There is also a way to get rid of Origin for good, but I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it in this forum.

Hello,
While the workaround seems to have done the job, and graphics are apparently back to normal, there's one minor* problem since the patch hit. I can play the game, so luckily for me I don't have that problem with drm or whatnot, but since patch when I open the game it says "dragon age server not available" so I can only play "offline". Meaning I can't for example use the keep or multiplayer. Is that problem related to the drm problem some people are experiencing? Sigh. No problem for 271 hours and now a broken patch ruins it
It's very frustrating. Oh well, waiting on a hotfix type of thing before playing again. ![]()
Cheers.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for the patch! I really appreciate you guys working hard on it! Also thanks for the PC graphics work around.
If someone have directx crashes and have NVIDIA card switch back to old 340 drivers that will fix problem ![]()
For all those who found their game broken, like myself, I devised a way to roll back to a pre-patch state.
It worked for me, and I hope I can help someone.
Its an issue with the licensing server
It is DRM. Its not actually biowares fault but the Origin Server. I went through an Origin log before the patch & after. It seems the game is being denied access to the digital licensing server.
It seems to be working for a lot of us now.
'bout dat shiny hair doe... ![]()
Comments to the command line workaround:
Itsorta works but not 100% on non-HighEnd PCs I guess?
I'm running the game with a mix of High and Medium settings. Pre patch I had relatively stable FPS. Post patch I have some stuttering.
If I add the command line -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High (high to match the meshes, cause anything below will result in shiny hair), the stuttering gets extremely worse. But the shiny hair is gone. Everything looks better, in fact. But it's too much for my hamster-powered rig.
So yes, this is a workaround, but only temporarily. Pre patch I could run with the same settings (minus the shader command line), no shiny hair, scars and complexions were there and it didn't stutter. Now it's just a mess ![]()
If the patch lowered the graphics, why did it also lower the framerate for many people too?

Consistency.
so this never happen to me before the patch but now I cannot even start the game because of EA Servers...
I had the same problem at beginning. Repaired the game and disabled the firewall and then it worked. I don't know which of the two made it work, though.
P.S: Now that I remember I also opened the account in the website of Origin (that goes to EA) to be sure the account was accepted there (even removed the security code, to be sure). I don't know which of the tree things (or a mix of them) was the one that resolved the issue but try to do all of them and see if it works for you too. It it does then this is probably a solution. I know for sure that I could enter the game after doing them.
Just wanted to chime in here and say that the post-patch workaround for the graphics issues worked fine for me (so far). My elf looks young again and all is right with the world. Thanks Bio folks
...oh, and thanks for fixing "a present for Bianca" as well. That was bugging my Inquisition-related OCD.
Can play now but apparently post patch has applied new issues I did not have before:
1) Stuttering and flickering terrain
2) Banter is broken, heard the same conversation between varric and solas on how Varric fought Corypheus three times now, are they suffering from dementia?
3) This patch increased the frequency with which DirectX Hung Device errors occurs, I am assuming that was not the plan
Hurray i am not alone :-D
*raises hand*
Hurray i am not alone :-D
See above.
I just made a rogue and got the merc outfit.
Getting anything else is probably a bug.
My game was perfect, 40 to 60fps, at ultra config . Now with the update it keeps freezing over and over, even at low config . There's no how to play the game like this.
Not the only one, since the patch along with the graphic issues, I've noticed my load times are a lot longer and my game will freeze during gameplay too, much like when games used to freeze to load the next part of the area without a loading screen before continuing but that never happened before the patch. Right now I'd rather have an option to roll back the patch, at least then I could play the game without the constant freeze every few minutes.

Like this?
ar u have Nvidia gc? if so, then it's a common problem.
This is getting silly, the only banter I have is Solas and Varric having a discussion on corypheus, the same one, for the seventh time now
Did this happen before you performed the workaround, or did it only start happening afterward?Oh god combat. There's such a steep framerate drop in combat it's unplayable now.
Let us roll back this patch please! It clearly wasn't ready to be released.

I'd have to check. I only had like 2 fights pre workaround and I didn't notice any severe dips then.

Mind the SPOILERS please. Not all people applying the patch would have reached the same point in the game
I may be a bit late to the party here, but is there a fix for the shiny hair? Pre-patch I fixed it my turning mesh quality or whatever it was to high, now it appears that doesnt work. Dont know how they managed to f*** up this badly, because now it looks even shinier than it did before.
I mean its blinding. My inquisitor could stop traffic ![]()
Also, I'm going to have to create a new character because my warrior had a post-patch makeover where she had a different hair colour and looked 900 years old. Would post a pic, but its far too tragic
And I deleted the save files in anger. After a reinstall. Before realising origin auto-patches. *Sigh*. I was attached to that character, too. First decent looking FemInquisitor I ever made haha.
Seriously, I have to laugh at how much they dropped the ball here. I originally had the PS3 version on launch. Took that back to EB Games (Australias version of gamestop, same sorta thing), argued with them until I got the PC version instead, because at least it didn't have missing textures. And now this? Patches are never perfect, but what in the world happened?
Maybe this should be a lesson for most of us, don't pre-order games for launch. *facepalm*
Also, as many people have reported, my game was fine until I patched. Now it stutters and pop ins are ridiculous.
