yup doesn't work. The character look like ps2 characters and the hair still shiny.

I don't mean to sound like an arse, but are you sure you typed everything in right? It's just that I did it wrong the first time and it made no difference (obviously), and then I followed the instructions I saw in this thread on page 84, and it worked properly.

Like I said, really not trying to be snarky or anything, just trying to make sure all bases are covered etc.

Yea, but this is after a patch in which they were TRYING to help people.  Also, not everyone is having issues with the patch.  There is a big difference between a patch causing issues for some, of which the problem will most likely be fixed within a week; and not being able to play a game for FOUR months.  I did not even try to play AC4 after such a long time of ignoring customers.  Is this patch unacceptable?  Yes.  But some people are acting like this game is is utterly unplayable (per pre-patch), when in reality most of the critiques were minor ones being blown out of proportion by the Bioware hate group.  If people want a company that really gives the finger to a customer its Ubisoft, not Bioware, and people need to get off this fad hate train.

Are you really that self-centered?

The game is literally unplayable for a huge number of people.

...

I played Skyrim at launch without one single problem.

I do realize, however, that a huge number of people had massive issues.

Just because YOU aren't having issues doesn't mean those issues aren't there for other people.

It's amazing. I'm having to repeat this like 4 times in this thread.

The lack of support among gamers, the lack of empathy, is exactly why companies these days release patches like this.

Have you updated your graphics drivers recently, then?

There is people saying that changing Mesh from Ultra to High give then some fps boost, but to be honest you only get 1-2 fps, and the graphic quality is big, on high you get less polygons, it doesn't  look good.

Again we need performance optimization for towns and other dense areas, redcliffe can dipp 23-25fps on medium/high settings. It will be fine get 30+fps there, no even 50-60fps, just 30+fps will be ok.

What CPU, graphics card, and RAM are you using?  I have a Radeon R9-270X graphics card (slightly above the recommended specifications) and I get a minimum of 26 FPS running through Redcliffe, and that's on 1080p with maxed out settings.

I wanted to LIKE this, but apparently I've hit my quota. I'll just leave a "well said," instead.

Incidentally, I also had no issues with Skyrim. I also had no issues with DA:I ... until after yesterday's patch :P The workaround fixed the graphics/shiny issue, but I'm also seeing other issues (such as not being able to select other party members) which I did not see previously.

I recognize that some have it way worse, and some have it better. Hopefully the patches will keep coming and the general polish to the game will continue to improve.

Do you have any actual statistics to back up the game being "literally unplayable" (nevermind that playability is subjective) for a "huge number of people"?  Or just anecdotal evidence?

Oh Lord what have you done?

I run the PC version of this game

The game (prior to this latest patch) ran reasonably well. I had lagg and stuttering around the loading screens (and occasionally in the cinematics)
Now I have lag in the cinematics , in game , when my party is talking to each other - I can safely say that the lagg is 100% worse than it was before.

And don't get me started on the graphics.....

Aren't patches supposed to fix stuff - not break it?

I can't speak for others, but I can't even get the game to run steadily at a stable framerate on low, or any for that matter, settings since the patch, after being able to run it just fine on medium-high settings previously at a steady 40+ FPS with only the occasional dip or lag spike. Now I'm lucky to reach 10 FPS just running around Haven or Skyhold. I'd call that unplayable.

I had tried the workaround without adding the 60 fps limit to the parameter and it didn't work. I added the 60 fps limit because of your comment and to my pleasant surprise the lag and most of the freezing was gone and my game was generally back to normal. Thank-you!

Sorry but I don't get it. Why is there no word on the problems still in the game, like the poor performance with Nvidia cards or the bad SLI implementation? Nvidia doesn't answer, Bioware doesn't answer. What's the matter? Why is no one answering questions anymore? Is this a way to treat customers?

For people who are saying that the game is unplayable, could you tell me what is unplayable? I mean does it crash all the time? Is it an annoyance with the game that you think makes it unplayable? I'm just curious.

I guess I was lucky, the patch didn't affect my game noticably except the fixable shiny hair. Harding still has freckles, inquisitor's face isn't a raisin, performance hasn't dipped, etc.

Sorry, that's still anecdotal rather than empirical evidence.  Sample size will need to be far greater and less skewed towards people who are more likely to be encountering problems (it's like trying to discern whether you have a systemic problem by monitoring your company's call center line...)

So, last night I patched and had the problems everyone talked about. I read the forum, applied the work-around, and noticed everything else that /that/ entailed; e.g., cutscene lag, occasional crashes, draw distance massively shortened, bad AI pathing, weird double banter, etc. I also noticed someone mentioned launching the game from nVidia Experience would cutdown on some of the cutscene lag, and it did! So I played for a bit last night.

This morning, nothing helps. More stuttering, more lost frames, now even the title pages/game menu lag. The Bioware logo lags. Just ... wow.

Can we please just rollback? I'd gladly give up my savegames in that time.

It's a real shame that whoever is awarding the game rewards is not taking optimization into account!

What exactly is your point? The game works for you, which is cool. Why not play and enjoy the game then instead of wasting everyone's time giving no actual feedback?

Corto made a claim about there being a "huge amount of people" with problems bad enough to make the game "unplayable".  i was asking to see if there was any evidence for that.  So far, any evidence cited has been anecdotal.

And in case you haven't been paying attention iorveth, I'm trying to help.

I find the lag unplayable right now. (Note: It wasn't unplayable last night, and yes, I did patch and I did use the work-around. But now is oddly different.) Definitely not anecdotal.

It appears the patch may have also set tesselation to a lower level, because I'm looking at Solus' bald head right now and it has quite a few corners. Don't recall seing them before. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Do you want a scientific poll on the amount of people having issues? A lot of people are, this is just nitpicky.
