My caravan is waylaid - any way to fix this without console? Could I destroy that caravan and build up a new one?

I think it was attacked and "disabled".

As I recall you need to beat down any monsters beating on it.. then "talk to the caravan again" on the road... and if you have the necessary skins, timber and iron it gets underway in its trade mission (??)

Going by memory but something like that..

That's correct. In some cases you'll be asked for a certain number of crates of materials for the repairs, although if one of your party members has crafting skills above a certain level you can often do the repairs with less resources.

Jfoxtail and Dann-J have it right;  and if it's not obvious from their comments, you can't do that from your warehouses ("Could I destroy that");  you have to go out on the map, travel to the broken-down caravan, and interact with it ...  often repairing it just in time for a wandering pack of miscreants to spot it and attack it again.

What you CAN do at the (any) warehouse is upgrade any caravan to level 3 before it ever rolls out on the road.  This costs six times the base cost but is well worth the price, since level 3 caravans are very rarely waylaid.  Just build it, then upgrade it, then upgrade it again.

p.s.  There is one caravan which is practically always reported as waylaid (or uncompleted, perhaps?) unless you apply kevL's script fix.

And there are spots where a caravan can be waylaid and you can't click on it to fix it (because the terrain graphics - usually cities - get in the way) unless you unlock the overland camera.

Kinda off topic but the overland map in Storm was way more fun than the Open World in DA:I. If they could've combined the DA:I engine with Storm's overland map game mechanics I think I'd have been really happy.

I've found that you can use your own PC to nudge those caravans to an accessible location.
