I dont want to update my game, because of all horror stories I have been reading (kind of had a feeling it would be like this too).  So I diabled auto update and clicked play, but now it says I have to update to play?  Since when is a update forced on me me?  Any work around would be appreciated.

These have happpened in my playthroughs since launch.  The fourth companion in a party always seems to drop from the sky when I load into an area.  And loading screens still are long for a new area.

For me too, some of this are there since before the patch, but after it I continue seeing them. I think they want to know as much information as we can give them, so I made a compilation.

Odd, offline mode works for me

Maybe I'm just horrendously unlucky then :P I'll try to work around it tomorrow. I'm glad some people are getting it to work.

I can just see the rest of us having to wait another 3 weeks for a patch. Or worse, this never actually gets fixed properly and we're all screwed :P It wouldn't surprise me, tbh. This game (on old gen and PC, atleast) was not in a state fit for public release.

What I can't understand is not being able to rollback

Are there any more people saying that BioWare did better than Ubisoft? Not only DA:I was botched, broken at the release, but patch made it even worse. Now male elves don't only have broken and glued arms but also shiny hair.

Game Of The Year? I agree, no game this year, at least no AAA game achieved such lows. Is DA:I a prequel to 'Deep Down'?

Thinking about it, it might be because I'm just not installing new patch, whereas you've rolled back to the release version and are thus missing day 1 patch?

Being playing for an hour now, game actually runs a lot smoother then it used to. The only problem I encountered was already mentioned <ContextMenuAlt> thingy, instead of ctrl. Still think it looks a wee bit different, but maybe that's just my eyes playing tricks on me, since I expect it to.

Like this?

ar u have Nvidia gc? if so, then it's a common problem.

Yep that's exactly what my game does, but I have an AMD R9 so apparently it's not just an Nvidia issue.

So how come it takes so long to get a quick hotfix out? is it bureaucracy? I'm leaning towards something to do with the Denuvo anti crack drm thing, as it seems rather complex.

People are saying this game is unplayable, but in reality this game is no where as bad as Assassins Creed 4.  That was truly a broken game!  Played it a month after release , plenty of time for a patch, get 40 hours in than my playthrough for last 15 hours erased.  Played again, this time nothing saved an got a further 10 hours deleted.  I wasnt the only one either, I'd say AT LEAST 40% of pc players had this issue.  Quit playing for 3 months, came back and save option still not fixed.  And sad thing is that game got good reviews.

used mantle the whole time, so dont know about directx, but patch+mantle+the new omega driver gives me a big performance boost (using no fps counter so cant tell exact numbers, but its visible)

Then you are lucky, my performance is way worse using direct x (path 2 + workaround + omega driver)

I can report that I also had the "shiny hair" glitch.  Using the command line workaround fixed the issue for me though.  As for performance, I ran some benchmarks before and after the patch.

Before updating, I disconnected my PC's internet connection and ran a couple custom benchmarks.  The first was walking from the fast travel point in Redcliffe to the door of the chantry.  The second was walking from the fast travel point in Haven to the war room door inside the chantry.  In case an internet connection does cause a variance in performance, when I reran the benchmark after installing the patch, I once again disconnected my PC from the internet.  Game settings are 1080p, 60 Hz refresh rate, all max except no MSAA, and V-sync.  Now, I did run the post-patch benchmarks before finding out about the hair quality glitch and the command line workaround.  I intend on rerunning the benchmarks either with the hotfix or the command line workaround (can't right now though, I'm at work).

My hardware is a Intel Core i5-2500K at 4 GHz, 2 GB Radeon R9 270X set to 1120 MHz core clock, 1400 MHz memory clock, 8 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 system RAM, fully raised thermal limit,, all set with the Catalyst Control Center.  Graphics drivers are the latest 14.12 WHQL drivers. Benchmarked using Fraps.

 Pre-patch:
 Redcliffe:  Min 28, Max 61, Average 37.701
 Haven: Min 36, Max 62, Average 50.98

 Post-patch:
 Redcliffe: Min 26, Max 61, Average 39.155
 Haven: Min 32, Max 62, Average 49.55

Redcliffe saw a significant increase, but Haven saw a slight decrease.  Both minimums were down, but that could just be variances in the benchmark run as a gameplay benchmark like this is not perfectly 1-for-1.

Once done with those benchmarks, I reconnected to the internet and ran the in-game benchmark with the same settings.  For reference, my benchmark with the 14.12 drivers Tuesday morning before the patch was:

 Average 37.7, Minimum 28.4

 The post-patch benchmark was:

 Average 39.8, Minimum 31.1

So, in conclusion, the patch saw no major variance, positive or negative, in measureable performance on my system.  There might be a slight positive increase in performance as shown by the in-game benchmark, but it did not affect the custom benchmarks.  Subjectively, it felt like the hitching experienced when walking around, especially in Haven, was still present.  Walking around in Skyhold, which I did not benchmark, seemed to possibly have delayed pop in of characters more so than pre-patch, but that's just a subjective opinion.

Hyperbole much?  The game wasn't broken on release, in that "broken" is defined as "unplayable."  Technically, the game is still not broken because it IS playable.  Skyrim actually WAS unplayable for a few months after release, yet everyone's acting like this is the first time a game was released with, you know, bugs (which is normal for software).

That being said...QA allowing a patch that makes graphics WORSE is unacceptable.  The hair settings weren't a major issue before - I'm not sure why they felt the need to mess with that, specifically.  Given that the patch has an argument toward making the game unplayable, it wouldn't surprise me to see a few QA people looking for new jobs after this one.  This issue affects every PC user (I don't believe it affects consoles) - it had to pop up in testing.

If they don't have a hotfix for the patch out today, my guess is they'll have one by the end of the week.  The patch teams are going to be working 24/7 to get that dealt with, but it's not going to happen immediately like everyone seems to think it should.

Okay, found my solution for no update; at least worked for me.  Logged out of origin, clicked play, went back to origin and logged in.  Hopefully it isnt updating in back ground now.  Read this solution workes for some, but not others, weird.

Thanks, and yeah the graphic issues are one thing you can play with those, but when that happens every 2 minutes defiantly makes you want to just no bother until they patch it.

Getting worse FPS in Hinterlands now, 39 (from 45) at crossroads on Ultra with the following:

i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz
8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133mhz
6GB Nvidia GTX Titan Black
Samsung Evo 840 SSD.

Is it so hard to ask for a little optimization? Nvidia also needs to pump out some newer drivers to improve performance.

The stuttering as well as the load times have greatly improved since I applied this patch.  The stuttering that is left might be on my end; I'm going to have to mess with uninstalling/reinstalling my AMD drivers.  I've heard that Mantle is much better after this patch, if the drivers are doing alright.

I used the hotfix, and this fixed the hair problem on my PC, but there's something weird happening in the character creator.  I can no longer rotate my character, which means that I can't see things like eye spacing, jawline, etc. when I'm making the changes.  Is anyone else having this issue.

I do not use 'broken' as technically unplayable only. There are many factors that make game unplayable, starting from basic thing like mindset: you want to play male elf only and you get a model with broken and glued arms, botched in all dimensions. It is an RPG game, RP is and should be its main focus, if you can't get into story distracted by x y z then flashy effects won't save it. Not to mention that performance has dropped for some drastically: lags of biblical proportions. And then there is something affecting models; if a young female PC pre patch becomes a granny in patch 2 then I don't see how someone's playthrough is not broken.

QA should have received their own pair of inquisitors finding out who is responsible for shipping this game with so many bugs, including terrible models.

Still no fix for the M+K issues and tactical camera? Sorry Bio, not buying it before you fix your game ...
