i left clicked on shortcut & added parameter in the end of "C:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" in properties (but nothing changed) Target "C:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" parameter, & after that i right clicked on DAI shortcut & i got straight in game & changing setting in game still had no effect, seems it does not work for me

i also tried "C:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting> & result same

by default after installing the game all settings were medium Mesh i swished to high to get rid off plastic hair, i did it after installation when i got in first time, so even it it would worked changing all to high to get mesh high mite not be good, unless it gives option to change each settings like in game

did you wrote the quality settings in <>?

I am really angry and upset over this mess of a patch. The game performance has become worse since after applying the patch, and going by the thousands of posts above, clearly its not about the player's PC configurations or the drivers or the visual runtimes...indeed the game ran smooth before the patch. Now I am stuck with painfully long loading times, even more stutters, freezes, and sluggishness overall. Simply non-acceptable.

Then there is the issue of lowering the overall texture quality, which even though has been remedied by the band-aid solution for the time being, begs the question HOW on earth this patch was green signalled to start with. I mean, we aren't talking about some upstart game developers here. And this happening right after few days of receiving the 'Game of the Year Award' is just downright embarrassing (and even then many think EA 'bought' the award).

Seriously, why the QA so incompetent and is there no one in the higher management who has a check on these sorts of things?

At this stage, letting players remove this (non) patch and restore the previous game version would be effectively a "performance improvement" solution.

Having huge stutter issues that only appeared post patch, even with the workaround, hope the hotfix comes soon as right now it's unplayable for me.

did you wrote the quality settings in <>?

Also, just checking, did you type in the word 'parameter' ? Because you're not supposed to.

Edit: This is to Sugram :)

@Ex-Paladin - have you tried the workaround? That fixed the scar issue for me.

I read it and I tried, but I'm too dumb to figure how to do it  I get to the part for going into the game properties (using Origin) and then I get stuck

You aren't dumb, it's a pain in the arse for anyone who isn't used to fiddling about with computers :)

What is your Mesh quality setting on at the moment (in your graphics options)? What setting was it on pre-patch?

Edit: SemiOldCRPGs advice (2 posts below) is good. Look on page 84 and it will show you exactly what you need to do.

Right click your desktop shortcut, select properties and than simply copy paste this into target window at the end of the shortcut link:

 -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra

Your link in target window should look like this after you are done:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra

After that simply click on the shortcut icon on desktop and voila game is running without any graphic issiues that the patch intruduced. Be carefull about the spaces in the example link i posted becuase they are needed for it to work.

Edit.

Nevermind,  just did the command promt change and it fixed my characters apperance. Tho the game still feels abit choppy (lag stutter here and there).

"do not make any new savefiles".

I got multi saves from before patch 2, and a new save with buggy patch. Will folder restore still work?.

Yes, the only problem is that newer savefiles will not load once you've rolled back the game, so you may end up losing a few hours of gameplay - it happened to me. So if your game is lagging and you're thinking of goig back it's just best not to save.

ok you have to write

-ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel high

replace high with the quality setting you had ingame before patching (if it was not high), or the mesh quality you had.

Terrible. I'll be playing FFX in the meantime.

Good idea. The time I've done every single thing in that game they might be halfway done with the hotfixes. Shots fired.  :police:

The only post-patch issue I seem to have with my version on PC is the shiny hair, which admittedly is a bit distracting. Apart from that is didn't seem to affect performance at all. I will try the workaround suggested by Conal Pierse, yet I imagine the hotfix should come relatively soon. I should also point out that while my game crashed owing to some DirectX issues, it happened only four times in 80 hours so far of gameplay, so it's not too bad. I have had Divinity crash to the desktop more often that that about 30 hours of gameplay. Of course people are a bit more forgiving of the latter, because they are an indie developer, but you can't really compare the scope of the two games. Yet Bethesda titles, namely ES and Fallout are notoriously buggy; nevertheless, you don't see nearly as much hate in the forums as you see here, and it is slightly unfair to Bioware.

Despite of the bugs, I am really enjoying the game, and I hope Bioware will continue to release this games in PC, as I am an exclusive PC gamer and I have been playing their games since the first Baldur's gate, and I really love their work. I fully support fellow gamers who point out that stuff doesn't really work properly, but if I was someone from Bioware, after all of the crap some of the PC community put them through, especially since DAII, I would be tempted to say "screw this" and produce titles for the much larger console community. I feel that we, through some of the diatribe we put in the forums, come accross as entitled little brats and this is clearly counter-productive. For my part, thanks Bioware, your games are awesome and this one is most excellent.

Okay, sorry for the stupid basic questions which you've probably already done anyway - but are you running any background programs (Origin/Steam overlays, MSI afterburner, Riva Tuner, things like that?) It seems that background stuff can interfere with the running of the game.

Both you and Sugram - are you sure you applied the workaround correctly? Like, leaving a space after the last quotation mark after .exe". Again, I apologise if this comes off as patronising, I'm just trying to help :)

So C:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel Ultra

Also, they made a mistake Hollerboller mate. It happens, we're all people, no matter our jobs, and none of us are flawless, and no-one should be fired here. It sucks that the patch has broken things for people, but they're doing their best to fix it.

@Ex-Paladin - have you tried the workaround? That fixed the scar issue for me.

No background programs other than origin, and yes the workaround was applied correctly. As i said no problems at all before the patch with the same system settings. GTX 780 3GB, 16GB Ram, game on an ssd.

And i agree, none of us is flawless, but again, the performance they showed us with this patch, release it like that, is a no go and there is simply no excuse for this and i had lost my job.

That dont mean i wish them to get fired, dont get me wrong.

For me it looks like they have simply no qa for pc and if they have, how could that patch pass qa? I mean you have to simply fire up the game on ultra settings and load a save and you see, ups there is something wrong, we can't release the patch.

So yeah, there is no thanks from me for bioware because they made a terrible job in the first place with this patch.

Sorry for my bad english

Do as in the picture below:
http://imgur.com/a/U6iMf

Then boot up your game and change graphic setting "Mesh" to Ultra.

The "Ultra" part can be changed to Low, Medium or High if you prefer, just remember to change the command prompt aswell.

Yeah, PC must be an absolute bugger to make games for, especially when you're also making the same game for other platforms too. So many different hardware/software combos that QA is probably just horrible. Consoles must be a piece of cake in comparison. Like you say, even games like Divinity that are single-platform PC have issues. A broken game isn't fun at all for players, but I feel for devs who have to work out why something is happening (especially if it isn't happening to them) and then fix it, even though the fix itself can cause other problems for other players. Nightmare!

Sugram - No, don't delete it. Only delete it when they release the actual hotfix.
