I'd just like to say that before this patch I at least was able to play this game normally, despite low settings, enduring shiny hair and all that. (I'm a PC gamer).

After this patch I have (so far) come across these issues:

* I cannot summon my mount anymore, despite being out of combat and in an area where it should be summonable.

* The second I enter combat, ALL of my characters including my own seem to be running, but they aren't able to go anywhere. They stay in their spot while trying to go to the enemy they should kill. This means I can't run anywhere, not even to safety, or to come closer to put an AOE spell under their feet.

When the combat is over and my characters relax, I can run normally again with them all.

* The animals/critters in the game have the same issue as previously mentioned. They barely move forward while they appear to be running fast.

I hope that will be fixed very very quickly, because if this stays I suddenly can't play a game which I could before.

Sounds like you´ll need to reinstall the game couse somthing probably gone very wrong with the last update.

People are surprised Bioware is incompetent? Shouldve saved our money for Witcher 3.

You mean the the sequel to two games that both required multiple patches plus enhanced editions months after release to work properly? I'm all set, thanks. Though I'll no doubt pick it up after the EE for TW3 has been released ...

Also, as much as this sucked for players who can't enjoy the game because of bugs (and it did, and does), of course it was a mistake. Anyone who says this was something deliberate on Bioware's part is being a bit paranoid right now. Feedback on bugs, and expressing displeasure are both important parts of criticism. Saying things like Bioware did this on purpose? Not so much.

Hyperbole much?  The game wasn't broken on release, in that "broken" is defined as "unplayable."  Technically, the game is still not broken because it IS playable.  Skyrim actually WAS unplayable for a few months after release, yet everyone's acting like this is the first time a game was released with, you know, bugs (which is normal for software).

That being said...QA allowing a patch that makes graphics WORSE is unacceptable.  The hair settings weren't a major issue before - I'm not sure why they felt the need to mess with that, specifically.  Given that the patch has an argument toward making the game unplayable, it wouldn't surprise me to see a few QA people looking for new jobs after this one.  This issue affects every PC user (I don't believe it affects consoles) - it had to pop up in testing.

If they don't have a hotfix for the patch out today, my guess is they'll have one by the end of the week.  The patch teams are going to be working 24/7 to get that dealt with, but it's not going to happen immediately like everyone seems to think it should.

Funny you say broken as unplayable, and even unplayable can be subjective, but lets use it if saying actually impossible to play. In that case speak for yourself, because there are several people who are crashing to the desktop as soon as they go in, along with people playing that game and having it stop for 10 seconds or more at a time, constantly. So you say Skyrim was unplayable for months? Hyperbole much?(in your words) I played Skyrim form the begining and there were a few quests that were somewhat bugged, but it was very much possible and enjoyable to play.

Oh dear... I hope not. I am now trying to restart the game.

The weird thing is that when I started it up today it seemed to be working just fine.

And then it suddenly popped in my game, screwing things up.

Hopefully, if reinstalling really is necessary, I can save my games. Otherwise it's a loss of 107 hours. :(

List your specs, it's the only way we can even attempt to help you. Need to know what you're working with.

Maybe, just maybe, it's because their PC is wonky?

Like playing it on a 32bit system. I know some of those types.

Good tip, it's worth a try. I'm running it now and then will take a look to see how it ends up. Thanks.

Did you watched the video just above your post ?

I think that guy beg to differ.

Yea, but this is after a patch in which they were TRYING to help people.  Also, not everyone is having issues with the patch.  There is a big difference between a patch causing issues for some, of which the problem will most likely be fixed within a week; and not being able to play a game for FOUR months.  I did not even try to play AC4 after such a long time of ignoring customers.  Is this patch unacceptable?  Yes.  But some people are acting like this game is is utterly unplayable (per pre-patch), when in reality most of the critiques were minor ones being blown out of proportion by the Bioware hate group.  If people want a company that really gives the finger to a customer its Ubisoft, not Bioware, and people need to get off this fad hate train.

