I've spent quite some time now in the game as a rogue (doing the same run twice, even, because the Keep didn't quite work out the first time) and by this point, despite how much I freakin' love this game, one of the skills is a source of constant annoyance. Leaping Shot works superbly for dealing large damage and getting away, but half the time it also is a surprisingly great way to have my Inquisitor suddenly teleport halfway across the area. Or get frozen in place. Or, once in Western Approach, get suddenly moved from the keep I was trying to take into a part of the map I hadn't even unlocked yet. Or generally just fall through the ground right away, losing 90% of my health in the process.

It's one of my most useful skills, and yet I can't reliably use it because I never know if it'll work properly or if I'll end up in another dimension afterwards.

In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention...

(sorry, couldn't resist)

On topic: Ability bugs have been the bane of my existence too (Mighty Blow/Whirlwind ability combo bug, specifically). Patch is coming out today though, so keep your fingers crossed.

My fav. leaping shot moment.  Was on the wall of a keep in hinterlands fighting some mobs when both Veric and Sera leaping shot themselves over the battlements and on the ground below getting stuck and making me fight the group with just myself and Cassandra.

I haven't had teleporting accidents with Leaping Shot, at most I would end up rolling down the hill and getting hurt if I was leaping off a slope. I did once, though, have the graphics totally glitch and freak out on me for the rest of the fight when I used it, only returning to normal once the battle was finished.

Not a Leaping Shot glitch but I have had my ever-so-smart companions push me off when I stop at the edge of a cliff to take in the view/survey the area.

Yeah, the Leaping Shot glitch is more than likely going to be fixed in one of the 3 patches coming up.  I actually find it amusing.  Sort of an "I wonder what my Inquisitor's  going to do this time?"  Only time I found it annoying was once when I was working on closing a breach.  Got through a wave or two, before I used Leap Shot.  The ability sent me so far back that it despawned the demons.  When I ran back, the veil tear was back at full health.  Wasn't a huge deal, though.

Especially when i combine it with the artificer's focus ability, 90 % of the times game buggs and i have to F9.

I used Leaping Shot until I discovered the little combat roll under Subterfuge (I can't recall the name of it). It doesn't deal damage, but it costs less Stamina, has a very short cooldown, and allows you to control the direction of your escape. Also, when upgraded, it leaves a brief decoy to keep the enemy confused.

I use leaping shot all the time and have clipped through various obstacles, but the weirdest incident has to be when I got launched into the air and almost died upon landing. In the middle of a fight too. I was not pleased.

With a bit of a mind flip

You're into the time slip

and nothing can ever be the same.

XD

I find the drawbacks with Leap Shot become very much worth it if you wind up getting the Longbow of the Griffon.  That bow's ability to fire 3 arrows at once appears to affect the Leap Shot ability as well, from what I've been seeing.  It can become absolutely devastating with the right ability combinations.

I combine Leaping Shot with the artificer ability where critical hits reduce cooldown. The number of arrows fired guarantees a decent crit rate, and that combined with my party members gives me effectively zero cooldown on an ability with insane damage output.

I would continue it but that one line of the song is just too perfect for this, so I'll leave you with that.

Then again, if it were just a jump to the left, I wouldn't have screenshots like this:

Okay, this comment from the quest Here Lies the Abyss comes to mind.  Warning, minor spoiler:

Spoiler

Edit: So I'm at least keeping this a little more on-topic, I haven't run into anything that severe while using Leaping Shot.  I play an archer myself.  I have however, had either Varric or myself (or both of us) flip into an area where we get stuck in the terrain.  Not graphically stuck (as in actually sticking out of the terrain,) but unable to get out in any way.  I switched to a different party member and thankfully that got my character and Varric unstuck.

THIS! THIS! Expect on the PS4. This has happened to me about 3 times already, I actually had video of it but I deleted it by mistake. This needs to be hot fixed ASAP. I need this skill to destroy Dragons.
