Did Bioware just admit this game was rushed?

And not that this is a problem honestly becuase what we got is definitely good enough, and we all know that holiday release window is so important to developers.

But in this http://blog.bioware....for-dragon-age/ and their statement

Priority 2 – Features and content

As massive as Dragon Age: Inquisition already is, there were some things the team wanted to get in at launch, but we just ran out of time. We’ll be creating these new features and content and adding them into your game over time because we love our DAI players. Multiplayer will also be receiving regular content updates.

In closing, I’d like to thank you for your patience. We appreciate your feedback, so keep it coming! We’re going to keep working on these patches and content while you’re off adventuring in the world of Dragon Age. In the meantime, please visit EA’s help website for the latest workarounds and updates.

...they kinda just admitted they outright rushed the game to some extent. And just to be sure, I don't intend this as a "LET'S ALL BASH BIOWARE!" topic, becuase honestly I'm relieved they're completely upfront and honest about it here. (probably because they feel good about what they've released ;-))

Was there any obvious things in the game that you think were missing, and it all makes more sense to you now [that Bioware has admitted some parts were missing]?

OBS of course they likely mean gameplay stuff and maybe some side-content or something. OR, perhaps even something like an Extended Cut if we're lucky?

I don't get why all the Seekers of Truth were wearing Templar armor instead of the Seeker of Truth armor. Its a small thing I know but its really driving me batty.

The only thing I have noticed that seemed to be missing was that quest in Crestwood where the keep was under attack, and you had to choose to save the village or the keep.  (I suppose you could possibly try to save both too, but yeah...)  Unless I just missed that somewhere, I don't think it made the final cut?

At some point, you're going to run out of time. There's always more that you want to add. I assume it's the same for BioWare.

It looks to me like Crestwood has changed pretty significantly between the early demo and the release build. The story for the area appears to be completely different.

Every game is rushed. That's the nature of software development. There's never time to add everything you want.

Software Developers... if it were up to us, it will never be done. Always a new feature, always some optimization... :P

Does it feel like there could've been more? Yes.

Was it needed? Depends.

To Quote David Gaider from the DA off the record podcast: "We did cut a ton of content."

I'm thinking that at least some of that content was unique areas. For example, in Varric's personal quest, it's clear from the dialogue that originally it wasn't meant to occur in Valammar. It's meant to occur somewhere in Orlais, and I'm betting the deep roads entrance was supposed to have its own unique location with a cool impressive techno-magic door that Bianca would unlock with her steampunk key.

Would make sense, since it would have been quite a coincidence that our inquisitor happended to stumble into the same deep roads entrance Hawke and crew used years before... if you actually did find Valammar before Varric's quest, which I did.

Yeah, but at least it's not DA2's fiasco all over again. EA forced their hands again. Next time, don't rush so much alright?

Love, Teddie.

It's a reality of software development. Give my code monkeys infinite time and money, and they'll give me a product that never releases. At some point, you just have to pull the trigger.

Of course they "rushed " the game , but the thing is almost all games are rushed.

The ending (Cory , Divine business ) had a somewaht unfinished card on it.

Well to be fair , it was polished work , the material they were able to push out the door was good quality.

Anyway is anyone surprised?

I mean people who have played recent RPGs?

You also stumble on plots , or area or something you just know devs didn't have time to finish (it happened in Fallout NV and Skyrim for example )

Not quite sure if that's the only reason for todays "realities"...

I won't mind if it's added in via free content updates as a 'it was originally in, so it'd be a dick move to charge for it,' or at least a very low price DLC, but if they charge a shittillion amount of dosh (which is likely because EA is EA) for something like dynamic keep assaults and village defense, I will be royally pissed.

And anyone else notice just how different the Western Approach looks from the presentations pre-release?

This topic is fairly ridiculous. Yes content was cut, yes content is ALWAYS cut, cut content does not equal rushed, so you'll have to look elsewhere for your smoking gun.

Rushed?
A game postponed 2 times it's not rushed by any definition but people should nail in their heads that devs (any devs) do not have unlimited time and money for putting into their game every single feature they wanted

Depends on the content... in this case, they pretty much cut any and all of the "hard choices" the game was advertised for.

I think the game came out well enough but can you imagine how bad it would have been if not given that year extension?

It's a reality of game development. You don't push out a game when it's 'done', you push it out when you don't have the time to do any more.

Besides, it's not really fair to call it rushed when they delayed for an entire year.

I think there is a difference between not getting in all the features you wanted and a rushed game.

Dragon age 2 was out the door after 9 months development; that is what I would call rushed. DA:I was in development for at least 4 years? That kinda indicates they had big plans, and it's reflected in the DA:I, it's massive. It's not surprising they had to cut content.

It definitely seems like a final level was cut in favor of "here, have a boss battle."

Whatever they cut they probably added twice as much anyway. Maybe more dialogues to make up for it. Just guessing here.

No, it wasn't rushed. Bioware has never taken as long on a game as they have taken on this one. I don't know how you can call that rushed.

Talk to any developer, and they'll tell you there's always cut content. There's always ideas they had that they couldn't get done for whatever reason (time being the most common). That's just how the industry is. If they implemented every good idea they had, the game would never be finished.