Pennifer, when you used the workaround, did you change all graphics settings to Ultra? Have you tried using the workaround with "High" input instead of Ultra (with a corresponding change to Mesh Quality) and with other Graphics Settings at an appropriate level for your system specs? Are your drivers up to date (includes AMD's drivers released in the last 24 hours, if appropriate)?

I'm hoping some of that might be helpful at least; I've noticed a nominal amount of stuttering (say 0.2 sec in a complicated boss fight) however I know that this is more than likely due to me forcing the game to run at a slightly higher level of Graphical detail than I should - but that's a personal decision for which I accept full responsibility.

I've actually changed all my settings to low/off (also set shaders in the workaround to "low"). I was running medium specs before with absolutely no trouble, smooth performance, decent graphics, no noteworthy glitches or bugs, and now post-patch everything is just a mess. I gain no performance boost by changing my settings from high to low (or vice versa), changing to windowed/fullscreen, changing to lower resolution display, etc. My drivers and system are up to date, nothing changed on my end - game was running fine before patch, the same minute patch was applied, steering, cutscenes, loading etc. is torturously slow. :-/

so basically my whole game is fucked.

All my graphics settings are set to low no matter what I change it to, I can't even change Ambient occlusion, it just says none. The game looks horrible now, like some ps2 game. O ya btw, nothing has changed with pc controls.

I have the shiny hair issue as well and the origin fix doesn't work

Specs:

core i7 4770k

gtx 780

8gb ram

win 8.1 64 bit

Do these guys even test the game or what? Expect the hotfix next month. I am done with you bioware.

After Witcher 2?

Not buying that one at full prize money.

Exactly. Witcher 2 was possibly even worse of KB&M. I even switched over to a controller for that. I am intrigued by the third game but no way is it getting a pre-order and CD Projekt Red are just another company. They may not have pissed off gamers yet but give them time cause the law of averages says they'll release a stiff at some point (and with the delays this current one is getting one should start to get nervous).

All games have bugs. That doesn't make them unfinished. Even the most patched game you can think of has bugs lying around somewhere, be they graphical or with gameplay.  Nevermind huge, complex, expansive RPGs like DAI.  If you were to try to make a bug-free game, it would never be released.  Even when you fix bugs, there's a good chance you'll cause more.

It's not just about a few bugs.  It's things like the deceit over it being PC ready, when it couldn't have been further from the truth.  The ugly characters and sparse hairstyles, the mmo type fetch quests, and many other last names.

Anyway you shouldn't need me to clarify these things, you should already be aware.

Why did they use this frostbite engine if they can't work it?  Surly the unreal or cry engine would have been more suitable.

Unsatisfactory game design and production values doesn't make a game "unfinished",either.

There is people saying that changing Mesh from Ultra to High give then some fps boost, but to be honest you only get 1-2 fps, and the graphic quality is big, on high you get less polygons, it doesn't  look good.

Again we need performance optimization for towns and other dense areas, redcliffe can dipp 23-25fps on medium/high settings. It will be fine get 30+fps there, no even 50-60fps, just 30+fps will be ok.

I hope Bioware correct these graphical errors as fast as possible, I'm 150 hours in this game, exploring each area as ever, I was very happy to know that the patch would make the already shiny hair that I played with quality mesh in down and the rest of the configurations on high. but now, even with my temporary solution graphics are horrible, floating plants in various places on all maps, reduction of grass and field of view are striking and it is very bothering me to the point of being unplayable for me, I'd rather shiny hair to downgrade the graphics environments.
I hope a hotfix to patch eagerly (and hopefully still come this week) to be able to return to play meanwhile will be forced to leave DAI in the drawer while I'll be stuck in the middle of the game, in the area that more was enjoying exploring and now this graphically horrible.

Asking this to make sure it's not just me:

Are people seeing terrain and vegetation pop-up much closer now; and changing those settings seems to do nothing?

I have them both on high and before this patch that was sufficient to stop the appearance of small rocks (and grass) from being disconcerting, now it happens just a few feet (in game) away.
