sure if they were around during that time. How long was DAI's dev cycle?

You mean you got this thief armor (I don't know what they're all called, sorry) when starting as a mage?

I always got the mage armor when starting a new game as a mage, but with Patch 2, I started a new game and got the thief armor (as noted, it magically morphed into mage armor at the bridge). It's the first time I've ever seen this.

Bit off-topic, but underrated by whom? Reviewers loved this game and any person who's played it even the slightest bit has their mouth inseparably glued to the game's dick.

*neck* Right... You meant "...glued to the game's neck." :D *laughs*

It says u need the patch. klick yes "update". PAUSE the download when it starts.

Now you should be able to play without the patch like me :)

Again, I state that the easiest fix to this problem for people such as myself who haven't updated yet is for Bioware/EA to pull the freaking patch until the fix is done. How hard is that?

4 years according to Bioware itself. As for actual development (programming) I'd say a fraction of that. Frostbite 3 also wasn't around 4 years ago.

Nor was Frostbite 2 (first game to use that was BF3, in 2011).

Sorry guys, i cannot share your negative thoughts on the patch. For the first time i was able to play 7 hours straight without a single crash!
I honestly think that Bioware have done well and the patch is doing a good job!

Sure, the graphics are somewhat.. reduced, but the shiny hair thing isn't so bad! I take from that, that this patch is meant to be a temporary solution. My guess would be that there is a major game update on its way, perhaps in March or April?
